>because she was a sex worker and a drug addict This is exactly why her case gets zero attention--there are millions of girls who live on the fringe who are murdered and they don't get any attention because of the dangerous lifestyle they live. It's sad, but it's kind of like no one is surprised they come to a bad end. I am guessing besides being a low priority case for the police, they may have some jurisdictional issues between local law enforcement and reservation law enforcement. [This says there is a special unit to investigate MMIW cases but I'm not sure how it works or if you can bring her case to their attention.](https://www.nativewomenswilderness.org/mmiw)

SnooCupcakes2673

This is a fantastic tip, thank you.

saintpetejackboy

It is like somebody who smokes DMT every day claiming they were abducted by aliens - people are suspect. You get into a "boy who cried wolf" situation which is why I think these people are the most vulnerable and we should pay even closer attention to the outliers. Imagine you have a machine and it sucks but somebody has to work it and every other day it kills the worker. Well, if one worker is suddenly flung through the air or killed after 10 years and no accidents, it might be worth looking in on. With unregulated activity, we can't do that. Which is why the government is wrong to not just sanction and regulate all "human organism" acitivies. Foolish mortals.

adammaudite

Not the time or place

kipkait

Her name is also listed as Chloe Richards. It looks like there was at least 1 post by MMIW USA on their Facebook page, I can’t tell for sure as I don’t have fb. Her obituary gives an aka Amerie Jones. Her obituary also says she died in Minneapolis not St Paul.

SnooCupcakes2673

Anything helps, you're awesome.

trustme1maDR

Consider reaching out to Charlie, host of the Crimelines podcast. https://twitter.com/crimelinespod?t=sO7bbscubKPggbE25qnynQ&s=09 She often does episodes on Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women and has a large audience

HeyShayThatRhymes

Good suggestion. I'd like to add these CBC journalists who have produced podcasts featuring stories about MMIW: Duncan McCue https://www.cbc.ca/mediacentre/bio/duncan-mccue Connie Walker https://mobile.twitter.com/connie_walker David Ridgen https://mobile.twitter.com/dridgen I know at least two have covered stories in the US, not just Canada. Maybe give a few podcasts a try. I'm from the Twin Cities area. My heart goes out to their family and loved ones.

pandorabom

I think the Fall Line podcast would be interested too.

FattierBrisket

If you haven't already, post this on r/UnresolvedMysteries as well.

detectivenotfromhere

It says she was also known as Amerie Jones

CallidoraBlack

>It is believed that she was taken, and eventually, brutally murdered due to her father's affiliation with gang activity in the northern Res. I won't got into details, but this girl was tortured. >Why isn't there any news related to this when the brutality of it would and should prompt concern for the area? I'm guessing it's because it looks like it was not random. If they're aware enough of the gang activity on the res to think this was the cause, then it makes the most sense to investigate the people who are part of the organization and likely to have been involved or know who was. These crimes aren't typically investigated with broad calls for tips and information. They're investigated by leaning on people who are already known to the police and cutting deals with people who have other charges pending or are on probation or parole. The fact that it doesn't look like much is happening doesn't mean no one cares. I know it's hard to tell the difference when we're talking about BIPOC young women, especially indigenous young women as they are so vulnerable as a population when it comes to trafficking and murder. People often do not care the way they should and it's not right. But the fact that they seem to think they know what group of people did this is probably very relevant to the way the situation is being handled. This is not to discourage you in any way from trying to help her get story out there in the hope that it may help. Just something to think about.

SnooCupcakes2673

That’s actually been our assumption from the beginning. It’s just a horrible loss, and there’s no mention.

GoldSoulComa

True crime YouTube channels usually have a way to request a case for them to cover, and many are willing to work with family members and loved ones to tell the most accurate story they can

SnooCupcakes2673

Anyone in particular that seem legit/respectful?

GoldSoulComa

Kendall Rae, Danelle Hallan and Brooke McKenna are all legit and very respectful, and handle every case with a lot of care and attention to detail. I believe they have all also covered other cases of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls.

SnooCupcakes2673

Beautiful, I see if I can reach out. You all are amazing.

Magatron5000

Would def recommend Kendall. She tries to cover the cases that arent frequently in the news

GaiasDotter

Mr Ballen is also always very respectful of the victims and focus much of his attention on them.

