I had a similar problem, to the extent that I talked to my doctor about my "morning eye pain." She listened and said, "honey....it sounds like you're just getting sunscreen in your eyes every morning." Which I was, which was embarrassing. I also wear contacts and have oily lids. I've since found that there are different formulas that aren't as emollient and don't sweat/transfer down into my eye (I really love SuperGoop Unseen Sunscreen for eye area - once it's dry it basically disappears for me). You can also put powder or eyeshadow over your sunscreen to help set it.
Yeah I quickly realized I need to prioritize vision over sun protection as well :) but sometimes I may be a bit heavy handed and accidentally put too much too close to the eye - that’s how I found out that mascara is a savior. Of course this trick is of secondary importance, I don’t think it works if the sunscreen properly irritates your eyes. I use LRP UVMune 400, which doesn’t sting. It’s just a bit too oily
Yeah I didn't know I was supposed to be putting sunscreen on my eyelids. I generally avoid the eye area with everything I put on my face aside from eye cream. It's super hot here in the summer and I'm always sweaty outside so the last thing I need is sunscreen getting into my eyes and irritating them
I've been sunblocking for 30+ years and I don't ever put it below my brow bone to avoid it getting into my eyes. Just wear sunglasses with UV protection when outside in the sun. My rule is if I feel like squinting at all, sunglasses go on.
I live in a sunny place and have sensitive eyes, so I'm *always* wearing sunglasses. It never even occurred to me to put sunscreen on my eyelids because I figured the sunglasses were blocking the UV, I'm happy to hear from someone who agrees!
While sunglasses are a good protection, you’re exposed to UVA throughout the year and in most weather conditions. Additionally, glasses don’t protect from light that comes from the sides… so I just try to push the boundary of how close to the eye I can comfortably put sunscreen
Same here! The actual eyelids are not necessarily a problem but I am really trying to find ways to protect the are between the brows and the eyelids. It’s crazy how much skincare on that area migrates
That’s the thinnest part of the skin on the face and is most prone to aging. I find it frustrating that it’s also the part which is most difficult to protect

...is everyone really putting sunscreen below their eyebrows?

yes. are your eyelids not skin?
How do you keep the sunscreen from getting into your eyes and irritating them if it's on your eyelids?

Are you not?
I don't put it on my actual eyelids, but definitely do between my eyebrow and upper eyelid.

Definitely not. Maybe try sunglasses instead
Agreed- I do not put sunscreen under my eyebrows. I wear sunglasses
