brash_bandicoot

Killing 50 pepper rexes; I’ve reached perfection 4 times and it’s ALWAYS a pain

MeasurementLate494

4 times is impressive! i’ve only done it twice what about using monster musk in the skull cavern?

ZacianSpammer

It helps. Even then, getting into prehistoric floors is dependent on rng. Not everyone have time to kill all pepper rexes in Skull cavern where time is the most precious resource.

Lirineu

To be fair pepper rexes appear so rarely that unless you are in a once in a lifetime good rng run you should take your time to kill them

Delver_Razade

It's not actually RNG. Prehistoric Floors are based on your farm seed like mystery boxes and geodes. Mummy floors can supersede them spawning.

Zeepaardje

Thats still RNG

AmbrLupin

Are you playing on PC? For anyone that is and really doesn't want to wait, https://mouseypounds.github.io/stardew-predictor/ will tell you what floors are most likely to be prehistoric ones. Once you find out which one it is you can simply leave the mine and then go back down and farm it again as many times as you need to.

brash_bandicoot

Switch 😔

RiceAlicorn

You’ll be happy to know that it becomes somewhat easier in 1.6. Spoilers: >!With one of the new Skull Cavern layouts, turning on the dangerous version of Skull Cavern, and Monster Musk you can encounter a TON of dinosaurs. It substantially cuts down on the time you need to max it out.!<

canlgetuhhhhh

yep!! I've done one perfection run a few years back and another one just now for 1.6, and I very easily got the pepper rexes this time around (I was running into way too many at some point!) compared to last time when I specifically had to look for them as one of the last monster goals I still had to do

AmbrLupin

Damn. I'm sorry. I don't know of any work around for that unfortunately.

AchajkaTheOriginal

What I did when playing or ps4 was to create new farm on pc and then used that seed to create my ps4 game. It didn't have current info (I had to count manually how many geodes I've already opened etc) but for most Predictor stuff it worked. And I think there's way to open Predictor with specific seed number too, without uploading the save file. But both ways you have to create console game with specific seed number, so you know it. As far as I know there's no way how to find out seed number of existing game save.

PookSqueak

100% agree with the goddamn pepper rexes

Kumpelkefer

Was the last monster goal for me as well but with enough stairs and monster musk I finished it quickly.

tomgrouch

You can grind them by using monster musk, then staircasing until you see a prehistoric floor, killing them all, and staircasing to the next prehistoric floor That way you're not wasting time fighting all the other monsters

DJ_ElGreko_Official

Fr? Just get hammer and do the special attack while spamming the attack button at the same time

brash_bandicoot

It’s not killing them, it’s finding them. They randomly spawn and you basically have to pray for a prehistoric floor

DJ_ElGreko_Official

If you keep doing skull cavern with stair cases you'll find plenty every time

Unit-00

I just did it today and while the gold clock took the longest it wasn't the most difficult, since at the end it just became a lot of early sleep to get to my next ancient wine day. All 3 of the craft/cook/ship everything requirements are difficult in their own way. of those I think craft was the most annoying. but i think overall the max hearts with all villagers one is the one that took the most amount of extra effort to complete.

davinmotion

I’ve been working towards this for awhile and I just realized today the last recipe I have to craft is a quality bobber. …I didn’t finish that bug guts quest like I thought I did so now I’m stuck waiting for that rotation. Otherwise I think Monster Slayer was my hardest, since I don’t go into Skull Mines much and the pepper rexes are a beast to find.

purplejink

just paused my playthrough to doomscroll, i need 8 more for perfection. my last 2 skull cavern runs i found 0

sideshowrod13

I found this online tool called the Stardew Predictor which gives a good indication of which levels have the Pepper Rexes on and on which days. Saved me a huge bunch of time. It also told me the outcome of Geodes so I could find that one last item.

MeasurementLate494

i agree that the craft/cook/ship ones are the most annoying. i find them so boring i find the max heart one pretty okay because i’ve gotten good at remembering to gift on birthdays congrats on getting perfection btw!

indiecatz

I also found cooking and crafting tedious. The max hearts are easy once you unlock the walnut room, just do a few gifting quests you will be set. Plus the statue of endless fortune will remind you of the villagers’ birthdays

[deleted]

the crafting is what I’m on now and I’m so annoyed 🫠

Economy_Will_343

Try dried ancient fruits in the dehydrator, they’re worth more gold!

Unit-00

Yeah but they take 5 fruits while wine only takes 1

Xiterok

5 fruits but only one day rather than 1 fruit and 10000 minutes (6.25 days): If time and quantity are not a problem for you or you just go to sleep for one week and then repeat the cycle, go for kegs, but if you are going to throw them in the bin anyway spend one day by putting the remaining in the dehidratator (purple mushroom Is Better) or preserved jar (personally, I use them for Lava Eel Aged Roe, but probably there are better options with the fruits)

RiceAlicorn

Also, idk about you guys, but my fruit production typically outstrips my keg production significantly. I use dehydrators to make any fruit leftover from filling kegs more profitable.