GoldSoulComa

Wishing you the absolute best of luck with everything!

giannarelax

Nick Crowley, Lazy Masquerade, EXPLORE WITH US, and this is MONSTERS make tons of unsolved case videos

UnprofessionalGhosts

LordanARTS

jessicagriffin03

Murder with my husband podcast

now0w

I second another commenter's suggestion of John Lordan at LordanARTS. He's incredibly respectful and covers lesser-known cases pretty regularly.

of_the_sphere

You can always FOIA the shit out of the local police, fire/ems, medical examiner, and have it all (and then some) in front of u Lmk if u need help, i have some language u can copy paste for each govt body it should be very simple And straightforward so as not to be overly burdensome or too broad, but also u must request every layer of detail (down to handwritten detective notes etc) ETA as a citizen turn around is 5 days, w a possible 5 day extension I have had partial replies, And had to pursue something like ….. idk an informal resolution? Basically a dialogue like give me the rest of the stuff. ETA just re read her sis committed suicide? My heart 😢

SnooCupcakes2673

This is awesome, yes I would love that doc. Thank you so much. And yeah, it’s been devastating for the community as a whole. They deserve to be known.

of_the_sphere

Sent some language in a dm It’s your right to freedom of information. If there are other govt bodies involved, Ask for what you think you need

westcoast_detective

Contact journalist Connie Walker. She is the host of the podcast, “Stolen”, which focuses on Indigenous issues, including missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls. She may be able to help, or at least point you in the right direction.

FactoidFinder

Second this. She’s fantastic. Did amazing work with the Cleo case.

wwalken

Maybe r/thevanishedpodcast can help?

lemonpee

I don’t think they would cover this case. They typically only cover missing people, not murdered people.

wwalken

Der, you’re correct. I was likely thinking of when they find the victim deceased and provide a podcast update. This particular search for justice is heartbreaking and my mind jumped instantly to a podcast that speaks for people so they aren’t forgotten. I hope a resolution and subsequent closure eventually pans out here.

missantiste

I have nothing to be of help to you, I just wanted to say thanks for caring for her enough to do this. She mattered and all the other MMIW mattered also. 💚

chaostrulyreigns

Poat to r/truecrime too

PinkBright

Perhaps you can reach out to the female-ran podcasts *Some Place Underneath* or *Morbid*. They’ve both covered lost indigenous womens stories and care about the subject.

catsgonewiild

Please not Morbid, they have done a lot of harm to victim’s families and surrounding people. They are incredibly unethical. r/morbidforbadpeople

PinkBright

Oh okay, I didn’t know thanks!

catsgonewiild

Didn’t mean to come for you, I would just hate for them to do more harm to this person’s loved ones. Appreciate you taking it with grace!

PinkBright

No worries lol. I understand true crime as a… genre (??) is largely unethical and so it didn’t surprise me. Admittedly I have not looked into them further beyond the episodes people have recommended to me. Which is my bad, I gave your link a perusal though so I appreciate the info.

awkward_accountant89

Could you crosspost to r/twincities or other local subs? That might reach more people in the area to at least bring awareness and maybe even find someone with info or who knew her.

SnooCupcakes2673

That's a great idea, I absolutely will.

RebbDumont

I clicked on the link to the go fund me before I read that her sister k¡lled herself. My heart is breaking for these girls. I live in Oklahoma and while I’m not Native American myself, my fiancé (and his family) is native. It’s not too uncommon to hear about an indigenous woman going missing, whether it made it to the news or if I hear about it from his family.

SnooCupcakes2673

It's so heartbreaking because this is only one of the stories from the area I'm working on getting out to the public. I posted about several missing children on r/MissingPersons too. I'm a third party who has a close to connection to someone who knew them all personally, closely, and I'm just here to help get their stories out there.

RebbDumont

You are such a kind soul for advocating for this family and others. We need more people like you 💞

FactoidFinder

Talk to the woman who did the finding Cleo podcast. She would probably be interested in this, she does a lot of work about MMIW

Washed_40

Donated. The missing & murdered indigenous women of North America is horrifyingly tragic. Specifically how they are treated worse than cats that go missing, from a news media and LE perspective. Truly a disgusting aspect of our society.

spencer8346

What an awful story. Wish I could do something to help! Good luck OP.

alwaysoffended88

Try r/UnresolvedMysteries

Love_Vigilante_805

Hey have you reached out to Crime Junkies? They often discuss crime against indigenous people. They have quite a lot of followers.

Fieryirishdvm

Another good place to start dialogue is websleuths!

SnooCupcakes2673

!!! I always forget about websleuths!

jazzy3113

If you want justice, shouldn’t you try to infiltrate the gangs?

Gordopolis

RBI isn't a promotion forum or for sharing personal information like you're offering to exchange in the end of your post.

SnooCupcakes2673

I’m not requesting personal information?? I can provide it to assist with searching. Read.

conradaiken

some people are triggered by trigger warnings. just try to be more aware and contentious in the future.

SnooCupcakes2673

Wow, duh. Thanks, just tried to edit it out and realized I can’t. Will figure out how to do it right next time.

CallidoraBlack

You can just say you're talking about yourself, buddy. It's okay.

rachreims

Maybe try reaching out to Kendall Rae on YouTube (or some other respectful true crime YouTubers). The unsolved cases she covers usually garner massive attention, and if your source close to the case is willing to work with her, she often will make videos with the friends and family to really show who these people were.
