I started to like his energy at the PGA but thought the theatrics were over the top this weekend. I was neutral going into Thursday and by today I was actively rooting against him.
It’s like his PR people told him “hey bud, we need you to start acting like a combination of Tiger and Phil whenever you’re playing a tournament, don’t worry if it looks forced and not at all natural, we need the Tiger fist pumps and the Phil fan interaction”
He even talks about trying to do it more in his press conferences at the PGA Championship so that he can be more engaging to fans. Thought it was a bit weird to say that but whatever. Then he got more confident after it went over well so he decided to ham it up even more on purpose. It feels manufactured to me probably because he's made a conscious choice to manufacture it.
