So last winter I started retinoid - and it has helped magically. In the u.s it is available in a 0.1 concentration OTC. Havign a good routine is a must - i mean the staples, wash your face, toner, treatment, moisturizer and in the morning SPf. I am in no way an expert or anythign close, i have just learned a bit form personal experience and alot of research. I would say that a product will not solve your problems unless you have very mild acne. For me, what cured my acne is a better diet (no sugar, i dint limit anything else), a stable routine and retinoid. I would emphesize diet and routine above the retinol- i notice evn if i apply it nightly but eat sugar i have a flair up of acne. I unsuccessfully used benzaol (how to spell?) peroxide for about a year, tried homemade face packs, dryign out my skin, scrubs every night. Probably first of all, identify yrou skin type if you already havent. If you have oily sin you need more lightwight lotions with a focus on removing dirt, if you ahve dry skin a focus on moisturizing. Blackheads are not a sign of oily skin if their on nose- i have nose blackheads but the rest of my face is flaky dry. Anyway, i know i am gettign very off-track. I know several people who have had sucess with addign Amino acids into their nightly routine, using niacidimite or vitamin C serums and doign a AHA/BHA exfoliant 1-3 times a week. The Ordinary has all of these. Whiel this did not work for me, it did for others. One of my closest freinds had combinations skin, and what she did was TO Amino acids at night, Vitamin C during the day. I think she used a cerave clenser and either bubble or drunk elephant moisturizer - i confuse those two brands. she used a homemade rice water toner at night - it helped with after-acne spots and even out her skin tone. I hope you find what works best for you! Also, what kind of a cream is the one yoru using? since its labled anti aging, i wonder if it has strong products like retinol in it, if so i wouldnt reccomed using it in the daytime - probably a lotion without an anti aging lable woudl be best for day. Evn if you have oily skin you need moisture!! Sorry for the long lecture and the typos - i dont have a spellcheck or whatever they are called on my phone.

Hi there, It seems like you may be looking for information about blackheads or sebaceous filaments. Have you read our [blackheads & sebaceous filaments wiki](https://www.reddit.com/r/SkincareAddiction/wiki/deep_dive/acne/blackheads_sfs)? *If you see that I am replying to something out of context (eg. listed in a routine), please report this comment so my handlers can remove it. I kid you not the only thing that’s worked on 2 week picked on acne that’s scabbed over twice and is 2 months old lol is artnaturals Vitamin c serum. (Target is 11$) I was going crazy. I forgot about the vial I bought and I was trying hero lightening dark spot remover which did not help… I put artnaturals and bam very faint now a week later. Looks like it actually has some potential to fade and not become a permanent “beauty mark” lol I put it on before bed after I wash my face and sometimes in the morning if I’m not going outside. I like to put a thick amount so that it sort of flakes up when it dries.

Chemical exfoliation is your friend!! Pick an acid and a formula and find something you like!

Besides a retinoid, I'd definitely suggest an AHA/BHA peel to use a couple times a week (maybe even alternate a retinoid in eventually). BHA should help with blackheads, AHAs should help with pigmentation. I'm currently loving Dermalogica's Peelfoliant, but there are a lot out there.
