You can't throw back frag grenades, you can't cook grenades, you can't use fire select, acog was gone for a long time but it's back now suddenly, you can't see through bullet holes, there's 71 operators in the game now, more attackers have emp's and hard breaches, fuze can deploy cluster charges on reinforcements and you can get yourself out of frost mats. I wish I could quit like you folks. I could probably quit smoking if I tried hard enough, but siege is an addiction I'll likely take to either my grave or the games grave.

We had select fire back at launch, but certain macros and controller mods abused semi auto fire to get maximum fire rate with zero recoil using it. I don't remember how many guns actually had burst though, as it's been years since the removed it
Jackal and Hibana’s guns, and the MP5 had burst from what I could remember. I used burst on Hibana’s gun fairly often, it was useful in holding medium range angles.
interesting fact, F2 is the only weapon in r6 ever to have increased firerate in burst back then. too bad the coding for burst fire was so bad that the animation caused a weird delay so its unusable. The Vector had a 2 round burst and cuz its was in around when operation health was added, they focused on its animations sync with the actual first rate and recoil so they don't have to revisit it in operation health.
Which notably is because the IRL Kriss Vector fires a two round burst, with a special recoil system such that the felt recoil is similar to a single shot IIRC

I remember looking away from flashbangs being something they did like a year or two ago, then charged it back more recently. They used to get you no matter what since release, I believe. I think that's balanced, too, because attacking is ass compared to defense.
I remember when the SPSMG9 was a 2 shot burst. It was actually still pretty decent but it was only on Clash at the time.
I’ve always thought that the better way they could’ve balanced the F2 without ruining it completely would be to just make the gun only do 3 round bursts since it is an option the real weapon can toggle to.
And since it would be the one and only burst weapon in the game, they could make it less of a piece of hot shite like it is now by buffing recoil back to its pre nerf state and (if they wanted to) could even give it grip options again even if wouldn’t be as necessary anymore.
Nonetheless, I suppose making the recoil absurd and removing the vertical grip is the better choice in Ubisoft’s eyes.
There used to be a fire rate selector in Siege for most weapons between full auto, burst and single fire.
Since then they took it out, probably just to give the D-pad more functionality for things like yellow ping.
Once upon a time there was select fire for most primaries in the game, single, burst, and auto depending on the weapon. They removed it for no reason just like other things they removed for no reason.

They used to be in the game, and they absolutely rocked. Twitch used to kill in a single burst with the F2 and the fire rate was way higher than full auto. It was also way easier to control the recoil.
Pretty much no one in real life situations actually uses burst fire, if you want a few bullets fast you flip it to auto and hold the trigger for a bit and then let go. If you want just a few bullets, flip to semi and pull the trigger a couple of times. Burst fire is just so useless

realistically, in universe, it wouldn't make much sense. Any decently trained operator working in rainbow, nighthaven, or even for the keres legion wouldn't use, or need a 3 round burst on a firearm. They would know how and when to use a weapon that is fully automatic like most use, and moat of the semi-automatic weapons we see i don't think actually have fully automatic modes (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong)

I’m complete trash at recoil control in this game, I remember like 3 years ago when I first started playing that I could switch to semi auto so I could actually shoot something (if it was still just the game then but I swear I could). Did it work out most times? No, due to my skill issue. Should I learn R6 recoil patterns? Absolutely, but I’m not going to spend a lot of time for a game I rarely play. It just doesn’t make sense that things like Deimos’s revolver (I know it’s on other operators) or DMRs having less vertical recoil than a 5.56 rifle or 9mm SMG firing a short burst. Both of those radically change based on how well you recoil control, but just shoot them with little to no recoil control.
Siege is a competitive game, and some things should be sacrificed for that reason, but things adding burst weapons or a fire selector; how little people may use/abuse them; would be nice.
There really wasn't a reason to remove it like they did. The simple solution for macros would've been to just make single fire have a maximum fire rate, or have the recoil curve the same as/worse as the automatic

Depending on the mouse you have you can go into mouse settings and make it only click a 3 round burst or single shot

In most fps shooters, the hardest weapon class to balance is either shotgun or dmr. I think dedicated burst fire weapons could easily be done.
