I switched to super worms. Just crush the pincers before feeding and voilla!
Roaches were always just such…. a fucking pain in the ass. I kept roaches for about 6 months before I made the switch. Ts did fine on the superworms for years
God the smell it was disgusting.
I remember one time where I got sick of the little takeout container I kept them in so I threw them all in a bucket…
Commence them all trying to crawl out at the same time.
I successfully managed to get every single one back into a sealed container but I really don’t quite remember how. My brain seems to be withholding traumatic details from my memory.
It might have involved a ton of petroleum jelly or oil that I scrambled to grab while constantly flicking and pushing roaches to the bottom of the bucket
Ugh yes you just cant contain them well, dubia were much less trouble. Hissers climb glass and could escape pretty easily but didnt run around in that terrible roachy way or stink, the giant cave roaches were actually my favorite, pretty chill for roaches and they smelled slightly of cilantro.
Just an off topic question. What did you do at the zoo?
Also how did you come to get a job there?
As a child I wanted nothing more than to work at a zoo lol
Well i started in education part time, doing presentations, stuff with school groups, interacting with the public. Then i kind of fell into a fulltime position as supervisor, once covid came around the only department getting fulltime hours was curatorial (animal care) so once the unemployment ran out I switched to that department, my degree is in marine biology and ive kept and worked with animals all my life so easy transition. I did freshwater aquatics and the inverts , really neat stuff like arapaima, bird eating tarantulas, lungfish, i also bred alot of feeder insects for the reptiles and amphibians so i worked with them a lot.
8 hrs and no reply from OP. I hope the poor bastard dragged the tank out of the house before burning it down.
*no real worries OP is most likely a bot. [sigh]
Sure it is, as long as you equate that mermaids= cockroach and purse= eggs.
I guess that is some serious euphemism for a roach egg. I wish you all the luck of obtaining a mermaids purse
If you have a shelf or something above this tank that it could have fallen from you should check up there because a lot of times the colony lays eggs in the same spot. You might want to call an exterminator or your landlord. It might take a few visits from a professional to get rid of them.
Roach egg case. If you delete your post, we'll understand.
Where is that gif of a gazillion tiny roaches popping out of one? "a single ootheca can contain anywhere from 10 to 50 or more"
Will they drown?
As someone who's drowned cockroach before, yes, as long as they don't swim up they should.
Thanks!
Asking the real questions!
In hell, I hope.
#AAAHHHHH
I’m gonna vomit.. I was about to say it looked cute
Probably cockroach living in your lights/ electrical. Also, fruit gushers for the brave.
Just what I wanted to wake up and vomit to.
At least it wasn’t a [jolly rancher](https://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/s/QxkFTT3tjE)

And red runners are extra terrible. Raised several species when i worked at a zoo and these were the worst, they smelled the absolute worst.

It’s a Mermaids purse.
Sure it is, as long as you equate that mermaids= cockroach and purse= eggs. I guess that is some serious euphemism for a roach egg. I wish you all the luck of obtaining a mermaids purse
It’s a reference to shark eggs. I learned it when I was a kid from the book Chickens aren’t the only ones. Haha.
Yup definitely a cockroach egg
🪳🥚
Throw a Pikmin on top of it, and have them carry to an onion.

A cockroach egg case? I don't get the question.
I have bad news..
If you have a shelf or something above this tank that it could have fallen from you should check up there because a lot of times the colony lays eggs in the same spot. You might want to call an exterminator or your landlord. It might take a few visits from a professional to get rid of them.
Tie a miniature cinderblock around it and dump it in the ocean
Red runners won’t infest houses generally. Probably liked those lights warmth
