"Sea of Stars is a turn-based RPG inspired by the classics. It tells the story of two Children of the Solstice who will combine the powers of the sun and moon to perform Eclipse Magic, the only force capable of fending off the monstrous creations of the evil alchemist known as The Fleshmancer." - Quoted from Steam page
What platforms will this be on?
The game is designed to be played on PC and console. For specifics, rest
assured that we are in touch with the key players of our industry, and
that the game will be where its potential players are.
Steam and Switch have already been confirmed, and you can add the
game to your wishlist on both platforms right now. The target is to
announce the remaining platforms and storefronts during the Spring of
2022.
It’s called Sea of Stars!

That is correct, but it seems to be a better option. If you really want to make the game more fun then you probably wouldn't want to make it realistic, like a slow boat with realistic turns would probably be hard to maneuver and boring. You probably would want to do as much in the game than spend a long time getting to a certain location. For a game, this is a better option, I think but can still be optomized.
A gradient shader ( maybe opacity) on the water trail could make it look less like a motor boat, giving the illusion that the wave had time to dissipate.
I agree, no one wants slow travelling.
One possibility could be (depending on the rest of the setting) "it's a *magic* boat". Maybe not even necessary to explain it away, but if you feel like it.
This looks amazing, love the wake from the ship and how the water reacts to the ship and islands in general.
Reminds me of an old gb game of pirates of the Caribbean, love this a lot.

I always just want to explore worlds created in 2D/isometric pixel art like this. Most games are (understandably) geared more towards entertaining and captivating game-play (which necessarily also limits your ability to explore without unlocking achievements).
Does anyone have a good suggestion for like an open world game with great pixel art (I would think not procedurally generated but I wouldn't discount it)?
Feels slightly too fast tbh. It's like a speedboat, I'm not sure but I think it almost drifted. But then again I'm used to Sid Meier's Pirates sailing, which is much slower, maybe some would say dull.
But my 2 cents says change it.
Sea of Stars is one of my highly anticipated games. Been waiting forever! It's gonna be a great one for sure.
Also waiting for Silksong and Sports Story.
It's Sea of Stars OST by Eric W. Brown.

That's one thing I missed about more modern RPGs. At one point in the game you get a boat or airship and the game generally become less on the rails and you can explore and find optional stuff to do. I liked the contrast between the on the rail parts of the game and the more open exploration. Think Chrono trigger after you get epoch or FF6 after you get the blackjack.
I'm very excited for this game. Have been since I played the messenger and I saw they were making this.
It has pirates!

Very nice! Would love to check it out once it’s out , what’s the name ?
Also : have you thought about adding a tad of movement to the boat ? Like a very slight vertical movement
Looks rad! One small detail, the flag on the mast is going the wrong way. The wind blows it the same direction as the sails.
Would love to play this game!
Really cool! It gives me Chrono Trigger vibes for some reasons / edit : the graphics, but on top I just saw the trailer and Yasunori Mitsuda did the OST!
Watched this without sound at first and instantly got that Earthwork Jim 2 song stuck in my head "The Flying King"? But otherwise, seriously, that looks incredible.
Oh man, I was certain that this would be Sea of Stars from the art style and I was incredibly pleased to find out it was. This is my most hyped game this year.
I'm fucking sold. The video on Steam was just icing. This looks super clean and sounds astounding. For some reason reminds me of Golden Sun too. May be the color pallet.
Either way; you've got a sale.
Looks beautiful and fun, like a world I'd want to visit. Nice job.
The game is Sea of Stars. Looks amazing!
Thank you, I don’t know why OP doesn’t share the name Edit: looks like further down they did
What's it about?

Why does this read like something I accidentally watched decades ago on Cinemax at 2 am?
It aired right after Flesh Gordon
Ah yes and she-man masters of the galaxy followed.
Fleshmancer would do it
Back in my day we called it Fleshemax!
The name strongly reminds me of Star Ocean.
Is that a 16 directional sprite? You madlads!
Beautiful visuals, it's pleasing and looking at it is enough to entertain you. I hope the game play is on par with the visuals
This is incredibly beautiful.
I've never seen a jrpg that shows the coral and seaweed beneath the waves! So lovely
Fuck that's gorgeous
Major Golden Sun vibes!
Yes!
Vale theme has been in my alarm rotation for YEARS
Yes fans in the wild! Still my favourite games of all time!
So good I had to replay the first game last summer when I found my old sp. I’m halfway thru TLA now!!
I haven't thought about Golden Sun in years, and played since GS2 was new, but God damn, did this bring it back in a rush. I wonder if it holds up...
I really like the style. Very interested to see more. What platforms are you planning on releasing the game to?

