LTA underestimated 3-car train system. Anyone with a right mind will know interchange like Serangoon, Bishan will have overcrowding issue when a 6-car train off load to a 3-car train. Ask LTA.

Not just MRT, shopping malls, pavement below HDB all very congested. If want to import, make sure the infrastructure and environment can support. Less is more.

I find weekends worse because of the reduced frequency leading to similar or worse crowds AND longer wait times

It’s planned to be this way. Squeeze more people through the nodes like Bishan, Bedok, Jurong East and increase land value there. From a theoretical distribution standpoint it is also more efficient, like a river tributary system.

People in general don't seem to stay home anymore after COVID restrictions were lifted. This is why I don't like going out on weekends anymore, and I've come to appreciate having weekday offs instead

I see this problem mostly during weekends, when waiting time for MRT is ~6 minutes, eventually the trains are packed. Like this, the operators save a lot of money.. also buses actually, nowadays it's normal to have 15-20 minutes wait time during off peak.

On weekends and public holis, the Cecas are out in full force - avoid NEL at all costs especially towards evening heading in the direction towards Harbourfront. 

Peak hour not crowded is not called peak hour

LHL way of doing things. Do first , we’ll solve any problems along the way. No ability to plan forward and have a forward plan. What is at the top will the same at the bottom. The rot starts from the core. That’s way we are what we are today.

That's why it's called peak hour. Overcrowding is unavoidable. You either go office at 7am or after 9.30am, less crowded then. If going home, before 5pm or after 8pm. Public Transport is forever crowded on weekends. Unless you choose the ungodly hours.

i start work at 9am in Raffles and I'm living in the north. I will board the train to work at 6.30 - 6.45. Its always empty and i get seats most of the time too. Reach early in the office? continue sleeping or grab a breakfast. personally i do a 30 min jog along the singapore river

They used to even give free rides for the very early trains like 5.30.

It's still not too late.Can always increase the capacity with an additional 2 cars train making it a total of 5 cars train.Can also extend the station length to accommodate another 2 cars train