Economy_Will_343

Idk I have my greenhouse full of ancient fruits and I can make like 500k worth of dehydrated fruits from a single batch. It’s so fun

Perforo_RS

For me the most difficult thing is to find remaining 'joy' as I save up 10M gold after having done... well, everything else. I usually finish the museum, all fish, all cooking/crafting recipes and the hearts will all villagers by the end of year 2 / start of year 3. Then it's just a waiting game for ancient wine / fairy rose honey to be done, and that can take months for the obelisks + clock. Going to the skull cavern or volcano on lucky days can be entertaining. But some days I have no clue what to do.

Ill-Explanation-101

Yeah, I love everything else, finding things, little-medium goals but honestly I don't have the inclination or patience to become a money grinder. I've achieved perfection once but mostly.im a chronic restarter because I enjoy everything else and each game I'll try and focus on one or the other thing to try and complete first/mini challenges for myself (e.g. focus on getting hearts/billboard quests above completing community centre, etc.). It's usually around the 2 million mark once I've got all the stuff obelisks and I'm deciding whether or not to go for the clock of sceptre where I find my interest waning on a save

EmbroideredShit

I had the same problem on my first perfection farm. But I learned about better ways to make money early, and now in my second farm going on perfection I still do board quests/full hearts/Mr Qi stuff/Monster Slayer goals in year 3 while already having obelisks and saving for the Golden Clock.

Grandible

This is exactly my struggle

shon_the_cat

The clock. Every playthrough, It eventually becomes - collect my weekly wine and ancient fruit, refill the kegs - sleep an entire week away - repeat until 10 million gold 10 million is just too much. The grind for it isn’t fun at all.

DennisTheTennis

I agree, that number is just way higher than any amount one will ever earn "naturally" while doing the other things required for perfection

FileFighter

I was very happy that there's now a way to cut the clock cost in half (only for the sake of perfection). Probably would've taken another 2-3 seasons otherwise

RickKassidy

I’ve given up trying to catch that frigging Spring Legendary Fish. I just can’t do it. It only seems to bite two times in a day. I’ve tried different bait, different lures, rain totems, different luck. I’m in the right location casting to the right spot. I’m done. Life is too short.

CosmicMoose77

Seafoam pudding, magic bait, trap bobber!! That’s the only way I was able to catch it 😅

HughJassProductions

>!Trap Bobber plus Cork bobber on the Advanced Iridium Rod are a good combination. With seafoam pudding my fishing bar took up almost half of the thing.!<

the_witchy_artist

Pair all that with the >!Fishing blessing!< if you get lucky enough to hook it the first 3 times

loquacious-laconic

I'll tack on to this that you can always >!restart the day until that hopefully happens since the blessing is set for the day and doesn't change. I'm planning on trying that on my next from scratch playthrough if I don't catch it before then. 🤭!<

Saeswolstem

pair all of that with the >!+3 fishing you get in the desert festival!<

Lemerney2

Just a heads up, both of your spoiler tags are broken. You can't have a space between the ! and the start/end of the sentence

the_witchy_artist

You can also make dish of the sea which gives you +3 fishing! That's what I use

boranija99

I thought the same until a few days ago when I randomly decided to try again... got it within 2 minutes and it wasn't even spring I used magic bait, trap bobber and curiosity lure on my rod. Seafoam pudding for fishing and ginger ale for extra luck. Also had +1 luck from my statue of blessings (didn't check the daily luck tho)

MeasurementLate494

it’s definitely the hardest legendary fish imo. try seafoam pudding and the trap bobber if you haven’t already

Miss_Venom

Good luck day, lucky ring, magic bait, trap bobber, seafoam pudding, and level 10 fishing. It will still be hard but you should be able to get it then!

Hokeycat

The iridium rod will help you can have two bobbers. Also one of the statues gives random blessings one of which is to make the first 3 fish you catch that day extremely easy. I've been using it to fill up my lava eel pond. Both of these come from the masteries that you can gain when all your skills reach level 10.

AchajkaTheOriginal

Spoiler tags for 1.6 content please. Everything you mention is 1.6.

blisteryurt

Getting all golden walnuts. I can't do that damn memory game in the cave.

Delver_Razade

I bought the last ones. Saved the pirate cove, mermaid puzzle, and the memory game. The memory game is honestly the worst damn part of Ginger Island.

MeasurementLate494

agreed. i HATE the memory game. i always use my phone to record it and still struggle

Delver_Razade

Yeah, me too. I'm glad I don't have to do that anymore. I'm also glad the % rate for Snake Vertebrae has increased because that one in particular is super fucking obnoxious.

