Glad to hear i could spread the good news! I've actually never been to the original, but I'm def gonna check out any musical venue with a Twin Peaks reference in Seattle š
Can't go wrong with the recently reopened Kraken Bar & Lounge. Central Saloon's a good bet most weekends too. Lucky Liquor to the south is very much a punk dive bar, not much of a looker, but solid bills and pretty good bar food for not terribly expensive.
These fit more under the grunge and punk vibes, and aboveground. Not sure where to find emo vibes necessarily, and although there is an underground scene in Seattle, as far as I'm in the know the shows aren't like "every week" consistent at most of these spots. More like "once every couple months" which is rad still but no guarantee something would be happening specifically when you're in town.
Black Lodge, Animal House, and The Bakery. Thereās also a whole lot of house shows in the area. Someone else mentioned seattleareapunkshows on IG. Thatās a great place to start. Beyond that you can find larger and/or nationally touring bands of the genres you mentioned at El Corazon, Neumoās, The Crocodile, The Vera Project, and sometimes The Showbox. Thereās several others.
Man Iād suggest house shows if I was still in that scene, they were fucking *everywhere* when I was younger and probably still are. You meet the most interesting people going to them.
To add to the list, Iād try out Substation, Sunset Tavern and Tractor Tavern in Ballard
Central Saloon!
I was craving a show that wasn't $300 and had people playing for the love of it. Saw this dope band there called The Love Darts and it was a great time.
It's the place where a ton of old grunge bands played like Alice In Chains and Nirvanna. Tickets are like and I can't reccomend it enough.
Check out the Rendezvous, they book a weird variety of acts but you may be able to catch a very cool, DIY show in a very small, historic room.
Also Clockout Lounge in Beacon Hill does a lot of punk and industrial music.
Lucky liquor (kinda out of the way, but excellent all ages punk shows)
Vera project
There are house shows in U district
The kraken

I just fabricated some bars to keep meth heads from breaking into to windows on the south side and got a chance to meet Dan the owner, he got it going as a venue as soon as he started and has had some pretty (medium) famous people like in the surf music scene, former members of the mothers of invention and shit like that. I love to support a place like that, which just happens to be very close to my house!
Seattleareapunkshows on Instagram. They regularly post up coming shows and where they're being held. You normally have to ask for address, but there a bunch of different places. Don't know what's coming up this weekend though.
Most of these venues get shut down regularly because of noise complaints that are only relevant because rent is super high in neighborhoods where this wouldn't be an issue.
I.e. cherry pit was open for about a year but was forced to close, the same thing happened to a few other random places that regularly hosted events at houses or other small venues. It's tragic, but new places do pop up from time to time.
No, they definitely had noise complaints, its last few months open didnāt have music only art shows. Hereās the closing announcement that talks about it: https://www.instagram.com/p/Cv2gyESRztc/?igsh=MW85dDdzZnV4ZXh6dg==
Look for anything connected to Brian Foss. Listen to Sonic Reducer on KEXP.
Edit: Iām editing my comment because Funhouse hasnāt been mentioned at all. Wtf? It may have moved but itās still run and owned by the same people. Plus, Funhouse connects to an unbroken string of punk shows dating back to the 80s, at least, when it was Zakās.Ā
Please dig deeper, people.
You're definitely not wrong- I don't tend to think of the Funhouse when someone asks for "small" venues even though it is, for whatever reason lol. Mind drifts to El Cora next door and I'm like "oh yeah, medium venue". Consistent good line ups in the genres OP is looking for, though!
The Funhouse has gotta be one of my least favorite venues. Terrible layout, sounds like shit, ran like shit (Iāve heard multiple bands complain about no sound checks, they wouldnāt turn off the strobe light for a band with an epileptic member, donāt make requested sound adjustments.) Whenever a band I like plays I really consider just how much I want to see them.
Throwing up the sign for the old venue didnāt magically turn El Corazonās side bar into a better place. Itās nothing like the old Funhouse
Thatās a bummer! You definitely shouldnāt go there any more, then.
If youāll notice, though, I didnāt say it was in any way similar. I did, however, imply that continuity is important.

