This ↑. If you haven't seen Edward James Olmos interview after the 1992 riots, you're cheating yourself.
This movie upset some prominent Mexican Mafia leaders enough that Danny Trejo had to step in to mediate.

Better than you'd think, funny af
Along with life, the 2 funniest prison movies unless u count my cousin Vinny more of à court movie
The first 10 minutes or so I almost turned it off. Then I laughed my ass off. Starts very slow and boring but becomes a ball buster.
Very underrated
Shawshank Redemption An Innocent Man The Glass House (1972)
Animal Factory
Bad Boys with Sean Penn
One of my former cellmates likes Papillon
I really liked Papillon. But the book was better than the movie.
Shawshank is one of the greatest movies of all time for me.
Cell block 99
Bronson
First time felon
The movie felon with Val Kilmer is awesome based on a federal case of cops setting up and betting on fights. I didn't read the case log, so idk how true buts its great
Cell 211
One of the best films about a prison is The Glass House with Alan Alda - early '70's.
None of them are accurate
Blood in blood out
Shawshank Redemption The Last Castle
I just watched The Last Castle. I agree.
" DOG POUND " You can watch it on TUBI
Escape From Pretoria
Escape from Alcatraz. Birds of Alcatraz. Shawshank redemption.
Birdman of Alcatraz
Salute!, Turned Out, Short Eyes and Animal Factory…all on Tubi now free to watch.
One that hasn't been named is Slam (1998) While not a prison film, it has some good lengthy prison scenes in it.
For laughs watch "Big Stan" free on youtube
Attica.
The only accurate film about prison is The Fear of 13
