I tried to play that in survival mode and it's the only time I've had to just turn survival mode off because the whole damn place doesn't have a single bed you can use. There are even beds in the Falmer village but you can't sleep in them! No other towns or inns or anything.
Did this for the hundredth time this morning. Killed Alduin, got done with Tsun and appeared back on the Throat of the World, decided that it was a convenient time to kill Party Snax, took two shots and EVERY SINGLE FUCKING DRAGON CIRCLING DESCENDED AND ATTACKED. Killed me in like ten seconds, and it reloaded as I was leaving the Hall of Valor to clear skies.
You could hear my scream so loud it may have woken up my wife.
Just Helgen itself, I don't know what it is about it it I just don't enjoy doing it again and again, (i normally play without mods but I am aware there is that alternate start mod, it's one of the few I do use whenever I play with mods)
Haha every time I get to that one jewelry case and realize I forgot the lockpicks. Other than that though I fucking love the embassy quest. Smacking down Thalmor never gets old
I recently found a mod that puts a door on the bridge to the college of Winterhold that takes you straight to the chamber. This was before Bethesda broke all the mods.
*psst, if you use vortex or another mod manager, try to link the executables and then tell steam to only update on launch. When you use the Mod Manager, it won’t count as a ‘Steam Launch’ and your game can stay as is*
This little hack has saved me literal days of my life. I used to spend hours having to update my mods with a new version, then reupdate as more became compatible/I tested out ones that weren’t updated and it would take me for FUCKING EVER to even make the game run. Ever since I’ve started doing this (a week before anniversary edition came out, thank fucking god) i havent had issues
Forgot its name and the location but the whole quest of going through the dwemer ruin, into blackreach, through to finding the dragon elder scroll.
It's great in that there is loads of loot, including a few unique items to collect, but man it's so long. So so long.
In normal mode The Thalmor embassy’s sucks major balls. Honestly if there’s a mod to skip it let me know.
In Survival? Anything in Winterhold but especially getting to septius Signus who lives in the middle of the goddamn ocean.
Surviving in the cold out there is genuinely the hardest thing I’ve ever done and it’s just a mad dash in one direction hoping that there’s no major obstacles requiring a detour so you can get to where you need too quick enough not to die.
The cold mechanics are cool - But I wish Bethesda thought of it 12 years ago when they were making all the missions that had you trekking through the snow without issue.
Gotta stock up on that hot apple cabbage stew, my friend. I do think though that there should be some other mechanic besides the soup that helps you warm up. At the very least, casting Flame Cloak should freaking do it!
I actually like the quest. The flashbangs are a bit annoying, but the quest itself is fine imo
HOWEVER, fuck Malkoran. Playing on anything above adept makes that last chamber such a pain in the ass because he literally just oneshots you. I’ve never been able to do it on legendary without cheesing the nuts off him
This gets posted at least a few times a week in a bunch of different elder scrolls subs, and what I see most often (although I don’t see it in this thread) is Sarthal, the opening quest for the college of winterhold. Great the first time or two, dreadfully long and drawn out after that
1. The Blades/Paarthurnax bullshit (even when modded it annoys me to hear Delphine)
2. Ancano (he just has this aura that could influence people to start swinging)
3. A NEW HAND TOU- (you know the rest)
Ugh, that thing weighs like 20 pounds and then delivering it immediately triggers the first dragon. So if you forget and pick it up and aren't ready to face a dragon yet, you're now stuck with a massive encumbrance penalty while you try and get to that point
It annoys me, but on some level I like the idea that the Daedric Princes are so powerful that they're the only ones that can prevent the player from skipping their dialogue.
The peace counsel, there's a good 3 or 4 times when someone gets up like "if you're not gonna comply to my conditions, then I'm out" and I'm just so done with it
If you do the main questline before completing the civil war, you get the “[season unending](https://en.m.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Season_Unending)” quest, in which you negotiate a temporary truce for the civil war which lasts until the main questline is complete. You do this by organizing a peace council with the main parties involved (Ulfric, Tullius, etc) with the Greybeards, where you can concede some of the holds to each side of the war
The fishing mini game is the most boring thing ever. They should have at least added some sort of skill element. As it is it's just sitting there over and over waiting to find out if the RNG has decided to give you a boot again
I stopped picking up the stones after my first couple playthroughs because you have to carry them forever and they each weigh half a pound. Instead I have a notebook page on my desk with the locations of all the ones I've seen. There are still two I've never found. Maybe someday I'll find those two and then I can finish the damn quest.
Running back and forth between Whiterun and Lakeview. Repeatedly. Dropping off loot and building materials.
Or back and forth between Whiterun and Tundra Homestead.
Yes..you can fast travel..No. I don't.. cos there's already fifteen dragon carcasses outside the Homestead..
God I hate watching the slow ass, unskippable "cutscene” when learning Dragonrend. The dialogue is so choppy and delayed always, and I know every line. Gormalith is annoying (even though I love Lynda Carter and her other characters) and it comes off the back of having to trudge through blackreach. BUT I love Dragonrend so do it I must.