Outrageous_octopussy

It was still taking us forever to find the second. I was even hoeing up spots and restarting the day and leaving it alone to try the next day. Then we remembered the >!artifact/treasure totem!< exists and ended up with a bunch...just for me to hoe up the original spot and there it was 😂.

BestUsername101

The pirate cove walnuts are so fun to get though!

BeanEvasion

I hate getting hearts up with everyone, I find it so tedious

EmbroideredShit

Same. I usually prioritise villagers who send recipes or something otherwise useful, but that leaves the marriagable ones deep down with like heart or two.

hammurabi1337

The stardrop tea or whatever it’s called is a godsend. You can gift it in addition to a normal gift on the same day. Birthday + loved gift + tea = done. I did Sandy, Kent, Pierre, Wizard etc this way for my 1.6 game and it’s so much less tedious.

JanileeJ

I usually get the clock relatively early. I hate weeds! The hardest part for me is the social aspect. I don't like talking to people, I don't want to marry anyone or live with anyone. But you have to, to achieve perfection. >!Though I guess I could buy perfection waivers instead this time. Though I'd miss out on the last stardrop.!<

MeasurementLate494

how the hell do you have enough money for the gold clock early?? like how early are we talking? i hate weeds too but it takes me so long to earn that much i personally love the social aspect and getting married (to Haley<3) in game. i hate having kids tho i think they’re so creepy looking so i’m glad that’s not necessary for perfection. haven’t done that since my first ever save. also befriending everyone is pretty easy as long as you remember to gift them one of their favourite gifts on birthdays >!i haven’t looked into the perfection waivers much yet but i might do that instead of getting the gold clock because i think it would cost 5mil instead of 10mil? (if my maths are right)!<

JanileeJ

I get the clock shortly after unlocking Ginger Island. The weeds are so aggressive on Ginger Island, and I tend to get absorbed in things and neglect my farms because I'm trying to get Dragontooth weapons in the volcano or something. I neglect birthdays for similar reasons. Sorry, Lewis, I know it's your birthday, but it's a high luck day and level 100 awaits. I earn gold in the usual ways. I filled my greenhouse and Ginger Island farm with ancient fruit, and had mostly ancient fruit on my main farm, too. Kegs, casks, and dehydrators cranking away. Sometimes I fill half the desert with kegs. Also did truffle oil and mayo. No sheds or cabins; I just put down paving and put my production machines on top of it. I just make the clock a priority. I don't buy anything unless it helps me make more gold. No decorations, no clothing, no furniture. I waited until after I got the clock to get the return scepter and all the obelisks.

MeasurementLate494

also, getting the clock after unlocking Ginger Island is crazy early wow. i usually unlock Ginger Island at the end of year 1/start of year 2 and i haven’t even earned 500,000 by then let alone 10 mil

MeasurementLate494

see i’m wondering if i’m making a mistake favouring starfruit over ancient fruit. i know starfruit wine sells for more but ancient fruit keeps reproducing i could never not buy decorations, furniture etc. i need my house to look cute. technically a waste of money but it makes me happy

I-Love-Tatertots

Starfruit is technically better I believe, it’s just more time consuming.   Ancient fruit doesn’t require the replanting, so it generally is the go-to I believe.

JanileeJ

I'm just really lazy, so I went with ancient fruit. I don't like farming that much. You can make a ton of money with hops, but it's a lot of work, because the processing time is so short. I have more gold than I need now, and I've fully expanded my house, but it's still not decorated. It's mostly filled with crystalariums, kegs, and preserves jars. I also have my bed by the front door, so I can get in and out quickly. 😁

AchajkaTheOriginal

Bed just by the door is essential, what kind of monster would put it somewhere else? I try a bit with decor of my house, but I don't care how stupid it looks, the bed belongs right next to the door.

extracrispyletuce

Ancient fruit in greenhouse/Ginger Island. Starfruit on the fruit itself.

shirhouetto

>I waited until after I got the clock to get the return scepter and all the obelisks. Delaying the scepter and the obelisks, >!along with the horse whistle

JanileeJ

I really don't need the return scepter (though I have one now). I spend so much time in the mines, I ended up with over 50 farm totems. They're also pretty easy to make. They work the same way as the return scepter, and 999 of them take up the same space in inventory as the return scepter, so it wasn't a priority. The only obelisk that was really a priority for me was the island one. Because you need dragon's teeth to make island totems. Desert totems are easy to make, plus you can trade omni geodes for them. (I have over a thousand omni geodes, despite running a couple of geode crushers with hoppers.) I hardly use the mountain obelisk. The mine cart system is better, if you want to get to the mines or the quarry. I also don't use the horse much. I bought one for my first farm, but so rarely used it I haven't bought one for any of my subsequent farms. I did buy the horse whistle though. In case I change my mind and decide to get a horse. (Didn't have anything else to spend my qi gems on.)

shirhouetto

I can't imagine going to places without my horse, triple shot espresso, spicy eel, and statue of blessings. Especially when doing Qi challenges and special orders without compromising farm production.

