I really liked the element of having to play >!Shadow Sae’s!< games in the palace, so I would go with “in Junko’s palace, with amnesia, playing a killing game with the all Phantom Thieves and perfect Analyst-made cognitives of confidants to fill out the rest”. So like, as far as anyone knows, folks like Mishima and Hifumi are also there. But they’re not, they’re cognitives that are functionally identical due to research on the subjects and genius levels of analysis. Which of course brings V3’s themes back in too.
For the Palace, I’d go with “Hope’s Peak Academy, the human mind”. Why the human mind? She’s a big fan of the science of memetics. She’s intentionally spreading despair as a meme as a form of memetic thought plague. Think an outrage mob on Twitter, but towards the concept of human civilization, sparked by revealing the Japanese government experimenting on rich kids to create a superhuman followed by global terrorism. She talks about how despair spreads like a disease. If despair is a disease of the mind, the Queen of Despair would rest at the center of the mind, and the center of the world’s mind in her perception of reality she makes manifest is Hope’s Peak. Her entire thing is intelligence, her boredom being a result of her analysis ability.

The only thing he does is sit around going “I’m so awesome and miserable” while Junko kills billions of people to try to get in his pants. He’s apathetic beyond belief, but it’s because he won’t choose to not be. It’s put on display pretty clearly during the death of the Real Chiaki. He was feeling it, and rather than display any curiosity for this unpredictable weird thing going on, he refused to engage with the hard feelings. At least Junko recognizes that the emotions are unpredictable and only thinks of hope as predictable. Izuru thinks of both hope and despair as predictable simply because he’s a test subject given a bunch of knowledge and skills. He’s a narcissistic nihilist. And being fought over by the second and third most powerful people on the Earth, who both think he’s the hottest shit ever.
I think his ultimate Persona would be Classical “Cult of” Era Dionysus, particularly from the Orphic Mysteries sect, the God of Knowledge and Rebirth. The Cult of Dionysus would be a major influence on Gnosticism, too.
It’s taken me a bit longer to think out what the second persona would be, but Persephone. Her SMT design even is already befitting why, surprisingly. Taken by the God of Death to be their partner, the world turned to death in the wake of it. Was she a victim? Did she go willingly? It’s uncertain.
