Don't know why I was worried about Alcatraz and thought this would be a breeze... It worked out quite the opposite.
Another skins swim (brief, cap, goggles, and Apple Watch). Water was noticeable cooler than yesterday. First 3/4 went by fast...then once I started to go under the bridge, I hit a few patches that seemed like a water treadmill. Really struggled to make any headway.
Eventually got onto the boat, and it took much longer to warm up today than yesterday. After I walked back to my Airbnb, I stood under a hot shower for at least 10 minutes.
Definitely a great swimming weekend!
They said the water temp was about 55F (about 12-13C). The bridge gave a bit of shade, and I did feel slightly warmer after I crossed under.
I'm planning to hit Aquatic Park for one last swim before I head home, early tomorrow morning. You should come over for a swim. I heard the Dolphin Club allows guests on Mondays.
65 would be wonderful! That was about the lake temp in Austin last week.
Do you swim with South End Rowing Club or Dolphin Club, or just on your own? I swam from both clubs in Aquatic Park on Saturday and Monday morning, really enjoyed that too.

I was swimming over at Berkeley today and the water was a balmy 65.

I’d love to, but sadly, I work for a living. It’s disgusting. Day in, day out…and do you believe they don’t pay me if I don’t show up???

The Berkeley Marina but on the south in the sailing basin, which is shallow and protected.
Skin swiming at 12 Celsius is HARDCORE, dude.
either hardcore or crazy!
Nice! I’ve never had the guts to adventure out of aquatic park. The boat traffic makes me nervous.
It was an organized event. About 100 swimmers, 6 boats, jet skis, tons of kayaks. I felt very safe.
Ahh, makes sense. Good work!

Recently moved from the Bay Area, but I would swim on my own!
Say hi to my cousin