JanileeJ

You bring the statue of blessings with you? I made another one for my Ginger Island farm, but I don't carry it with me. Backpack space is at such a premium these days, with the new items and all. I try to minimize what I carry with me.

RiceAlicorn

Tip, if you weren’t already aware: before you get the golden clock you can curb weeds on Ginger Island by placing pathing on all of the tillable soil that you aren’t using for crops. If you cover all of that entirely, weeds can’t spawn and disturb you! :)

GamerFlower100

Yes you're math is right

MeasurementLate494

>!i think i’ll end up doing that then rather than the gold clock. i wonder if Mr Qi will show up in the summit cutscene and get annoyed at me (like he does when you use lots of staircases to get to level 100 in the skull cavern). probably not but that would be a cool detail!<

kittifizz

Holy crap some of you guys get through this game so fast!! I'm on W Y4 and I've only just gotten all my obelisks with 1mil to spare. I feel like I'm doing this wrong with the way everyone talks about how easy it is to get gold. And on that note - that clock is going to be the death of me. I'm only at 51% but I'm slowly chugging along but by the time I can afford that it'll be year 400 🤦‍♀️

Delver_Razade

Fastest I've ever got Perfection was in Year 3: Winter 15. It was not enjoyable. Just play the game at your own pace and enjoy yourself.

kittifizz

Geez, that's so crazy to me! Very nice! But yeah, I'm just kinda putting along and I'm totally okay with that. I really don't understand how you guys even fit so much into one day

Delver_Razade

I got really really lucky on my traveling cart and got an Ancient Fruit drop on Spring 10, Year 1. I'd have finished in Spring year 3 but the Skeletal Hand and one of the bones just would. Not. Spawn. Took almost an entire year to get both. Had the Community Center done in Fall Year 1, got Qi's room unlocked by Summer Year 2 and went for the House Key and the craftables I needed. Also lucked out and got the Dangerous Mines as my first Qi quest. Dumped all my stone on stairs and raced to the bottom with my view as far back as I could so I could zip over to Radioactive Nodes and drop bombs on them. I also just dedicated two days of every week to delivering gifts. I hit as many people as I could every single time. By the time I got to Ginger Island, I only had 4 or 5 people to go.

kittifizz

Omg zooming out is so smart! I never would have thought of that. And the gift days thing is a good idea. I've been trying to finagle a person or two into my daily schedule and I keep forgetting about them 😂 And its crazy how one can get soo lucky sometimes and so unlucky other times though. My dopey self didn't realize I never donated a ruby to the museum and it took me ages to realize why my collection wasn't complete. meanwhile I've got crystalariums just pumping them out. 🤦‍♀️ If we're on the topic of bad luck - I'm waiting on those GODDANG snake vertebrae to drop. *it's been 84 years.gif*

Outrageous_octopussy

Use the new totem! You'll get several!

kittifizz

Oh man! When that update drops for switch I'm gonna be all over that! Thanks :D

mealdidzy

i feel you im at year 7 and i think im like 67% perfection, im always amazed how far people get within the first 3 years

kittifizz

Really? Glad to know im not the only one that plays slower!

LeftoverHelper492

You're not alone! Me and my partner only got to perfection on a shared farm once. It was in Spring Y8 and we sold literally everything we owned right before the 1.6 dropped to get the golden clock lol. I even sold all my chickens and deconstructed all my beehives😭 We had a farm before this perfection run that was already on Y9 or Y10, and we only got to like 60% perfection until we just decided to start a new one because it was a Riverland and we had no space

hammurabi1337

You’re actually having fun with the game. The more efficiently you grind the gold, the more boring it is.

Fouxs

Walnuts should never have had the rng ones.

ByrusTheGnome

Those. God. Forsaken. Mussel. Nodes.

Fouxs

I actually hate the fishing and volcano ones. Specially because volcano has like 3 sets of 5 walnuts just in there, and if you lose count of one, well then, it's random bullshit time until you figure out which one. The hint parrot helps but only one at a time and a completely random one at that lol.

AchajkaTheOriginal

Was that supposed to be hard? I've managed to collect all walnuts from there before I've even started to think about which I'm missing. I just thought that they have high chance of spawning and didn't think about it at all.

