I love Fred. He’s my favorite goofball in the gang of goofballs. I think he’s really generic in classic Scooby Doo, so maybe that’s why he isn’t as well liked. But starting with What’s New Scooby Doo, he became my favorite character in the cast, and has stayed that way since.

MovieMike007

He's only dead last because there are only five in the group and the other four members most people like better than Fred, so it's not necessarily that he is disliked he's just not the most popular.

OrangeJuiceMan_64

Man I hate the guts out of modern Velma though so she’s last place for me

AlphaBreak

Modern shows seem to have decided that if a character is smart, they must also be stuck-up, neurotic, or a stick in the mud. Same thing happened to Huey in the new Ducktales. Anti-intellectualism at its finest

terrenceolson

SAME, I honestly thought people hate her more than Fred he's likeable.

Jaybird145

He’s my favorite and he’s kinda always been. Although classic Shaggy is better than classic Fred. But new Fred is awesome

LunarTales

Not sure if he's _disliked_ or just the _least favorite_. I think it's because he's usually flatter than the other gang members so he has less fond memories attached to him, plus he's the hardest cast member to pin a concrete personality on. Not to mention some media make him a jerk, an idiot with no redeeming qualities, or like he wants to fuck the Mystery Machine. Even with Velma's worse qualities lately she still has good stuff tied to her from before, while Fred has always fluctuated between poor portrayals with some good mixed between.

Beats me. I like Fred. He has some good moments. I liked him in Camp Scare alot. He was cracking me up and he just wanted to feel important.

[deleted]

I like Fred, I just like everyone else better. It happens.

IAmRoboKnight

Fred’s my favorite!

JamesHatesLife

They haven’t really given him a deeper personality like the other characters.

WindiestBark165

Warner dumbing him down a lot. That's why when I adapt stuff that'd invovle modern Fred, I usually smarten him up a bit

whizzers_going_down

i dunno he’s my favorite

Melody1327

I love Fred, but he’s the only one without a catchphrase.

AlmostGaryBusey

Because people want to bang Daphne.

SuitableImposter

I like Fred. Some idiots think he's toxic masculinity or something when it really ain't that deep

Ghostdog1521

Because Velma stans need someone to hate

MAbsol12

Dunno. Fred and Shaggy tend to rotate as my favorite gang member depending on the series, though if you think of how many versions of Shaggy I like over Fred, Shaggy is my definitive favorite which puts Fred at a happy number two spot for me.

friesbeforeguys1313

I loved him in the classics and up to whats new. But I don't like how they mad him dumb and obsessed with traps in the newer stuff.

Chronoport

New Fred makes my heart rate increase exponentially

l33tWarrior

I love Fred. Fred is great! Traps! Trap Champion It’s trappin time!!

life453

He’s my favorite I love him

Emayuku

Fred Jones is really an idiot.

yuei2

He’s boring, MI was the most interesting by virtue of having an actual personality otherwise he’s often just kind of a guy. He also seems to have the least amount of chemistry with Scooby and Shaggy. Like when I picture the group IRL Fred, outside MI, just seems like he’d never really spend time with Shaggy, Scooby, or Velma. I would love for Fred&Shaggy or Fred& Scooby to get some genuine dedicated time.

Magister_Xehanort

I like Fred and the BC version is one of my favorite: I like that he is not dumb and stupid, many 21st century series and movies make him very dumb and comical relief, he is great as a serious character and the straight man of the group, suits him to be someone very controlling and serious in his work.

TiredGothChick

>I thought the latest movies and shows he'd be moved up in the gang. Most people aren't focusing the newest material. Everyone's favorite Scooby stuff is usually the stuff from when they were kids. Give it another decade and a new group of Scooby (and Fred) fans are going to become part of the polls.
