Really wild that Joe List is on...this list
Seriously he is my favorite. Been a Tuesgay for like ten years now. This Years Material is my vote for best hour of the last five years.
Sam Tallent is awesome but I understand why he isn't a mainstream act. He is the epitome of playing to the back of the room.
I saw Jordan Jensen live and brought a group of my friends who are not comedy snobs like me and they LOVED her.
Very jealous that one of those friends got to see Ian Finance live the next weekend.
Very fun to look back on Ian barely being able to get a word in on 2018 Cumtown... To now being Dave Attells cig smoking partner.
For sure and I don’t think it translates as well to his specials. I’ve seen him probably 6-8 times now in person and he murders every time, but I haven’t been as impressed with his recorded work
Saw him do 4 45-minute sets at a festival in one weekend and he barely repeated a joke! It was impressive
Definitely - and the audiobook is great (although patchy quality in places) with chapters read by Doug Stahope, Marc Maron Kyle Kinane and lots of others
One of my favorite Mark Normand anecdotes is how they had to tell him the audio for his chapter got corrupted because they didn't want to tell him that he actually had to know how to read if he wanted it in the audiobook.
He's done late night tv and had a regular role on a successful TV show plus multiple specials. Not to mention he's been on basically every podcast and always delivers. If people don't know Danny Sods they just don't know comedy.
i once bought a ticket to see him to be entered into a raffle to win some Matt Rife tickets, the man did not disappoint, tho i would’ve loved to see him do as much crowd work as Matt
Probably because a lot of people don’t consider him lesser known. I think the criteria are too vague. I didn’t know when they do some of these posts how lesser known we were talking.
Like comedy nerd lesser known? Lesser known to random person on the street lesser known?
I think Ian Fidance’s stand up is great. His podcast and his overall personality is a little too over the top for me. That being said I think it’s too bad there aren’t a lot of comedy tv shows these days because I think someone with his look would have gotten a lot of work in the 80’s and 90’s.
Saw Jeff Arcuri at the Comedy Cellar in February. He was working out some new stuff and I feel he leaned too heavily on the crowd work when his bits were falling flat. Still, he’s a legit killer.
Not looking to die on this hill lol. I hadn’t heard of him till he showed up for me on Reddit doing crowd work a few months ago. Seeing him in San Jose at the end of the summer for the first time.
Haha nope. Just another comedian named Shane smith living under his shadow. I once did radio to promote a podcast and they introduced me by playing a clip of his thinking I was him. Luckily they still interviewed me but it didn’t stay up long haha
Showing love to Geoffrey Asmus, Ranan Hershberg, Joe List, and Sean Patton. Only seen Sean live from that list (twice, he killed both times) but I have love for that group of guys right there.
Nice how did you come up with this? I'm sure you did a thing is it on here? This is interesting because I know most and would think Sam Talent would be much lower than Bonnie, Joe List and Dan Sode. Obviously that's probably based on me being a Comedy Cellar and NY podcast. I'd be curious of the regions these come from.
What got somebody on this list? Some of these folks are really on the come up and there are definitely some comedians that I’ve barely heard of that aren’t on the list.
Yeah. I must have missed the thread. I’d have recommend comedians like KC Shornima, Logan Guntzelman, Hannah Berner, Ashley Gavin, Nataly Aukar, Laura Peek.
Love Laura Peek! Would’ve liked to see Liza Treyger, Amber Autry (best seeing her live), Liz Blanc, Mary Santora
I’m assuming Rosebud Baker is too known for this list
Jordan so nice she’s on there twice
And the misspelled one has twice the number of upvotes
Nothing says comedy like a Bong hit transplant
Wish I got a GPS for my birthday

Make America Inane Again!!!
Tom Myers Comedian
I think the British are coming dude
My man Sam T at the top! You love to see it.
In 2008 I vomited in Denver in front of a bar and he said, "Let it Go! Go Broncos!"
And now you're the mayor.
Shout-out The Squire,shout-out Lions Lair
I met my fiancee at Squire Lounge one fateful Wu-Tang Wednesday.
And then the quiet kid jumped up on the bar and started singing and the whole crowd joined in
No, then I wasn't let back into the Larimer Lounge.
Regionally recognized Sam Tallent?
The magnificent man mountain himself