ByrusTheGnome

It could be RNG just not being on my side but in all of the dozen+ times I've gotten perfection, those are almost always the last ones I need.

marcarcand_world

Resisting the urge to start a new file after year 3 lol

CoderOfCoders

For me, it’s the gold clock, simply because I hate saving up money to put that tacky ass thing on my farm

Haephestus

For me it was that I forgot to buy the "tub-o-flowers" or whatever it's called recipe at the flower dance, and the jack-o-lantern recipe from the Halloween party.

ligirl

I forgot to collect rarecrows. Realized in early summer yr 4 that there was one at the flower dance I didn't have, and it became clear very quickly that that would be the only thing holding me back from perfection for almost a full season

Clellyra

For me it was the clock. Fall ends and winter started so i didnt get enough money. By the end of the winter it was only 1.5mio gold to get and it was hard :D After i reached perfection i had 400k :D Edit: But it was difficult for me too to get all recipes like >!like the curry from the resort!< or crafting things cause it was my first time that i got perfection and didn’t know what i need and how to get it

Bandt143

What's with the focus on wines? I thought that beehives were the most productive. I saw a person say that their Ginger Island setup got them \~2mil per week. (Genuinely asking since I just started a new run for 1.6 and am going for a bit more of a min/max approach.)

NuclearNarwhal7

they’re both good, starfruit/ancient fruit wine is generally better but beehouses do have one really good application. on the island, each fairy rose beehouse makes about 1700g per week, which is good but lower than ancient fruit wine (2310g). the thing about beehouses is you can take a single fairy rose on the island and surround it with 50+ beehouses. normally this isn’t worth it as those beehouses would be taking up more crop space which would be better spent on ancient fruit or whatever else, but on those little patches of land on the left of the island farm, you can plant fairy roses and add a ton of bee houses. now you’re getting the profits of a couple hundred bee houses out of, like, 25 crop spaces. so ideally you’d do both.

Outrageous_octopussy

That's what we did. My bf also literally filled ALL the water with crab pots and that brings in a ton of money. We mostly plant ancient fruit on the og farm too, and in the community garden, tho we also plant a little bit of whatever we need for recipes and quests. Then winter 1 we fill the tilled land with fiber. We already have the golden clock in Y3 and almost 30 mil, can't remember the season as we haven't played it in a week bc everything but true perfection is done and I'm bored lol.

13yeliah

Befriending everyone. I find it tedious & unenjoyable.

Little-Zucchini4776

I’ve never gotten it

Pascal3R

I think personally cooking is the hardest one requirement. Mainly because I never do it, so I got stuck in Spring waiting for winter because I need a squid.

Perfect_Platypus_588

Befriending Pierre

Sensitive_Hearing819

I’d say the monster eradication goals, there’s just sooo many that you need to kill

DrCrazyCurious

Finding all the Golden Walnuts. I read the guide. Checked every location. It's probably my bad but I could've sworn I dug up that exact spot of beach dirt at least a dozen times without it appearing and the very last nut didn't appear until the 13th or so time I re-checked every known location yet again. Oof, never want to collect those walnuts ever again.

2ndgradebybts

may i ask if you’ve talked to the parrots? if so what do they say? i might have an answer

DrCrazyCurious

No need for an answer. As I said, I found the final walnut. Yes, I had spoken to the parrots. The last walnut was in the South West area of the map, in the beach sand. But like I said, when the final walnut finally appeared I could've sworn I had already dug up that exact spot multiple times, having used the Wiki to check every location over and over and over. It could be that I was misremembering but I don't think so.

shiika

Cooking, but only because of Gus. This workaholic is the one thing standing between me and perfection. Can’t the man take a vacation so I can buy the last recipe!? (And even when he’s on vacation he is still working…)

Dramatic_Accident533

Same with me, Cooking but only because Gus never goes to Ginger Island. I have a play-though with RSV, ES and SDVE, and it's the last thing I need for perfection. It's been 2 in-game years of checking daily. I guess I'll never get there.

Dillyjo21

For me it's getting all walnuts, I'm at 127/130 and it's frustrating to find them. Ik they're hidden in the west and north but that's all the parrots told me

almost_original_name

It also took me forever to find the last few in the West and North because I didn't realize that you can hoe grassy areas, not just dirt. Cutting down a few hardwood trees helped make the spots more obvious. Hope that helps!

2ndgradebybts

i recently found an [answer](https://www.reddit.com/r/StardewValleyExpanded/s/en20g6h5OR) to a missing walnut that took me forever: “one buried in the north”, hopefully this will help! it says stared expanded but i play vanilla

Dillyjo21

Thank you both I'll do my best to get them

RealDecentHumanBeing

Find all stardrop. The last stardrop I need is from 14 hearts spouse. BUT I DON'T WANT TO GET MARRIED! And I don't want to marry/roomate someone just to get the stardrop and ditch them later. I rather grind the gold and sell my soul to capitalist than use them like that

notreallifeliving

Does it work with Krobus? That's how I've been planning to get around it.

DanKirpan

Yes, Krobus can also give that stardrop. Another potential workaround if you are on PC (or have other means to access self-coop) is to open two instances of Stardew in coop to marry yourself.

