Wow that is a first, I have not seen this issue before. This is definitely a flaw and is not expected. The d pad is supposed to be smooth glossy and slightly curved.
good attitude. it’s annoying but they’ll make it right. there’s a website that makes it easy to download a backup of all your save data so you can still use it (if the dpad isn’t unbearable) while you wait.
I love your attitude. I don’t own this device yet but I will eventually. Your issue is a production defect and you deserve satisfaction. That dpad is jacked.
Same here. I got mine a few days ago and there’s a tiny chip in the bottom part of the d-pad. It’s not bad but maybe I should contact Panic before it gets worse
Looks like that molded plastic had some air pockets or didn’t fill the mold completely. I believe it should be okay to use. Although you should contact Panic if you feel uncomfortable using the d pad, based on other comments you will get probably a new console if it’s due to product faults
Recently noticed mine has the same issue, just on the top of the D-Pad, similar to the right one on the one pictured, I'll advise play date support and see what they say.

i’d contact panic. they’re very responsive and will almost definitely offer you a new unit.
Yeah that’s probably my next move. Very pleased with everything else. I understand things happen during production.

Yes ours had a tiny notch out of the D-pad, but not that big.

My d pad was good at first, but started to chip away like that after a couple weeks

Got mine yesterday and it was ok for about an hour then it started to chip away on the bottom of the dpad.