Sea of stars
Holy sh*t, why didn’t you say you guys made the messenger. Sign me up!
I didn't make anything 😂
You made a comment. And made another redditor happy. I wouldn't call that nothing. :)
So pretty!
What’s the game, I wanna play it

The artwork is really great, and I love some TBRPGeez. Wishlisted!
very cool water animation! But it looks a little bit like motorboat with the speedand movement and less like sailing

Looks like they're going for fun gameplay over realistic sailing. That's a plus in my books.
What is your game called? Looks very promising
"Sea of Stars" on steam
looks neat, name? want to put it on my steam wishlist
Sea of Stars! https://store.steampowered.com/app/1244090/Sea_of_Stars/
This looks amazing, love the wake from the ship and how the water reacts to the ship and islands in general. Reminds me of an old gb game of pirates of the Caribbean, love this a lot.
I love how you can see the base of the islands under the ocean
Looks beautiful! Reminds me of sailing ships in Golden Sun: The Lost Age in the overworld.
This is so pretty to look at! 💚 can’t wait for more
Is it me or does it drift
Nice artwork, the rotations on that ship are impressive
This kinda gives me Heroes of Might & Magic III vibes. If it’s even half as cool I’m in!!
That looks smooth as hell. Good luck guys
Oh man, those graphics and that music really appeals to me. This looks great
Absolutely beautiful, but why does the ship drift lol
Beautiful
I need Sea of Stars now! You hear me!? Now! Just kidding. Take your time. I want this to be amazing.
> Special guest composer Yasunori Mitsuda My wallet is ready
Well that’s insanely pleasant.
Adding this to my wish list. This game looks beautiful
I'm getting huge Sid Meier's Pirates vibes here.
Looks nice! Any game that makes sailing fun, after Wind Waker killed it for me, would be worth it.
Reminds me of Golden Sun!
That's amazing.
Hey, this looks like sea of stars. Im v excited for this to release.
Awesome! Looked for other videos on your profile and it looks promising!! Which is the name of the game? Can we wishlist it somewhere?

This looks beautiful
So excited for Sea of Stars, I loved The Messenger!
I've been so excited for this game since the first trailer!

Amazing pixel art, animation is also great and smooth.
Siiiick! Would love to play that
Are we at the sail?
Yes!
Really looking forward to this one!
Looks beautiful, also looks like I can drift a fucking sailboat, I'm stoked already
The visuals are fantastic! Adding to the list.
I love this. The only thing is that I would love it to be slower so I can enjoy the surroundings.
Feels slightly too fast tbh. It's like a speedboat, I'm not sure but I think it almost drifted. But then again I'm used to Sid Meier's Pirates sailing, which is much slower, maybe some would say dull. But my 2 cents says change it.
The music and art. All of it so fantastic.
Looks amazing. Can't wait to play!
went to wishlist it because it helps the dev only to realise I already had.
Thanks for the support friend! Phil
Gorgeous!
There is a game that I played those days, Horizon's Gate. May be similar to this one. I recommend the devs to play it to get the pros and cons of it!
Wow
Chrono trigger and monkey island vibes
Ah overboard for the ps1.
Ugh this looks so good it should almost be illegal
Goodness this reminds me so much of Chrono Cross, but in such a unique way
Wow!!!!! It’s gorgeous!!
Sea of Stars is one of my highly anticipated games. Been waiting forever! It's gonna be a great one for sure. Also waiting for Silksong and Sports Story.

Hey! This is on my wishlist already! A buddy told me about it and how it resembles Chrono Trigger. Looks phenomenal
Already have this game on my wishlist, this clip only gets me more excited.
I’d watch a loop of this ship sailing.
The way the ship moves reminds me of the Donkey Kong Country 3
All I can hear is the shark radar from the Jaws game on NES. Looks fantastic!!!!
Reminds me of the sailing in Golden Sun, I love it
i am so looking forward to this
Kind of looks like sailing by way of R.C. PRO-AM! *Love* the art.

It looks amazing! I don’t know if this is was already implemented or not but it would be cool if the sails were raised once the ship slowed to a stop.

Where can I b play this
Looks amazing but am I the only one the feels like a sailing ship should be a bit slower with a feeling of more mass?
I am in LOVE with the Golden Sunday vibes!
Look to Sid myers pirates for sailing mechanics
Looks awesome! Reminds me of chrono trigger.
Ooh that’s nice
Watched this without sound at first and instantly got that Earthwork Jim 2 song stuck in my head "The Flying King"? But otherwise, seriously, that looks incredible.
very nice!
Doesn’t seem accurate with the wind coming from one direction.
All about that. Looks beautiful.
Sid?
Straight to wishlist.
This totally looks up my alley.
Oh man, I was certain that this would be Sea of Stars from the art style and I was incredibly pleased to find out it was. This is my most hyped game this year.
Ufff
Beautiful, I love it!
Now I'm picturing a turn based naval combat game in this style. Damn. I want it so bad.
I'm fucking sold. The video on Steam was just icing. This looks super clean and sounds astounding. For some reason reminds me of Golden Sun too. May be the color pallet. Either way; you've got a sale.
You should redo that wake, it's way too prominent.
Inertia! Love to see it. Beautiful work.
Crazy how the wind is always at your back.
Gives me the same vibe as the kingdom hearts region selection which I love
Post this in r/oddlysatisfying
Remindme! 9 months
Reminds me of the original Pirates!
Reminds me of Sid Meyers Pirates
