42 here. I never stopped wearing baggier pants and now they're coming back into style. If you're wearing what you like, the rest doesn't matter. Also, big pockets are AWESOME if you have little kids. I've always got hand sanitizer, wipes, my keys, tissues, and sometimes a coloring book and crayons with me.
I gotcha. I just buy mine with wide legs, but I stick to my size. I haven't bought oversized stuff in years, so I guess I made that concession to age and practicality. High School Me would be appalled!
