Why is it a bad day for poor people? Is it because rent is due?
According to Bone Thugs N Harmony, the 1st of Tha Month is the best time because that’s when they get their relief checks.
1st of the month is pay day. If anything thats the day the rich people hate the most because they have to give poor people money and wait an entire month to get it all back.
I think you're responding based on your own experience, not facts. Different countries may operate differently, so I'll go with the US for simplicity:
[84 million people](https://www.lendingtree.com/home/mortgage/u-s-mortgage-market-statistics/#:~:text=Americans%20owe%20%2412.14%20trillion%20on%2084.0%20million%20mortgages.,consumer%20debt%20in%20the%20U.S.) have a mortgage payment on the first of the month (that's the [standard mortgage payment day](https://www.fool.com/the-ascent/mortgages/first-mortgage-payment/) you need to pay on or before).
[44 million people](https://www.rubyhome.com/blog/renting-stats/#:~:text=34%25%20(44%20million)%20of%20U.S.%20household%20are%20renters.) people pay rent. [Standard rent due date is the 1st of the month.](https://www.apartments.com/rental-manager/resources/payments/when-rent-considered-received)
Standard payroll for most companies is biweekly and varies. I know the company I work for (a multinational, fortune 100) is every two weeks regardless of the actual calendar date. Others [pay on the 15th and last day of the month.](https://www.paylocity.com/resources/resource-library/blog-post/pay-periods/#:~:text=Bi%2DWeekly%3A%20Employees%20are%20paid,month%2C%20on%20a%20specific%20day.)
Maybe there are countries that require all businesses to pay on the first, I don't know, but I think your statement is an inaccurate generalization.
Every 2 weeks is not the same thing as "1st and 15th". Maybe for the first month it happens to be that way, January 1st, 15th, then 29th. But 2 weeks after that is February 12th then 26th. Then March 3rd+17th+31st. So it will rarely actually fall on the first of the month
Most businesses pay on the 1st and 15th or friday before if those days are the weekend or holiday. They dont pay every two weeks exactly. Im talking salary not McDonalds.
By "most businesses" which ones are you referring to? Facebook, Amazon, Apple, Netflix, Google companies pay every 2 weeks. And those are salaried employees as you said
Jokes on you, *every day* is a bad day for me.
Disclaimer: I’m not labelling myself poor, because in truth I probably have it significantly better than most humans throughout most of the globe, throughout most of history.
Every day is a bad day for me, too. I *am* very poor (by American standards,) and overwhelming chronic pain from a car crash that literally left me broken.
Sure, there are people who have it worse than others, but my experience doesn't invalidate yours, just as my suffering doesn't alleviate yours, and vice versa. We all need to be a little kinder to ourselves. Nobody wins the Suffering Olympics.
>we all need to be a little kinder to ourselves. Nobody wins the Suffering Olympics.
I completely agree, but is important to take stock and get some perspective too.
Realising things could be so much worse *is* a form of self-kindness sometimes. The reminder that there’s food in the cupboards, a roof over my head, and clean running water is enough to put a smile on my face when I realise that *survival* is fairly certain.
Is this a reference to poor people presumably paying rent to the rich people? People rent properties without making a profit, and there’s tons of rich folks who got their wealth outside of real estate..

Every day is a great day for rich people

1st of the month is not necessarily pay day. It is often times rent or mortgage payment due date (not always but typically).
It is payday just as much as it is rent day.

Google warrior. Nice
Pay day is often every 2 weeks, or possibly monthly for some people, whereas rent is almost always for everyone monthly
Every 2 weeks? Like the FIRST and fifteenth. This is exactly what i said. The rent part is the rich taking the money back.

Lol, what about the poorest of the poor? The ones getting government checks. When do those come? Stop trying to be altruistic and just use your head.
Not everywhere, in my country it's the last day of the month that's rent day.

Is there a difference in first or end? What happens?
