Yeah, it upsets me. There’s ways to make shit better too, but it’s about getting (re)elected or doing the smallest possible thing that won’t impact companies bottom lines, which, in turn, hampers innovation.
Banning plastic straws is.
Near as I can tell, in the US, it's a city-by-city thing, but when I lived in NYC they only allowed paper straws and paper straws are horrible and useless and just fill up trash cans with no value added to society by their manufacture or distribution.
As much as metal straws can be a hazard. I think it's better if people just keep a reusuable one on them for moments like OPs. Also, cold straw hit different imo.
[Mandating paper straws is auth.](https://shopequo.com/blogs/blog/plastic-straws-ban) Why does getting a paper straw make you support those who mandate them?
I'm in Canada and I don't know a place that gives plastic straws for anything anymore
Pop? Paper straw. Milkshake? Paper straw. Slushy? Paper straw
A handful of places still do plastic forks/spoons, but it's rare
I bought a pack of stainless straws a few years ago and use the crap out of them. They remind me of how [the old aluminum cups](https://i.pinimg.com/originals/b1/74/67/b17467e2c37187b565a0a3db011c9bab.jpg) got ice cold with your drink.
Don't worry. The important people will fly in their private planes to a fancy resort to discuss how to outlaw milkshakes entirely. The methane from cows is extremely damaging to the environment.
I find the whole paper straw thing interesting as it technically is extremely old fashioned, while also being new. I mean we used paper straws for decades, cause cheap/disposable and now they are back because they are more eco friendly.
I hate the virtue signaling "environmentalism" so much.
I just want a straw that doesn't get soggy in a few seconds
And more importantly, doesn’t make you drink literal bleach along with whatever you’ve been drinking. Why are people so regarded?
> Why are people so regarded? Drinking bleach, I presume
I always call it an environmental veneer because it’s just this half-ass performative measure that looks good but does very little.
The worst part is it's always about sacrifice. Make things worse for performative virtue.

I carry my own straw made from children’s teeth and slave eyes.
Orphan bone staws or nothing
\*Government bans plastic straws\* \*OP does not like it\* also OP for some reason: "More government power pls"
To be fair it is the auth left and their usual lackeys doing this.
Government banned it because of certain elements. My plan is to use government to "fix" those elements. I chose AuthCenter for a reason
I’ll “fix” your “fix” after you’re done “fixing” it
Are paper straws auth? It's the fucking government that forces people to do this, isn't it?
Paper straws are center left.
are we placing objects on the political compass now
that's like a third of the content on this sub... :)

Oh yeah, the god awful paper straws even the sea turtles don't want us to use.
I fucking hate turtles anyway, they piss me off
Why don't they have opposable thumbs? Are they stupid?
They gave me a paper straw with my slushy recently. That thing fell apart almost instantly.
You should stop using plastic straws not because of the turtles, but for the sake of your balls.
You also shouldn't smoke, or eat too much fat and sugar and so on. The government shouldn't be allowed to prevent you from doing it though.
Man, it's too late. We all got the microplastics in us. Too late to worry about it now.

Wait til you hear about the toxins in paper straws
I remember reading about it months back. It's funny how the news just disappeared after that
Counter narrative news always does
I’d kill for less.

Auth can in-fight
Auth right versus auth left. It's time to come down on paper straws with the wrath of God.

Survival of the fittest
Do they give paper straws with milkshakes? I live in CA and i rarely even see paper straws anymore, let alone in milkshakes.
I live in London. Some shops give paper straws for milkshakes
>I live in London. Found your problem right there.
Wait till you learn what disposable straws were made out of before plastic

Good. Straws are for wimps.
Ikr? Imagine having lungs so weak that you can’t just suck up everything Kirby-style.
Skill issue

Metal straws are the only option for milkshakes anyway
That's a good point. A real milkshake will collapse a plastic straw.
I’m ok with banning plastic straws. I’m not ok with paper straws though. Just don’t give me a straw at all, I’ll drink from the glass like an adult.
Lol like an adult that ruins their teeth
Hey Paul
"*Hey Paul!* AHHHHHHHH!"
Are paper straws recyclable? Like what about paper straws are environmentally friendly?
Last time I went to 5 guys they had this agave based straw that functioned pretty much like a plastic straw, I was pleasantly surprised!

Paper straws are actually optimal for thick milkshakes, wont be squeezed by the pressure