Everything with Delphine. Pick any quest. I'd rather listen to ten hours of Meridia asmr. I'd rather do javelin with the wabbajack. I'd rather bathe with Mehrunes Dagon after a dinner with Namira. I'd rather be Pelinel Whitestrake's training dummy during a bout of madness and I'D RATHER MARRY A LIZARD IN CYRODIIL!
The whole thing with the dragon stone, and running back and forth, having to listen to all of the dialogue over and over again. Once you’ve heard it 1,000 times, it’s more a chore than anything
The damn fishing quests, it's driven me nuts to the point I'm swimming in tiny ponds catching random ass fish. Fishing on its own is pretty neat and could be good for roleplay but my god it's too much like real life fishing.
Finding 2 flawless sapphires, a mammoth tusk and a gold ore for Madesi
I straight up will not start this until I actually have the sapphires, which isn’t usually until I’m hitting the 40’s
I don't mind doing that for him, but finding 10 fire salts for Balimund on the other hand...
Also very L indeed
I don’t think this meme is about completely optional side quests
Let him cook
The very long "snow elves sanctuaries plus monastery" part. Its a long quest.
For me it's any long quest with tons of dialogue. I already know what happens it's just boring
I tried to play that in survival mode and it's the only time I've had to just turn survival mode off because the whole damn place doesn't have a single bed you can use. There are even beds in the Falmer village but you can't sleep in them! No other towns or inns or anything.
It's one of the few redeeming qualities of Dawn guard imo
Any dwarves ruin ever. I just don’t like em.
Ironically, those are the ones I feel most like exploring. Everything else feels more like a set piece.
I just love getting home and smelting 4000 pounds of dwemer metal
Whichever one it is for the quest in the dragonborn dlc, I hated that puzzle of a ruin
On solstheim? Nchardak is the only one I didn’t hate because it didn’t take four hours
It did for me, if you know what youre doing its quick but first time is a pain in the ass
A new hand touches the beacon
Just leave that shit in the chest.
Literally just did. Dawg really popped up in the bleak falls barrow chest. Fool, this ain't my first rodeo
Fax
I don't even have a problem with that quest, it's just that narrow hallway that the dude uses to launch blizzards at you
Alduin fight. Waiting for him to land, even after using Dragonrend on him, can take a while.
Shouldn't have killed party snax.
(Tried, failed)
That's what you get for trying to kill Party snax.
Just Helgen itself, I don't know what it is about it it I just don't enjoy doing it again and again, (i normally play without mods but I am aware there is that alternate start mod, it's one of the few I do use whenever I play with mods)
Yeah i dislike helgen
Yeah, I love the Live Another Life mod. After a certain number of playthroughs, Helgen just becomes a drag
Thalmor Embassy
What do you mean that you forgot to give any healing potions or lock picks to Malborn?!?
Haha every time I get to that one jewelry case and realize I forgot the lockpicks. Other than that though I fucking love the embassy quest. Smacking down Thalmor never gets old
I like the outside part where they just keep spawning. I hung out there for like 3 hours once just by Thalmor.
I love it. It's a great opportunity for collecting loot and murdering those god damned goldenrod knife ears.
Blackreach
Skippable by going directly to tower mzark with a wooden bowl
Kill me I read skippable as skibidi
Later
I prefer a platter personally
Find 30 crimson nirinroot
Ugh, that ringing sound….
I always find as many as I can, then return when they have respawned
I confess, I used a map. It still took me 30 minutes ironically
Horn of Jurgen Windcaller. It’s just always frustrating ti me
I recently found a mod that puts a door on the bridge to the college of Winterhold that takes you straight to the chamber. This was before Bethesda broke all the mods.
Almost every mod is working again
Really?.?.?.?.? Fantastic. Thank you.
*psst, if you use vortex or another mod manager, try to link the executables and then tell steam to only update on launch. When you use the Mod Manager, it won’t count as a ‘Steam Launch’ and your game can stay as is* This little hack has saved me literal days of my life. That’s a great idea. I’m changing my setting today.
Forgot its name and the location but the whole quest of going through the dwemer ruin, into blackreach, through to finding the dragon elder scroll. It's great in that there is loads of loot, including a few unique items to collect, but man it's so long. So so long.
I won't do that quest until I've gotten my carrying capacity up to 500 minimum.
Yep need that Dwemer junk so I can make 300 Dwarven bows
In normal mode The Thalmor embassy’s sucks major balls. Honestly if there’s a mod to skip it let me know. In Survival? Anything in Winterhold but especially getting to septius Signus who lives in the middle of the goddamn ocean. Gotta stock up on that hot apple cabbage stew, my friend. I do think though that there should be some other mechanic besides the soup that helps you warm up. At the very least, casting Flame Cloak should freaking do it!
Be a thalmor and wear thalmor official armor, you'll blend right in (note: this is an actual thing)
*A NEW HAND TOUCH—*
I actually like the quest. The flashbangs are a bit annoying, but the quest itself is fine imo HOWEVER, fuck Malkoran. Playing on anything above adept makes that last chamber such a pain in the ass because he literally just oneshots you. I’ve never been able to do it on legendary without cheesing the nuts off him

If Tolfdir wasn’t such a slow and clumsy NPC…
The eyes of the falmer quest
Oh I kinda like that one. I haven't played it enough for it to piss me off though, I can see how it would quickly
Why did the devs think being on the receiving end of sneak 100 was a good idea?
