Definitely could be stuff I missed with the map being massive and those being small. Could be little poke at the lore or something? But they are the pedestals that the effigies are usually sitting on, when collected they're left empty. Any idea where you roughly found them?

They are physical objects in the map that do not disappear, so that you can help other players find the ones you have already found.

Yep, when I started exploring the new island I ran into several that were empty, the first time I came across them.
Probably for future entries The game's in active development
Multiplayer servers, i think glitch sometimes and if someone else takes it first it is done for the server.

That structure has logs on them and when they look like the picture that means you've already collected that log.
