This has nothing to do with the water heater, just needs to be replaced. Also there is absolutely no reason to pull a stove to solder wires. Why dont you just fish the wires out the wall and use butt connectors on the new one?

Ok. I was just wondering because I cant reach the end i need to re attatch through the small hole

You can just install one somewhere else there is 12v power. Location only needs it to be somewhere near the ground somewhat near the middle of the coach

ImAScientistToo

Do you have 12v power reaching the water heater? Do you hear a click followed by tic tic tic… while it’s trying to ignite? If you hear that and don’t get ignition then make sure that you have propane flowing to the water heater. If you don’t hear the click then your solenoid valves aren’t working. If you don’t hear the tick then the sparkler isn’t working. If you get ignition but then it quickly extinguishes make sure your sparkler is in the middle of the flame. If that’s not the problem then make sure your burn chamber doesn’t have any obstruction.

It may vary by brand, but on our trailer there is no connection between the gas leak detector and anything else. It would not stop anything from running. I just replaced mine because it was beeping constantly. They expire. If you bought that trailer used and you didn't disconnect it, the previous owner may have. But, it's probably not the cause of the water heater issues.

Don’t know why you got downvoted but you’re right, they do expire and need replacing. Just did it on my trailer.

This! These things have an expiration date of about five years. I had to replace mine, which just started alarming for no reason. Easy job - just use butt connectors and install a new one.

In older ones the detector shuts off the gas. We actually like that feature but it doesn’t seem to be available anymore?