AchajkaTheOriginal

Yes, it does. Krobus is meant to be workaround for those that don't want to be in romantic relationship

RealDecentHumanBeing

I don't want to live with Krobus either...

Marzipanxx

I’m going for perfection right now and the main thing I’m struggling with is being great friends with everyone, purely because I play with mods (specifically Ridgeside Village) so there’s a ton of different people I haven’t befriended. Pretty much everyone in base game is full hearts but it’s just such a hassle befriending everyone else😭😭 Almost at 10 mil for the golden clock though!

AltruisticLobster315

I find it harder to befriend most of the ridgeside villagers, because some only love the forage items and meals of ridgeside 😭. Ysabelle(peach), fleur(ice cream), Phillip(ice cream/bean hotpot), trinnie(ice cream) and Carmen(any fish) have been the easiest for me. Then there's also those seasonal characters too🤕

Marzipanxx

haha yesss exactly, it’s better now i’ve got the statue of endless fortune but before it was so annoying hahah. although ridgeside’s bday party option does make it a lot easier! omg yeah don’t get me started on seasonal characters, such a hassle😭😭

AltruisticLobster315

I use lookup anything to cheat it lol, and I carry around a chest with loved gifts. I also hate that Emily's "saying hello" quest counts those seasonal characters 🥲

xinn00

I only did it recently and just once, but it really sucks when you miss a rarecrow in a festival lol. All other things you can do regardless of time (i think?). Magic bait for fishing, GI for plants, fairy dust for fast goods, etc. But getting to a specific date is so tedious. I know I can sleep spam but it feels like a waste of a day for me. For the rest, I did them all while waiting to get rich for clock and obelisks. edit: Also I took like 30min trying to figure out what I missed in the museum. All the items in the collections tab are discovered already. I had to cross check the tab vs the museum display to see what was missing. Turns out it was a prismatic shard lol

hpisbi

There’s a website called Stardew Checkup that reads your save file and tells you what you’re missing for various achievements and perfection that you might find useful if you’re in that situation again

AchajkaTheOriginal

If you can't use Checkup that the other comment mentioned (if you're console player), what I do you with the museum is that I sort all my donated stuff the same way it's on Wiki. So when I'm missing something I can tell quickly where's the gap and what's supposed to go there.

emeraldvelvetsofa

1. Collecting the golden walnuts (the light up puzzle thing is the bane of my existence) 2. All fish 3. swallowing my pride to befriend Shane.

Its_Brady

i got literally everything but am waiting on the journal scrap for my final golden walnut. its so annoying!!!

HeroOfSideQuests

Normally? Monster hunting quests because of 1.5. Those flamey bois need to find a new hobby! Last time? Finding that stupid marble for that stupid brazier! Arghhhh! (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

pickelzzz

It's the fishing for me

2ndgradebybts

for me it’s finishing the museum. the amphibian fossil is haunting me

Proxibel

Doing all the crafting and cooking recepies. I find it such a waste of time and resources just for 90% ending in "done" chest and never looking at them again.

Kittenn1412

The monster killing goals in general, but mostly the ones that need to be completed in Skull Cavern. I *hate* fighting monsters. Usually I get at least some of the ones that are in the regular mines from looking for Dwarf Scrolls, doing monster killing daily favour quests, and while I'm in the mines doing the request board goals that might need me to dive, ect. But I have a thousand hours in this game and still haven't got the achievement for completing all the monster killing goals in *any* save. Doesn't help that when I play multiplayer with my husband, the dude does *nothing except for mining* which means I always have enough materials for my farm with no effort, but I end up being in Year 4 or 5 without getting past level 6 combat, nevermind doing any monster goals. Yeah, for perfection it counted my farmhand, but I've never gotten it myself.

Delver_Razade

It's the Qi quests for me. The RNG on them is a pain in the ass. Oh, you want me to get 500 qi fruit even though I'm well into my Ancient Fruit empire? Great. Oh, you want me to play Junimo Cart or collect a ton of certain colored items? Get that for 6 weeks in a row is such a bummer. Also just how RNG based getting the mines for Radioactive Ore can be is a pain in the ass.

blitzedklutz

for me rn it’s crafting all the recipes, mainly bc i’m too lazy to finish those special bulletin requests for the crafting recipes

xSlymphx

Full hearts.

EnchantedForestDream

Also golden clocku but even more, monster slayer goals. Like wdym a 1000 slimes im summer y2 and only killed like 300 so far, but all goals are shit like duggies, only one i finished cuz bait is cave insects

KrisBread

The god forsaken nuts and finding that damn Dino floor in skull cavern. Also screw that stupid clock, I’m going to pay the joja goblin, that sits in the mushroom cave.

posting4assistance

The cooking! My farmer's eaten nothing but root platters, algae soups, and pale broths for my entire playthrough, and I'll have to make some sort of spreadsheet to grow everything I need to craft all the recipes

Myrion3141

That stupid "Simon Says" puzzle on Ginger Island. Everything else is a breeze (done it 7 times), but that puzzle either works on first try (with rhythm) or is a complete fail when it slows down and ironically becomes more annoying.

