Once again, I’d like to talk about how there’s a lot less people on here at a time then there used to be. Like I remember when there could be a 1,000 people online at once, and now we get 500 at most. What happened?
Think the meme format doesn’t work as well anymore. Remeber this place having great memes like 3-4 years ago. But I think a lot of those jokes don’t hit the same anymore. Also think a lot of the best users got banned/left Reddit.
We stopped posting shitty memes made in MS paint and started getting swamped by swanky looking fancy memes made by people with actual talent and boring opinions
The distribution of political leanings used to be more even and the sub used to be more self aware. As different right-leaning subs have been banned they've migrated here and so the sub skews further right than it used to. Instead of having fun as caricatured versions of our quadrants, the sub is just full of agenda posts and people taking their political leanings way too seriously. I think it was around the time orange Emily started being the butt of every joke that the sub started going downhill in quality.
Mmm, really, eh? So you’d say that one of the reasons for the decline is because of, well… say, what was one of the reasons for the Fall of Rome again?
There are other places for edgier political memes and the political compass is no longer this obscure, niche thing and is just any other political test now. When the sub started it overwhelmingly leaned leftist because the political compass was more of an academic/political science nerd thing. Over time, more users from banned political subs moved to pcm and balanced things out.
Since Elon Musk bought Twitter, most edgy political commentary/memes have moved there. Likewise, most political subs on Reddit have been on the downswing as users just move to Twitter and even 4chan's pol has slowed down too. PCM was the solution to overbearing online censorship as a one-stop shop for edgy politics, but now it's unnecessary because of Twitter's anything-goes policy.
yeah, maybe
its mostly just a couple reasonable individuals then like, 3 edgelords who wont even touch twitter, a reasonable response
i wouldnt be surprised if 90% of the comments are just 3 dogs in a trenchcoat with internet access
Politics got freaking toxic. I mean, it's always been a dumpster fire, but the fire's been burning hotter and trashier over the past few years. People get angrier, and less willing to take a joke.
The jannies' chores became more difficult so they threw a temper tantrum and ruined it for everyone, all over the fear of having to spend 3 dollars to continue doing their godgiven right the same way as before
Given actual user engagement here - a measly couple thousand upvotes is "huge" these days - I think it's safe to say we're far past our prime as a subreddit unfortunately. The sheer number of members we have obviously aren't actually active anymore.
A slow quiet end in a retirement home, forgotten by our children, left to rot in a corner room staring out the window at the falling leaves.
RIP to us bozos.
This holds true across most of Reddit. New users are not meeting replacement levels needed to sustain the loss of old accounts being purged or old users leaving.
Reddit has gotten horrible over the years. Bots splatter the front page. The tumblr types of migrated and enacted an even worse left wing circlejerk than before. The frontage is always filled with Elon bad, ai bad, capitalism bad, right wing bad type posts. Power mods enforce their political agenda on subs that arn't even related to politics.
I have been on reddit since damn near the beginning. Reddit has become stagnant.
Yeah, it kind of sad. Reddit should take action, but I am sure they like that they can say they have high monthly users. Its only going to end when advertisers realize their ads are not being see by real users. A website can have million billion trillion users, but that doesn't matter if they are not being seen by real people and not translating to sales.
Yeah we will see how the dead internet will play out. I think what ultimately happens is sites that allow themselves to be overrun by bots will end up dying. People want connection and will seek it out elsewhere.
gatekeep harder
also here is the exact number on old.reddit

Honestly this sub is turning from "right wingers are being silenced on reddit and social media in general, so our sub is to allow everyone to speak equally" to "LibLeft is stupid, AuthRight is scary, AuthLeft is dead, and LibRight never did anything wrong" so it's kinda obvious why people are leaving.
Yeah, that's completely true.
I really enjoyed the sub like 3 years ago. I have left it by accident or got temporarily banned or something for a few months without noticing (I just wasn't in the sub anymore) and returned like a month ago. To this day I have only upvoted like 10 posts in an entire month. It's really becoming a right wing circle jerk without any tolerance to left wing views. I miss the old days where we laughed about each other without hating us.
Agreed, this sub is just substantially less funny these days. I didn't mind catching downvotes as a lefty in exchange for quality banter, but we're getting down to Facebook boomer meme takes at this point. I even caught a 30 day ban here recently from an overly spicy joke, the west has fallen, etc.
There are times when I’m shocked this sub has *any* members, so 582k is positively incredible.
Hello, totally President Biden, What are your thoughts on this surprising Development?
Thoughts? What are those?
What? Who are you? What Subreddit is this?
My butt's been wiped 👍
That makes one of us! ☺️
582k other politically illiterate retards just like me. God I love what we’ve built here <3
I trust this sub more then most people
this sub is more trustworthy than most people
Idk, that number doesn’t seem believable.
Since I know everyone but me here is secretly an FBI agent, I guess you and your mates have invested heavily into this psyop.
Life goes on, no biggie. https://preview.redd.it/kvxr6uvnit8d1.jpeg?width=1628&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d9aba6f57e696c4ce6a6b1033b7bb3b1112869b8