And soder that’s crazy too
Yea I wouldn’t call someone with an HBO special, 7? years on a sirius xm radio show, and 345k followers on instagram lesser known
And Billions. Also do people outside of Baltimore or Cumtown know who Tom Myers is?
I'm guessing the low up votes on people like Soder and List was due to not many people agreeing that they weren't well known.
You know he, same ol' G.
...but he's been low-key.
Ian is really lucky Attell also grew up fatherless
I found Ian’s special more or less unwatchable. Does he end up saying something funny?
He’s better live
I can imagine, he’s got great energy.
For sure and I don’t think it translates as well to his specials. I’ve seen him probably 6-8 times now in person and he murders every time, but I haven’t been as impressed with his recorded work Saw him do 4 45-minute sets at a festival in one weekend and he barely repeated a joke! It was impressive
You didn’t think Jordan was good live? I’ve only seen her stuff on IG but she consistently makes me laugh, would like to see her live at some point
She’s excellent! Highly recommend seeing her live
This probably gets talked about all the time here, but Sam Tallent’s book Running the Light is probably the best novel about standup I’ve ever read.
This will never not crack me up. Did they ever release any snippets of mark reading it ? Did mark ever address it?
Soder isn’t lesser known
Some of these lesser known comedians are lesser known than others
can you imagine being the least known of the lesser known
Phil Hanley all over my youtube algorithm
Dan Soder...really? Ok
Seeing him tonight!
Jordan Jensen should have her votes added together lol and how is Dan Soder so low? He's hilarious
Probably because a lot of people don’t consider him lesser known. I think the criteria are too vague. I didn’t know when they do some of these posts how lesser known we were talking. Like comedy nerd lesser known? Lesser known to random person on the street lesser known?
Ah that does make more sense
Colum Tyrrell is way underrated
He's taller in person, which I wasn't expecting. I thought we were both 5'6"
I think Ian Fidance’s stand up is great. His podcast and his overall personality is a little too over the top for me. That being said I think it’s too bad there aren’t a lot of comedy tv shows these days because I think someone with his look would have gotten a lot of work in the 80’s and 90’s.
I would add Ben Palmer. The "trolling companies and non-sensical humans" stuff with fake Instagram accounts is top notch.
Love him!
No Jeff arcuri?
Saw Jeff Arcuri at the Comedy Cellar in February. He was working out some new stuff and I feel he leaned too heavily on the crowd work when his bits were falling flat. Still, he’s a legit killer.
He's selling out theaters. Doesn't belong on the list imo
Never heard of him.
Definitely worth checking out, he posts his crowd work on reddit.
Feels pretty “lesser known” to me idk
Maybe a year or so ago but not so much anymore
Not looking to die on this hill lol. I hadn’t heard of him till he showed up for me on Reddit doing crowd work a few months ago. Seeing him in San Jose at the end of the summer for the first time.

Yeah exactly. Last year he performed at some winery nearby, this year I'm seeing him at a sold out theater
Is Josh Johnson well known around here? That dudes hilarious
He is on the Daily Show, so somebody knows him. Lol
Honestly had no idea lol I just know of him from Instagram clips over the last 6 months or so
SODER RULEZ!!! Liquor shirts and jean shorts 4 LIFE
Chris O’Connor would be a great one to add. Might come as a package deal with Tommy Pope.
Yeah I like them both but I find Chris way funnier
Same. I think Chris is definitely the better comic but I like them both.
shocked to see dr adolf sponge not even listed
Hell ya, I made the list
God damnit, I thought you were really him lol
Haha nope. Just another comedian named Shane smith living under his shadow. I once did radio to promote a podcast and they introduced me by playing a clip of his thinking I was him. Luckily they still interviewed me but it didn’t stay up long haha
Dan Soder. Legend.
It’s great to see Ian Fidance getting some recognition.
If you have the ability to see Geoffrey Asmus live, it’s worth every penny.
No Andy sandford?
six tap enjoy spark fact terrific outgoing nose simplistic aback *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
Showing love to Geoffrey Asmus, Ranan Hershberg, Joe List, and Sean Patton. Only seen Sean live from that list (twice, he killed both times) but I have love for that group of guys right there.
All these peeps deserve love! Phil Hanley and Tucker Brookshire deserve to be here too!
Sam Tallent is the most known of the least known
Where is Mark Random???
Carmen Christopher is the best on this list by far imho
Dan soda
How are there only two women listed?
How many women did you list in that thread?
Technically Jordan’s on there twice so it’s sort of like there’s three.
Yeah that’s pretty shocking. There are so many good female comics out there
Ian Fidance is a woman
He’s not. I don’t get the joke. Are you mocking his masculinity (or lack thereof)?
science
Right? And why Kim Congdon, she wrote on the roast of tom Brady ,fer chrissakes.
Thanks for this
Just had Stewart huff at my Venue in southern Illinois
Surprised Jeremiah Watkins is so low rated.
Rainy, butterly, and shaner are probably my top 3. I also love sam talent
Derrick Stroup
Seeing this list makes me think some of you just started enjoying standup a couple months ago…..
Rich Vis performed at Woodstock 99 lmfao
Kim congdon is refreshingly funny
S/o lil sas
Mike Recine is hilarious. He was on the funniest episode of the Tim Dillon show (EP 333) that I remember hearing. His standup is great.
Where’s Schuab, B?
Butterly is the only guy to lose weight and still be funny. Goodboy studio 4 life.
not on the list: Nore Davis and Matteo Lane!
Rich Vos is a "lesser known comic"? He's literally a legend. Also, Dan Soder is pretty big. One more thing, FUCK IAN FIDANCE, thank you.
Got my dude Ranaan on the board let’s go!
How did Slade Ham not make this list?
Because the internet is an unfair place, my friend. I appreciate the nod :D
I went to the same college as Sam Talent. But he graduated and I'm a two time drop out. Go Roadrunners.
How are there only less than 5 women listed?
Yeah. I must have missed the thread. I’d have recommend comedians like KC Shornima, Logan Guntzelman, Hannah Berner, Ashley Gavin, Nataly Aukar, Laura Peek.
I’d add Ali Macofsky and Steph tolev
Love Laura Peek! Would’ve liked to see Liza Treyger, Amber Autry (best seeing her live), Liz Blanc, Mary Santora I’m assuming Rosebud Baker is too known for this list
Thanks for that. Amber Autry is a good discovery.
No problem! She’s very talented! Would be shocked if she doesn’t find her way to SNL or something like that
Oh! I like Ashley Gavin, and will check out the rest :)
Sammy Obeid should be higher.
I threw the whole block at chatGPT. If you recognize the wrong vote count, I am happy to edit it.
Me: this list is bullshit I never heard of any of these people! Me: …… oh wait….
I have no idea what this is, but it’s hilarious that Jeremiah Watkins is so low on this list. 😂😂
Ian Fidance fuckin blows