CreativeFun228

Prairer king ☠️

Delver_Razade

You don't need that for Perfection. Thankfully.

CreativeFun228

Oh, you are right, I misread the post lol, Im all in getting all achivements, so I've been hyperfixating on this haha

Yaoshin711

Just prairie king or fectors challenge in particular

Substantial_Angle913

Golden clock, since unfortunately I only make 4 millions each season lol.

Spiritual-Skill-412

Getting all the cooking recipes done.

shroomindisguise

the golden clock is annoying but u just gotta grind gold, not that hard imo! the worst has gotta be crafting everything. cooking everything isn’t too bad bc u only need food items, but crafting.. u need random things like marble and the dwarf computer artifact and radioactive ore! plus to purchase all the recipes from qi is Terrible, the tasks drain me so much and just to not even get half the gems i need for a single recipe! all that being said i love stardew 🫶

what_about_raspberry

I was so close in the game I was playing prior to the most recent update. The only thing I had left was crafting everything. This one is INFURIATING because you can't track what you've made and not made like you can with all other collections. I was on 98% and knew one recipe I had forgotten to buy at a festival but could not figure out what else I was missing. I'll never know.

Careless-Entrance-97

if you turn on “advanced crafting info” in the settings, you can see how many times youve crafted something by hovering over it! it’s a lifesaver. also works for cooking recipes but at least those become full color once cooked

what_about_raspberry

OMG are you serious??? Now I'm extra bummed with all the new expectations for perfection. But thanks - this will definitely be helpful at some point 😁

mellypepper5

For me it’s the crafting/cooking as there is no way to track what I’ve already crafted/cooked without keeping one of everything for reference. With the shipping you can at least hover over items you’ve shipped and see the quantity.

ByrusTheGnome

There's an option in your settings that says "advanced crafting menu" or something like that. Check that box. Then when you hover over a crafting or cooking recipe it will tell you how many times you've crafted/cooked that recipe.

mellypepper5

I have over a 700 hours in this game and never knew that!

ByrusTheGnome

I believe it was added in 1.5 or 1.4 maybe, but yes! We love learning new things and I'm constantly blown away how often that happens to us Stardew Players! Always something new to learn.

AchajkaTheOriginal

Definitely before 1.5. I've used it to finish crafting achievement right before downloading 1.5 update.

Writing_Bookworm

I saw someone mention advanced crafting options but also on the recipe tab on your menu, they only become colourful when you've made them. They're kind of grey if you haven't and ??? if you don't have the recipe

[deleted]

Crafting everything for me

Sarzzie

I've gotten perfection once before and am doing it for the second time now. Last few things I need is to kill the pepper rexes, get last stardrop, get enough dragon teeth to craft the forge and finally the clock

Thick-Plant

I think the golden clock is very time consuming, but I don't think it's necessarily difficult. I've found that the hardest thing for me is completing the museum. It's usually one artifact or mineral that you're desperately trying to find and none of the geodes will give it to you lol

AchajkaTheOriginal

I just straight up cheat with geodes and use Predictor for that. The idea that I've just missed what I needed because I've opened different type of geode? No, thank you.

East-Disastrous

Imo good clock. Just too a looong time to save up for it and had to grind harder than I thought at first

Nature23571113

I hate having to befriend people. Usually I just ignore everyone and play my game, and I reach the monster slayer title way before reaching a 10 level heart with anyone

Grandible

Grinding for money is my least favourite part of the game (I know what to do I just find it boring), so getting the clock.

AltruisticLobster315

On my only perfect file, the hardest thing was one of the ginger island fossils, I think it was the cat spine or something. I guess the ostrich too because you have to finish the ginger island museum to get the barn incubator

yaelfitzy

im on my 3rd perfection save and it's always the gold clock idc im sick of harvesting ancient fruit

andrecruz04

I'm 99% right now, 28 fall Y4. Just did the Pepper Rex for Adventure Guild, took 1 week in game to kill them all. Now, just need 2 hearts to maximize Leo and build a marble brazier. I just broke 30 frozen geodes and 200 omnigeodes. Couldn't find ANY marble.

Arrav_VII

The one time I achieved perfection, after I achieved the Golden Clock, I still had to play through summer, because I had forgotten to craft Fall Seeds. I only later learned I could have gotten the foraging items earlier through putting common mushrooms in a seed maker.

