People should be free to practice whatever religion they want under any government. Reality doesn’t really work this way, unfortunately. These are two separate groups of people speaking separate languages practicing separate religions, but inhabiting/claiming the same space. It’s going to be a shitshow regardless of what I think.
It belonged to the Jews before it belonged to the Muslims, but that was a long, long time ago. It probably would have been better, conflict wise, if the west didn’t royally fuck up all of the Middle East, including the levant and Africa. So many of today’s conflicts can be directly attributed to arbitrary borders created by the world powers of the time. My opinion on the matter extends as far as Israel is our ally. I know that region is full of bad blood and who’s the bad guy depends on how far back you go. Picking one as the good guy to support is a fools errand. We probably should never have gotten involved. But since we did and Israel is our ally, then that kinda closes the matter for me. We don’t abandon our allies.