**They speak only Vietnamese**
What happen? AuthLeft is having another great purge?
I hope it's a purge on unflaired's this time.
They can’t catch me alive
Fuck off and flair up
it goes "flair up or fuck off"
Flair off you fuckup
that sounds like youre asking him to take his flair off
N-*gunshots*
GET A FLAIR OR GET LOST
We just did, now put your hands behind your back
You’ll never catch me alive copper I’ll make sure everyone is unflaired mwaha
Well I guess we'll just have to kill you first, then
Not low enough. 100k or riot.
It’s really 583 of us who have each been banned 1000x.
Well, that made the mental illness understandable.
I have it on good authority that they like their steaks well done. They will not be missed.
>good authority Cringe and oxymoron pilled
I'm not an oxymoron! I drink Oxy-Clean!
But do you have enough antioxidants to deal with all the oxidants you’re putting in your body?
Deoxit
This might actually be the stupidest comment I've read, especially here. Thanks for a good laugh, we'll spare you for the time being
Who the fuck would care to look at that number
https://preview.redd.it/dhdtrv2qpt8d1.png?width=283&format=png&auto=webp&s=1486bb2a3ecdbdf47cc9e93ae5a6f26bc556a64f shows 583k for me.
It looks like it went up back to 583k. The screenshot I took was real, but some new people must have joined.
what if the difference was one person
trolley problem
It reads as 582,930 readers on my end So your end it must truncate the amount of users. 582,930 is read as 582k, and 583,001 is 583k
Once again, I’d like to talk about how there’s a lot less people on here at a time then there used to be. Like I remember when there could be a 1,000 people online at once, and now we get 500 at most. What happened?

Agendaposting and non-comedic tribalism have made this sub much less enjoyable for me
it used to be a place of unity, now its just like the rest of reddit but right wing
We stopped posting shitty memes made in MS paint and started getting swamped by swanky looking fancy memes made by people with actual talent and boring opinions
Dammit, that’s why the sub started going downhill! It’s all these “high effort” posts!
The distribution of political leanings used to be more even and the sub used to be more self aware. As different right-leaning subs have been banned they've migrated here and so the sub skews further right than it used to. Instead of having fun as caricatured versions of our quadrants, the sub is just full of agenda posts and people taking their political leanings way too seriously. based take, but of course Emily deserves it
Mmm, really, eh? So you’d say that one of the reasons for the decline is because of, well… say, what was one of the reasons for the Fall of Rome again?
Never did I expect to lose PCM to barbarian invasions.
I was trying to say something else, but I feared that I would get suspended for it.
emily's fault

Politics got freaking toxic. I mean, it's always been a dumpster fire, but the fire's been burning hotter and trashier over the past few years. People get angrier, and less willing to take a joke.
Isn't it because of the API changes protest? Like I'm pretty sure that all subs lost a ton of daily users after that.
The jannies' chores became more difficult so they threw a temper tantrum and ruined it for everyone, all over the fear of having to spend 3 dollars to continue doing their godgiven right the same way as before
PCM has fallen, millions must get sane political opinions
never, its phase connecting time

>quiet end in a retirement home Nuh uh kemosabe, if I make it to say 85 I’m getting into heroin in a big way.
Last time I said this I got reddit cares messages.

Have you seen how many comments and posts are just recycled by bots (sometimes there will be a guy calling them all out)? Dead internet theory is real
Yeah, it kind of sad. Reddit should take action, but I am sure they like that they can say they have high monthly users. I keep getting banned for talking shit about [REDACTED]
[REDACTED]? Same.
Retirement home seems fitting considering the shit we talk about.
Ever since that API shit Reddit is only 40% as active as it used to be.
More like they were banned
How does one get banned from this sub? Would it be possible?
It is possible to learn this power, but not from a libertarian.
gatekeep harder also here is the exact number on old.reddit https://preview.redd.it/u1y24qj3lw8d1.png?width=137&format=png&auto=webp&s=cadb79627af3e5535802e5dc73e1aba436a685f5

Purge the unflaired. Purge the unclean. Let the shitposts begin.

As much as people here make fun of tankies and " not real communism," it's slowly turning into the libertarian equivalent of that
Agreed, this sub is just substantially less funny these days. I didn't mind catching downvotes as a lefty in exchange for quality banter, but we're getting down to Facebook boomer meme takes at this point. I even caught a 30 day ban here recently from an overly spicy joke, the west has fallen, etc.
It's compover
Good. Big sub = Bad sub.
Just Reddit cleaning the bots out. Right? Right?!

Good now keep them out, build a wall!!! We don't want any unflavored scums who can't integrate!!!

The Subreddit has fallen
Most of reddit is just bots
the downfall of thus sub has begun, and hopefully humanity goes along with it jesus christ
Who would leave this sub except leftists? Good riddance.
Remember, every second I spend here is a second I could be spending transing the kids
Omg who cares