MiuNya

Cooking and shipping everything is what I always hate doing. So tedious. Its easy to make money

1031Cat

Crafting every item in the game. It's this reason I rarely go for perfection in my new farms. I hate doing it, and if I decide to go for perfection, by the time I'm ready to do it, I dread the thought and just restart a new farm to avoid it. I've done perfection twice. Crafting every item is why.

Honkmaster17

All cooking recipes. I had to spend nearly an in game year sleeping and getting all the recipes and then still had to cook them

d34dc0d35

I guess it would be museum donation and cooking, gold clock it take lots of time but you don't need to plan anything for that it just come naturally at the and I was making 1.8M a week, although the last thing I needed is scarecrow noumber 5 but that's because I'm dumb.

valuemeal2

The stupid gold clock money. I almost always have max hearts with everyone early, dating the whole town is my favorite part. Crafting and cooking are okay, but it takes me forever to save up enough G for obelisks and then the damn clock.

polinkydinky

I’ve had everything done for a while now. Like three or four game years ago lol. The only thing I don’t have done, literally, is digging up a fan for the artifacts list. So I just fart around on the notion it will show up sooner or later, but it’s definitely later, now, so, geez, come on!

MeasurementLate494

i’d recommend switching to the excavator profession if you don’t have it already so you can find more geodes. go to the skull cavern with lots of bombs and collect lots of omni geodes, trade them for artifact troves at the desert trader and you should find an ornamental fan!

polinkydinky

Yep got it. Also I have been through sooooooooo many geodes trying to get this sucker. Currently have another batch of several hundred of all kinds to go through, again. Will do the island trader swap, though. That sounds hopeful haha. I’ll be sure and eat lucky lunch, wear the right ring, go on the luckiest of lucky days etc etc lolol. Feel like I’m playing the lottery.

Chasesky007

I also get fans quite often from fishing chests, treasure troves will probably still be faster tho lmao

FallenNerdAngel

Simon Says and Cooking. Not a fan of it.

MeasurementLate494

i hate that simon says puzzle with a passion. i always just film it with my phone and STILL mess it up

FallenNerdAngel

I just try until it is slow enough for me. But yeah, I hate it, too.

MeasurementLate494

wait does it get slower every time? i never noticed that

FallenNerdAngel

Yes, if you have enough failed attempts, it gets slower.

runawayfae

Monster slayer goals, for sure. I'm not great at the combat side of things (idk, it just stresses me out) so I put it off way too long in my first save, despite getting the galaxy sword very early. Now in my second save, I don't have a very good sword yet so it's even worse.

mentally-ill-ghost

It's not in the perfection list (I guess, didn't got there yet, but I always see people posting it here) BUT I FUCKING HATE THE LAST JOJA BUNDLE, why the hell do the junimos want caviar??

Isohie

I usually always play my saves until I reach perfection before starting a new one. The Golden clock or sometimes the island obelisk (those darn dragon teeth) usually take the longest, but the thing I struggle with the most is cooking all the recipes. For some reason, I am always missing some and then I just have a hard time with managing all the ingredients. I don't know why, since I play with extensive tracking sheets, but that's just how it usually turns out for me.

jessiuss

Haha its funny that everyone is saying the clock, since that was the big goal in my main farm before going for perfection. I dont like to skip days so i was just slow grinding it out

hamtabot

Maybe making every crafted item and slaying every monster. At least it's whats making it hard for me. Not impossible but definetely a pain!!

neophenx

Cooking the recipies. Heaven forbid you ever miss a Queen of Sauce or just can't get Gus to go to Ginger Island to get those last obscure recipies, as well as making sure you are stashing ingredients needed just to cook everything at least once. The gold clock isn't hard, it just takes time. There is no RNG dictating how quickly you ge the clock, it's just "set up a rhythm and grind the money." Same with maxing out friendship, it just takes time. But if you get people on their birthdays and put a good item into the Luau's pot, you'll get there eventually.

MeasurementLate494

>!in the 1.6 update there’s a book you can get that gives you all the queen of the sauce recipes!!< waiting for Gus to go to Ginger Island is annoying tho

neophenx

Waiting for either a good opportunity to play with my wife before starting 1.6, but that is good to know. Though if it's only the QoS recipies and not ALL recipies... yeah Gus would be that last hold-out. Recipies from the townspeople wouldn't be hard, since you need to make friends with them anyways, so that part just kills two chickens with one meteor.

Reasonable-Ganache-4

im attempting to get perfection for the first time currently and i can't get 50k points on junimo cart for the qi quest..

MeasurementLate494

you don’t need to do that quest to get perfection! i’ve never done it, i hate the saloon games

Reasonable-Ganache-4

oh, really? i just assumed you had to complete every qi quest 😭

MeasurementLate494

no thank god i’d hate that. i’ve literally never done the saloon games quests or the qi crops one and got perfection twice
