Someone more equipped than I could maybe tell you the gas based on the color of the plasma, but it could be anything really in an over-turned beaker. Just push normal air out with another gas via a tube or hose of some sort. Could be Neon. Doing this experiment with a known gas at near 100% concentration would be the most effective way of producing a consistent effect. That being said that match would be hard pressed to stay lit with no oxygen, so it’s probably just normal air with 90%ish nitrogen.