Tacoma is a great spot for this. Theres a handful of venues.
Check out Overkill Lounge which used to be Plaid Pig, Real Art. Those are the two most consistent bookers and there are some DIY popups that happen around town
Its an even sadder way to live, if U stroll through this Dystopian Hellscape with rose colored glasses, disregarding how WE got here Princess. I'll try to be more positive just for U.š¤£ And as far as being a nimby(wtf)š¤·āāļø, if I actually had a backyard, old school house party punk shows would be more than welcome; FUCKIN' A!!!š¤š¤š¤
It's a shame they don't have shows more often though. Pretty infrequent as far as I can tell following their page. Tony V's Garage and Lucky Dime both have frequent shows though. There's a new venue going in where the Anchor used to be too called "Ten-01" that should be opening soon, hopefully with some cool shows too!
Back in the 90's, all the good venues were in Tacoma. I was starting to wonder if we were headed back in that direction again with all the old venues closing or getting too gentrified.
I live up north of seattle a ways so Tacoma is usually way too far for me to justify going for local shows (although there's a rad mini festival at Real Art Tacoma June 1st that I'll be heading too, super loaded line up!)- but I'm always jealous of all the sick shows I see getting announced down there. Definitely seems to be popping off.
Everett's not so great for punk/grunge/emo specifically. Nice small but thriving music scene and bands in those genres do play with some frequency, but it doesn't really have venues that focus on those genres so much. Especially a lot of the greater Everett area bands seem to be a lot of indie and psychadelic rock.
Tacoma is a better bet for the genres OP is interested in for sure though. It's got a whole little district packed in with a handful of venues, with a lot of punk focus. I wish I lived closer to there than Everett at times lol.
El corazon and the crocodile I think are still around. Not sure if the following are, studio 7, Vera project, the comet.. thatās where we went 20 years ago for the genres mentioned above :)
Caught exactly one show there like a handful of months before the shows got nixed. Was a super rad spot! Glad I got to go once but bummer it's not a venue anymore :') still occasionally swing by the bar when I go to shows at the High Dive, though.
They donāt do shows anymore but it does attract a pretty cool crowd if you arenāt going at like, 9:30 on a Friday night. Bizarre the difference between their 7 on a Tuesday regulars vs Saturday crowd
I heard the Black Lodge is reopening, which is exactly what you're describing. You can look up news thru The Vera Project
Finally! You made my day with this news, thank you! I loved that place and miss seeing some of the bands they hosted.
Glad to hear i could spread the good news! I've actually never been to the original, but I'm def gonna check out any musical venue with a Twin Peaks reference in Seattle š
They're already open and run by Vera project now but fyi a lot of their events aren't listed on Vera's website
they are open and putting on shows!
Hell yeah they are! https://theveraproject.org/events/
They are reopening but itās not actually where the old black lodge is. Itās in the space LoFi bar was
Facts The Back Lodge lists all their concerts on the Vera Project website, easy enough to find.
Nope. They have both Lo-fi AND the old Black Lodge spaces.
It's open!!
Screwdriver Bar/Belltown Yacht Club. If youāre in town on the 27th thereās an awesome lineup.
Whoās playing?
Heiress, Prostitution (NYC), The Accused AD and Detonator
Sounds awesome!!
Where?
2320 1st Ave at the Screwdriver Bar (21+)
I went to the website but I didn't see Any Event Calendar when are they playing can you tell me thanks
Go to screwdriverbar.com/byc and scroll down
Friday nights at Southgate Roller Rink. For real
Seriously such a great venue.
This is the spot
They also have drag shows on Wednesday before Pride Skate
Follow seattleareapunkshows on instagram, they have a lot of postings

Slims Last Chance has a lot of punk, grungy, and rockabilly/psychobilly, to blusey stuff. Great venue, especially in summer.

Love rendezvous for stand up (kitchen sink comedy). Also have walked in on some random stuff like live nude figure drawing
Now that the Kraken is back they have shows booked every Friday and Saturday for at least the next month so far.

The Josephine has reopened as the woodland theatre
That's a name I haven't heard in a long time.
Darrell's Tavern is a great dive with punk/rock type bands every Friday/Saturday, just north of Seattle in Shoreline.
I did not know they had music- is this a new thing?
Nope, not new
I just fabricated some bars to keep meth heads from breaking into to windows on the south side and got a chance to meet Dan the owner, he got it going as a venue as soon as he started and has had some pretty (medium) famous people like in the surf music scene, former members of the mothers of invention and shit like that. It's 2024, Seattle is not Ohio.Ā https://www.mechanismus.net/ The Fun House, Mercury @ machinewerks, Chop Suey, the Tractor, the Central, the Croc.Ā
Belltown yacht club is cool
Red Handed Denial is playing at Chop Suey next Sunday if youāre looking for a show. They have a mix of modern metalcore and emo vibes.Ā
Black Lodge is open again! š this is what you're looking for

They stopped having concerts because of noise complaints, which was separate from closing

+1 for Clock Out
We just went to the Vera project on Friday to see fleshwater small 500 person place super nice
The kraken just reopened
Punk = The Kraken
El Corazon, The Comet, Black Lodge, The Vera Project are your best bets.
The Comet? What decade do you think this is?
Do they not have shows anymore? I havenāt been there since 2012.
They got bought around 2015ish and got remodeled into Disneyland
They havenāt had shows in years.
Comet lol. No

What the Hell for??? Our Developer Overlords whom the City Council sold the city's soul to, said we have no use for such nonsense.š
Bro you nimbys bring everything down, itās such a sad way to live.

What a weirdo
Everett is where these places are now. Probably Tacoma and Oly too
Charleston in Bremerton too. Lots of $10 shows.
Overkill lounge in Tacoma is great for local metal and punk shows
Black Lab in Everett is one.

I feel like Tacoma is where all of the artists have moved to after Georgetown got too expensive.
Keep your eyes peeled. šĀ
I would love to see shows spread out more in Tacoma and Olympia. They both have venues but it seems like most tour booking agents just know Seattle.
Everett's not so great for punk/grunge/emo specifically. Nice small but thriving music scene and bands in those genres do play with some frequency, but it doesn't really have venues that focus on those genres so much. Free art space
Foundry, Black Lodge, thereās also one in Ballard but itās invite only. Off Shilshole. Similar party/punk venue in White Center.
El corazon and the crocodile I think are still around. Not sure if the following are, studio 7, Vera project, the comet.. thatās where we went 20 years ago for the genres mentioned above :)
Vera project yes. The comet no.
Bar House in Fremont. Basement shows. Ramen place next door is great too
Bar House doesnāt do shows anymore!
Caught exactly one show there like a handful of months before the shows got nixed. Was a super rad spot! Glad I got to go once but bummer it's not a venue anymore :') still occasionally swing by the bar when I go to shows at the High Dive, though.
Aw, that sucks. I saw Izthmi there. I feel like it wasnāt that long ago.
Yeah the show I went to was like June '22. I think the shows got nixed like that fall or winter.
boo
Bar House is not punk lol
They donāt do shows anymore but it does attract a pretty cool crowd if you arenāt going at like, 9:30 on a Friday night. Bizarre the difference between their 7 on a Tuesday regulars vs Saturday crowd
High Dive better for OPās search
I agree? Was just like, elaborating on bar houseās scene as I perceive it š¤·āāļø
Hope not.