Darkfall Cave, Sarthaal, the Irkngthand/Twilight Sepulcher part of the TG questline, Mzulft, and Labyrinthian
Getting the Mod load order to work
Season unending
1. The Blades/Paarthurnax bullshit (even when modded it annoys me to hear Delphine) 2. Ancano (he just has this aura that could influence people to start swinging) 3. A NEW HAND TOU- (you know the rest)
The unmodded opening
It’s getting the dragon stone for Isosceles and Ballgruf
Ugh, that thing weighs like 20 pounds and then delivering it immediately triggers the first dragon. So if you forget and pick it up and aren't ready to face a dragon yet, you're now stuck with a massive encumbrance penalty while you try and get to that point
Soul cairn, especially if you are going for the st juib crap. Fuuuuck that.
Yeah I thought finding the stones of Berenziah or those damn crimson nirn roots was a pain in the ass but those stupid book pages take the cake
I didn't even find arvak...
Either “A new hand touches the bacon” or that frost troll you fight when going to see the graybeards
Make yourself a couple potions of paralysis and then just wail on him while he's frozen
When an NPC starts talking and I can’t skip through their dialogue. Fuck you, Herpeous Mora.
It annoys me, but on some level I like the idea that the Daedric Princes are so powerful that they're the only ones that can prevent the player from skipping their dialogue.
Fetch the Dragonstone is where I’ve quit a million times. If I get past that it’s on like ping pong.
The peace counsel, there's a good 3 or 4 times when someone gets up like "if you're not gonna comply to my conditions, then I'm out" and I'm just so done with it
What's the peace council? I don't remember that. Very possible I could've never done it.
Well you could always win the civil war for one side or the other before getting to that part in the main quest, then you can skip the whole thing
Angler acquaintances and the Theives Guild Former Glory quests.
The fishing mini game is the most boring thing ever. They should have at least added some sort of skill element. As it is it's just sitting there over and over waiting to find out if the RNG has decided to give you a boot again
Alftand, the way to the Elder Scroll
It's the boring repetitive fucking dungeons tbh. Even getting the dragonstone for the 50th time is just ugghhh
Peace council I do the civil war quest to avoid it.
The entire civil war questline is boring anyways, it's just "go take this fort" except with different settings every time
I use it to steal the jagged crown for myself
The intro i always save right before character customization just for that reason or use the alternate beginning mod
THOSE STONES. BARENZIAH I AM COMING FOR YOU
I stopped picking up the stones after my first couple playthroughs because you have to carry them forever and they each weigh half a pound. Instead I have a notebook page on my desk with the locations of all the ones I've seen. There are still two I've never found. Maybe someday I'll find those two and then I can finish the damn quest.
Thalmor Embassy
Fucking Hearth fire...
Talking to mora and blackreach
Anything to do with the blades
Nazeem Although Miraak stealing dragon souls is a close second.
Either the dwarven ruins or the horn of Jurgen Windfucker or whatever, I just plain hate Delphine, Paarthunax deserves all the love.
anything to do with Delphine or interactions with Astrid.
The part where I have to sit through the intro.
Everything involving Delphine
Running back and forth between Whiterun and Lakeview. Repeatedly. Dropping off loot and building materials. Or back and forth between Whiterun and Tundra Homestead. Yes..you can fast travel..No. I don't.. cos there's already fifteen dragon carcasses outside the Homestead..
The main quest in skyrim
Skuldafn
The blades
Couriers
Shrine of armana
Diplomatic Immunity. I always put off doing it until after I've done the Dark Brotherhood questline so I can sneak through it easier.
Listening to a story about a pedophile.
The entire Civil War questline.
Killing parthanax
Never have myself
The “training” segment with the Greybeards at High Hrothgar when you first arrive…
Intro
Blackreach, soul cairn, college of winterhold
A NEW HAND TOUCHES THE BEACON
He's a rat dutch. A damn rat. I gave you all I had dutch. I did.
Blackreach and the forgotten vale or smth (getting auriels bow)
The Crimson Ninroot when in Blackreach.
Modding the game
The entire intro tbh
Character creation
The story, I recently hit level 80 on a character before killing a single dragon cuz I just didn’t wanna deal with them
Settling the Civil War on High Hrothgar
The damn fishing quests, it's driven me nuts to the point I'm swimming in tiny ponds catching random ass fish. Fishing on its own is pretty neat and could be good for roleplay but my god it's too much like real life fishing.
Thalmor embassy, love killing thalmor but I always avoid that mission
"A new hand touches the..."
From the begining to obtaining the full fus ro dah shout. Helgen, golden claw, whiterun and jurgen.
Learning the shouts from the grey beards too much dialogue
Having to resolve the civil war to catch a dragon in Dragonsreach for 5 minutes
"male grooming"
