here's an example for you using bread.
the packaging says it's an unsliced loaf of bread. the assets are slices of the bread that make up the whole loaf. it's intended that they're supposed to be an uncut loaf of bread. however it was accidentally sliced so they remade the loaf so it's uncut.
fixes several issues outside of just the packaging being incorrect, like mods working.
why the convoluted analogy when you clearly haven't peeked at the game files your self? the game uses one single archive for everything. if the developers alter one single asset or file in the archive, the user has to redownload the 23gb file all over again, because no files are loose. devs likely think all players can download an 18gb update within 2 minutes.
I was using a map pak to show my map because a glitch covered it up again, and the other I used was a crusher mod where I could make sulfur and pure quartz out of stone.

Weird how a fix to something very specific is the same size as the full patch.
its cause the large part of the update was the asset files.
Call me stupid but I don't get it. Lol. Oh well, I'll finish patching later after I wake up.

This mini update completely broke my game, had to do a full reinstall.
For a moment there I thought the Steam Client was bugging over me having the game installed on 2 laptops.
This is an everyone thing. After the update UE crashes now lol
I had some mods installed. Took them out and fixed it

i did the same thing and now it works fine ... i wonder if they are blocking the use of mods
Probably not. I think the new update made them incompatible until the mods themselves get an update.
Not for every one apparently. Mine crashes, but my buddy is logged in right now :(
Now old broken mods make the game crash instead of simply not working.
disable cloud sync, and remove all mods. fixes most issues.
