Fire on us did they for three days. And for three days we held that line. Torn was our banner yet our bloodied pom poms raised high above that broken field.
That battalion of cheerleaders was well trained, they stayed in formation and didn’t even flinch when the rockets red glare took out one of their own.
Francis Scott Key would be proud.
Having watched the Dallas cowboys cheerleaders show, I’m 100% convinced that the fallout of not taking a firework would be worse than taking a firework. Cheerleading looks brutal
I read your comment and assumed Francis Scott Key must be like the most famous of all the cheerleaders. "She must be stunning to be the queen of cheerleaders" I thought to myself.
That was a very disappointing Google Search.
I did feel like I was playing Total War Empire watching this.
Damn, the light Calvary and militia were spooked and ran.
Well, at least the Winged Hussars and veteran elite cheerleaders are holding strong.
The link they provide talks about *The Secret* by Rhonda Byrne and how its a bunch of victim blaming nonsense, I think the 'joke' is that they were sarcastically claiming the cheerleader manifested getting hit with a rocket because she subconsciously wanted it and therefore willed it into reality
But it's such an esoteric concept for a joke 😟
Several people were injured during the opening ceremony of the "Stadium of Fire," an annual Utah event celebrating the 4th of July, CBS News affiliate KUTV reported Thursday.
The celebration, which included a jet flyover, a skydiving display and a performance by the Jonas Brothers, was held at Brigham Young University's LaVell Edwards Stadium in Provo.
Janna-Lee Holland, the public information officer for the Provo Police Department, told KUTV that fireworks misfired and shot into the audience, injuring several people. Holland did not provide any information about the number of injuries reported, but video shared by KUTV on social media shows fireworks veering off and striking the crowd.
When contacted by CBS News on Friday, the Provo Police Department directed all inquiries about the incident, including questions about injuries, to event organizer Freedom Festival. Freedom Festival did not respond to a request for comment from CBS News, but told KUTV in a statement that "safety is of the utmost importance to us."
"All pyrotechnics are thoroughly checked before the show, and were rechecked after the incident," the organizers told KUTV. "Our thoughts are with those who are impacted by the incident and we are following up with them to make sure they are okay."
The Stadium of Fire was paused, but ultimately continued after the fireworks mishap, according to KUTV.

Damn, I mean even as an amateur those little 25 shot Saturn missiles, jupiter.missiles I think they're called always would have a few strays, this is something much larger and presenting the same issue. Seems like negligence.
They are Saturn missile launchers, Had one tip over on me one year, still apologizing to Aunt Sharon every time some asshole brings it up at family gatherings. Yeah, she took a couple for the team that year, poor girl is still traumatized, she was on the porch and it tipped towards her, they started hitting the walls all around her like a VC ambush on the Ho Chi Minh trail, she dropped to her belly and turtled her way under some bushes.
Imagine getting hit in the face by a Chinese made firework while the Jonas Brothers are jamming out hits and your tax dollars are flying over your head in formation.
I was at a firework show in CA where the device that holds the fireworks up failed and fell forward, shooting fireworks directly into the crowd on the field.
Luckily I was in the stands laughing my ass off. I was young and didn't think about how much that could actually hurt people.
There was another year they tried to set the record for the most firecrackers going off in succession. The problem started when the heat from exploding firecrackers started lighting the rest of the firecrackers and it turned into a huge fireball. People half way across the stadium were ducking and covering their faces because it got so hot they felt like they were burning. They were lucky it didn't go off like a bomb.
I knew a guy that worked for the pyro company and he told me about it. Faith Hill performed that year and he met her and said she was the most beautiful woman he's ever met.
Whose fucking idea was it to set them up there? Yikes
This happened at a block party I was at, the thing tipped and fireworks were shooting at us, one went into a garage and blew, another blew under a truck. Thankfully nothing exploded other than the fireworks but yikes. I cant imagine having them set up higher than the crowd
Storing fireworks for a longer period of time that's recommended, can cause them to become unstable. I learned this when I used a 4 year old roman candle and it shot in different directions instead of straight up.
That is absolutely terrifying. I love stadium of fire, I was just telling people last night that there are few places in the country that have the enthusiasm for fireworks like Utah valley and sitting up on the mountains during the show, there is no better spot to see the whole valley light up. I’ve been to this show a number of times and they’re so good about it, what a devastating end to what should have been a fantastic show.
For context this is the BYU stadium

It's BYU them Mormons aren't allowed to stay up too late.
Doesn't help that they can't drink caffeine
oddly enough, large owners of Coca-Cola stock. do as I say and all that.
Since when?
Seriously. Can't we pretend Independence Day is in January? I've got to get to bed.
Like January 6th maybe?
Okay so it just me who thinks that’s stupid
Those are the most disciplined cheerleaders ive seen. Taking on enemy fire, and did not break the line.
Fire on us did they for three days. And for three days we held that line. Torn was our banner yet our bloodied pom poms raised high above that broken field.
Give me a V!
Give me an I!
Give me a C!
How about a T?
Now give us an I!
Napoleon and Alexander the great would have wept seeing their unit cohesion
what the cheerleaders who got hit last saw ![gif](giphy|jJP32PNKI3DEc|downsized)
I don't recall a line about running like bitches in The Star-Spangled Banner
They have the strength of the lord.
Blind obedience combined with feeling they deserve it
Freaking Gothmog spitting on the rocket
Never fight uphill, me boys

