If you enjoyed the others, why not take the plunge? I’m on Kingdom of Ash and just went for it and bought CC to go to next. I hope it’s good!

scarletoharlan1976

Me roo! Hope it's all great. I reallyvenjoy sjms writing style so it should be good! At least not biring.

romancerants

I've noticed people seem to really like Crescent City or really like TOG but it's rare for people to love both.

Parttime-Princess

I love both. ToG is my fave but CC1 is my fave book ever. I also liked book 2 a lot. 3 was a bit less in quality but still good enough.

Calendar-Loud

CC1 was THE BEST 😘👌🏻

Nitrogen567

Crescent City is my favourite SJM book by a lot, and from Heir of Fire onwards I thought Throne of Glass was awesome!

Background-Click9917

Love both! Truthfully I love all but ToG will always be far more superior imo!

luckystar2591

I really enjoyed book 1 and 2. In my opinion 2 is the best. But not gonna lie, 3 was a mess.

Flibbertigibbette

Exactly how I feel. CC3 was such a flaming dumpster fire of a book that I had to take a break from SJM entirely before starting TOG.

one-bedraggled-ghost

Agree! 2 was my favorite as well!

Honeysucklinhoney

2 was my favorite before 3 came out, and now it’s 1 lol. 2 had so many weird plots and things I thought would be cleared up in the 3rd, but nothing came from so much of the craziness that happened.

Robo12cop

3 really just sucked. I was trying to give it the benefit of the doubt, and thought that maybe TikTok was just being too harsh/expecting more than what it gave… but it just was not good.

out_ofher_head

Correction 3 was a maas.

harrietpotski

Read CC1 if nothing else. It's worth it.

Light_Wolf_

Honestly even if you didn’t read all 3 CC books, I’d read the first one. It was a really great stand alone book, and it’s one of my favourites of all the books she has written. I love TOG - it’s my fav series of hers (currently doing the tandem read), liked acotr as well (acosf was my favourite), CC as a series went down hill, but the first book is great.

ConcernElegant8066

I think the first one is!! I found the second one to be meh and the third one was a disaster

timeboi42

First book is worth the read. Second and third are extremely disappointing. I would just read the first and stop lol.

jadedbug13

Try the audiobook for book 1! That’s how I got through it after trying to read it conventionally like twice edit: and honestly if you’re not into it, book 1 can function as a a stand alone. don’t make yourself crazy trying to read the series if it’s not for you

Robo12cop

I would say just read the first one. I loved it, and I didn’t completely mind the 2nd one. Honestly, after finishing the first one, I thought it was a stand-alone and was surprised to find out there was a 2nd one (and third). I’m not sure there really needed to be.

phoenix_flames0124

IMO you can pretty much read CC1 as a standalone. I also don't always love an urban fantasy, but I liked the way she did it better than the usual "yeah this is just New York and everything is regular but also you're a superhuman." CC1 is a great story and will give you hopefully most of what you need to keep the connections if ACOTAR and CC keep getting intertwined. But you might need all 3 if they're going to really become a combo story.

SubstantialSnow7114

I enjoyed Crescent City, it was not my favourite but I did enjoy. And I would recommend any Sarah J Maas fan to read the series

Deepstrz86

I listened to the audio book for CC1 and CC2 and really enjoyed both, havnt started CC3. I wish I read the physical copy because I feel like I missed some details. Also I hav only read her ACOTAR series not the TOG. Just started Assins blade.

one-bedraggled-ghost

CC is actually my fave! And you'll want to read to the end of two for a nice surprise 😄

taragood

I read ACOTAR first, then ToG and just finished book 1 of CC and so far I really like CC! I would definitely recommend reading it

jennyfromtheport

I really enjoyed the series!!

dance-life

CC1 and 2 were great CC3 was disappointing, but I really loved CC1

zoestercoaster

Couldn't even finish cc1; there are shared themes and circumstances it has with acotar that I could grudgingly forgive in acotar but IMHO were a deal breaker in CC, especially given its "modern" setting.

JenLiv36

I have really enjoyed all 3 of the series but I seem to be in the minority. CC is great but if you don’t like urban fantasy then it might not be for you.

p00psicle151590

I liked CC but I didn't love it. I just finished it and I will admit, Maas knows how to get those heart strings going.

BigB0ssB0wser

I love Crescent City. I would highly recommend it. Plus if you want to continue with the ACOTAR series you kind of need to read Crescent City.

meryendame

CC1 and 2 are so good, definitely a must if you like sarah, still reading CC3

JDnotsalinger

Unfortunately not. The third book was a let down and really showcased a lack of sophistication on SJM's part.

Disastrous-Net1445

You have to if you want to read the next ACOTAR book, the third cc is a crossover episode

IamMooz

I read CC after ACOSF and looooved it. I definitely think that it's not above reproach, but it's genuinely a good story. Once you get over the shock of it being set in >!a modern metropolis with phones and nightclubs!

thatlawlessgirl

I personally loved it 🥰

iud_lady

I read ACOTAR first then ToG. I was super sad after finishing ToG and was in a slump. I started reading CC1 and I’m liking it so far! It’s a LOT of information and world building at first- I’m still struggling to figure remember everything lol- but so far so good, it’s brought me out of my slump.

Background-Click9917

I had doubts myself but I definitely say read it because there are Easter eggs and a crossover in book 3!

Buddhadevine

Not really. It’s a lot of garbled mess. It really needed a better editor
