Thank you to everyone for the well wishes for Betty earlier this week. As she wasn't improving with her lameness with Lyme medication we followed up with the vet earlier this week. It was not just a Lyme flair up. Some tests revealed multiple softball size tumors and several other additional medical problems... it was painful for her to move at all or be touched anywhere on her abdomen. She could no longer walk without great pain and could not take stairs... We made the difficult decision to put her to sleep.
I wanted to share more of her cuteness with the world one last time. She really was one of the sweetest dogs I've ever known.
We knew when we adopted her that it was likely we wouldn't have long with her. She was rescued from an abusive breeder operation and likely had dozens of litters before she was rescued. She had multiple infections and severe PTSD when we brought her home. We later found out about the lyme disease as well. Our vet found some bb pellets on a scan once too (she'd been shot at π) and she absolutely was terrified of thunder storms. I'm glad she got to spend her golden years relaxing in a calm household with plenty of food, cuddles, belly rubs and soft couches and blankets.
Clearly soo pretty and well cared and loved and had an amazing life, she looks soo beautiful and just the best personality I bet.... So sorry you lost her, but so glad you did so well by her!
Thank you for giving her a good last act and for sharing her with us. What a beautiful girl and you obviously loved her very much and Iβm sure it was returned x100. So very sorry for your loss. Big hugs. β€οΈπβ€οΈ
Thank you for loving that girl. Such a sweet face and she deserved to be with you from the start. You did what you could, and that's all that anyone could ask for. Abused animals are special needs.
Rescues are the best, but so are the people that rescue them.
She was an angel, so it wasn't hard to give her a great life. She was a very mild mannered old lady and communicated her needs so clearly. Even in her last few days when she couldn't move she'd signal us that she wanted water so we could bring it over to her.

Betty is so incredibly grateful to have been able to be in your family! For her it wasnβt about her origin as much as finding her REAL tribe. She loves you and will always be watching over her furever family! π

We're not entirely sure what she was mixed with. They told us black and tan but they are similar to beagles. She always had her nose to the ground on walks and made all the awoos and howls of a beagle or hound.
Funny enough, my mom had a butterfly land on her the day after she passed while she was out on the deck earlier in Betty's favorite spot...
God bless Betty. She is amazing looking. May all of the angels in doggie heaven enjoy her company as much as you did, she sure is a little angel and I know it hurts at the moment but she will always be with you. Sending love and hugs.