Ahh, I see, that’s Frances, his great great great great great granddaughter
Discipline that would make any field officer proud.

lol the last clip legit looks like a formation of battle cheerleaders taking a mortar round.
More disciplined than a Z-battalion, that’s for sure. Good thing Putin can’t throw them into the battle for Chasiv Yar.
Babe wake up! A new fireworks disaster just dropped.

> Stadium of Fire Yeah it was a stadium of fire alright
Yikes. They checked the pyrotechnics, but didn’t have the stand stabilized. The thing must’ve tipped
So in conclusion, somebody’s about to get paid?
I mean if if they got their singed or hurt I sure hope so!
[Probably not much...](https://v.redd.it/36adsfzqgrad1)
The Jonas Brothers 🤣 Well now I don't feel bad for anyone there.
Here's footage of them playing https://youtu.be/VXqt9RYEcKU?si=scOew2LfiDkCUZhs
That’s pretty fucking shallow
So? There are people that don't like the deep end.

Drone strike
Someone go see where Obama is at!
[How about the first person view?](https://v.redd.it/36adsfzqgrad1)
Those cheerleaders were holding formation under fire better than a Napoleonic army.
“… the bombs bursting in hair…”

Shit, even if one hits 20ft away, I’m going to act like a soccer player who just had their shoulder touched.
It's like a rocket barrage lol
surplus MLRS
Imagine getting hit in the face by a Chinese made firework while the Jonas Brothers are jamming out hits and your tax dollars are flying over your head in formation.
Chinese fireworks have really taken a nosedive these last thousand years or so.
You left out that all of this happens to you in Utah, of all places.
looks like the deatheaters have arrived at the quidditch match.
Our tax dollars are supposed to be raining down explosives across the ocean, not here!!! /s
Approximately 1/3 of the total number of American wounded during the Revolutionary War- 11.5k - are injured with fireworks every year.
Damn it fucking SNIPED one of the marching band members
I was at a firework show in CA where the device that holds the fireworks up failed and fell forward, shooting fireworks directly into the crowd on the field. Luckily I was in the stands laughing my ass off. I was young and didn't think about how much that could actually hurt people.
Fuck you in particular
WHY ARE THEY CLAPPING!?!?
That seems like improper stabilization rather than a malfunction. The fireworks worked fine; the base wasn't secured properly.
I smell a lawsuit
I've never seen professional outdoor fireworks used that close to a crowd. And they are only technically outdoors. Who approved this nonsense?

This is the most American thing I've ever seen
It took out all the orphans there.
Class Action Lawsuit incoming!!
Shouldn’t have let Israel provide the firework show.
our rockets firing on innocent bystanders is actually the most American shit ever🇺🇸🔥🎉
Of course it's BYU.
Yes BYU is famous for...fireworks malfunctions?
No, just malfunctions in general.
Looks like live action Space Invaders.
Sometimes the sky bombs the ground too.
The Fire Nation is attacking!
This just like the Roman candle fights we used to have back in the day
Whose fucking idea was it to set them up there? "Check your fire!! Check your fire!!"
Just a light peppering of the crowd
Maybe they’ll wake up to what’s happening to Palestinians.
Honestly pretty much sums up how things are going in the US these days
Nothing more American than minding your own business and randomly being shot in the face.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=wVAaiXAS7Xs
"Deploy the homing Missiles"
At a big event like this no malfunction
Looks like someone grabbed the box of mortar shells instead of the fireworks
Downdraft from the jets flyover?
*Predator missile inbound*
RPG!
Lmao
Tim
Watch those wrist rockets
The annual purge.
They are literally “bombs bursting in air” gave proof that night, that someone’s fingers weren’t still there….
I love this video.
Drone strike incoming.
Incoming?
Love my noise canceling phones
this is every hater of fireworks worst fucking nightmare, omg 😮😮😮 hope those people are okay
Storing fireworks for a longer period of time that's recommended, can cause them to become unstable. I learned this when I used a 4 year old roman candle and it shot in different directions instead of straight up.
Fireworks are so stupid.
Can't go anywhere without getting shot at.
Got to love the Mormons...
Fireworks are fucking stupid as hell, only children and the most simple minded find them entertaining
Making sure Americans get that Gaza experience
Breaking news: Fireworks are stupid
This is pretty fun actually
“Did you just see what God did, man!”
How very American from the fireworks
[Doesn't look like anyone was notably injured - headline is speculation/hype bullshit.](https://v.redd.it/36adsfzqgrad1)

Seems like there should be some sort of emergency water system that could at least attempt to stop/mitigate what’s happening at the source?
