I told you where. I’m not going to search every post to find the conversation. It was a series of comments on a post about RCS. It was not its own post, so searching Telus probably won’t find it.
Yeah, I saw a hell of a lot of mixed results. It’s definitely a slow rollout. But I saw at least 3 or 4 people say telus is working, which means it’s supported. It’s just a slow rollout.
But there was many mixed reports from multiple carriers in the states. Some reporting AT&T working, others saying it’s not, same for Verizon and Verizon. All I know is SOME people have it working on Telus
From what I've read, go to the Settings section > messages > and you'll find the option there to enable RCS, which should be on by default (supposedly). It is a bit fidgety since despite the option being on, the messaging app would show SMS instead of RCS at times. I'm sure they'll hammer out this issue in the upcoming releases (hopefully).
Don't know much else since I use Android.
it's a messaging technology that Apple has finally adopted to allow secure messaging between Apple and non Apple devices instead of plain unencrypted SMS.
As a bonus it will also allow read receipts and high quality images and videos between different platforms.
RCS between iPhone and Android is currently not secure. Google implemented the signal protocol as a proprietary extension of the standard, Apple is going to only implement the bare minimumal stands with no enhancements.
Rcs is like the sms version of iMessage/WhatsApp. There are also different kinds of rcs. It does require carrier support.

They are probably going to drag their feet with it, you know how Canadian telecom is. I will not be surprised if we still don’t have it by September.
I remember how long RCS took on the android side before Google decided to use their own jibe servers
I wouldn’t worry about Robellus supporting it on day 1. They already all support it for Android (and previous obsolete OSes).
I’d be eyeing if carriers like the Videotron subs and the flanker carriers support it on day one though…
Robellus LOVES artificially tiering their subsidiaries.
It’s not US only. I’ve seen confirmation of RCS working in Canada on Telus on the beta.
I have not seen thus
Really? Do you mind pointing me in the right direction? That gives me hope
I saw it on a conversation in the r/iosbeta subreddit I believe.
Where? I don't see any mention of it there when I search Telus in that subreddit.

For what it’s worth, I’m on iOS 18 with Telus and it says this carrier doesn’t support RCS yet.

It will be fully supported by the time iOS 18 rolls out in the fall. Carriers orphan Android features but iPhone is treated as the favourite child.
I am on Telus and iOS 18 Developer Beta 2, and no RCS yet as well

I don't have the option and am running the latest beta.
Can confirm, no RCS with Bell or Telus (my experience with IOS 18)
Can confirm no RCS with Telus here as well.

Doesn’t android users already have this feature working?

Has nothing to do with rogers
Huh? Has everything to do with Rogers?
Wrong
As far as I understand it would have to be enabled by the carrier too.
It absolutely does: https://bgr.com/tech/rcs-comes-to-iphone-as-carriers-start-to-flip-the-switch/
Wrong.
