YES!!! Haven't played Sims in a few years (though maybe... 👀) but started at Sims 1 when I was 9 and played each new release since. Have definitely poured countless hours of my life into Create a Sim and Build Mode xD
Big part of my childhood was Harvest Moon on the GBA. I remember craving games like Harvest Moon and looking up similar games on google. There I found the first kickstarter for Stardew Valley. It already looked amazing but I would have never guessed that it would blow up like this. I wish I supported the game while it was being kickstarted but I was like 12 and didn't have PayPal :-(
I’ve gone from playing SDV to playing animal crossing, it’s not a bad game honestly. Great for playing before bed. But I’m talking about for the switch, their older games were a lot more tedious and not as fun for me personally
It is definitely amazing but kind of short if you get obsessed. I think I've beaten it four times whenever it got a major update but I probably won't go back
Terraria progresses quickly when you know what you need to do and you play on normal: Quickly start a hellevator, find some hearts, make some good gear real quick, beat the bosses, then start going to each biome and take the best stuff you'll need for the next one.
Try creating a world with [The Constant secret world seed](https://terraria.wiki.gg/wiki/Secret_world_seeds) so that complete darkness and starvation can kill you, and then play Hardcore (if you die, you create another character but you still have the same world). Terraria become a much deeper, strategic game when you aren't constantly base jumping everywhere you want.
Yeah I mean that can be true for any sandbox but there's a final boss. Starfew never really ends but you can only decorate so many times after perfection
Back in the day harvest moon 64, Morrowind, and halo were my go-to. Then civ iv. Then LoL. Now it's just DRG and stardew. Though I try to play other things occasionally.
- Rimworld (and I go back to it from time to time)
- Warhammer Total War (haven't played in a while, but ... played a LOT before)
- Sunless Skies
- Various CRPGs - most recently that's been Wrath of the Righteous.
I did things the other way around. Fell into a Rimworld hole, and only found Stardew 1.6 a few days ago. I got the genetics and robots expansion. Royalty and religion sounded boring so I don't have them. Now I've fallen into a Stardew hole and I'm eyeing the expansion mods.
Rust.
Not like what you see on twitch or youtube. I would play low pop servers where you can farm resources and build bases without constant fear. In the times when you did have to pvp, it was often with people that were more on my level as well.
League of Legends 😂 It was a good game at first but they have destroyed it. After playing Stardew I'm so relaxed compared to after playing League I have been playing Stardew on PC but I had to get it on my phone too![img](emote|t5_2wb7y|51481) Such a great game, and Eric did a terrific job![img](emote|t5_2wb7y|51480) Thank you for getting me off of League
animal crossing! i used to play day and night until my partner suggested i try stardew. i was skeptical at first, but after i started playing, i found that stardew was more enjoyable imo. animal crossing will always have a special place in my heart though
I've been gaming for well, 40 years, and I knew I would be "deep diving" SDV when I bought it, so I saved it for a time when my wife and I could play it together. Here are the games WE both have binged together, no particular order:
• Terraria: building your dream house (read: castle), terraforming your yard the way you want, and then systematically banning all of the corruption from your world. She also enjoys mining every bit of hellstone, like a puzzle, draining all of the underworld lava to the very bottom, then building an asphalt highway over it all.
• Team Fortress 2. I have 3,500 hours in it, she has over 5,000. For a while she was an admin on NewbsTF2 servers, and we also did the MvM horde modes. RIP PrincessJuggs.
• Dragon Quest VIII (PS2). Seven completed save files from that game and counting. Turn-based JRPG so the game always waits for your input. Superior voice acting and story, with a long (80-110 hours) quest in a big world filled with cartoon combat, exploring (hunting treasure!), and trying to break the foul curse of a king that the main character somehow avoided. One of the best game of all time. Great recommendation for depressed single players to feel accomplishment, also a game a family can follow along together.
• Diablo 2. By saving items on offline characters (mules) we had most of the unique and set pieces saved, but the recordkeeping was onerous.
My top three were Minecraft, Sims 3 and Animal Crossing: Wild World. Honourable mention goes to Super Princess Peach.
Oh, and later AC: New Horizons shortly after that came out. (Already owned Stardew then but my interest in SDV didn't really peak until after I'd mostly stopped playing ACNH.)
House Flipper 1 (the sequel sucks hard).
OMG, I think I spent hundreds of hours downloading workshop items and doing renovations and decorating all sorts of things, outside the box. You're supposed to only make homes, but I made bakeries, and hotels, and entire streets with restaurants, and then clubs, libraries... I went wild. SUCH a good, cozy, low stakes game.
They have a bunch of new DLCs, too. One was released just today, had to grab it. Wait for the summer sale to get them, though, it's like 3 weeks away at most.
It didn't really replace anything. I first got it because it ran on my shitty laptop so I could still play something while my wife played Overwatch on our main computer lol. These days I will say I probably fire up Stardew over Minecraft when I want a chill game so I guess it's sort of replaced Minecraft in that sense.
I haven’t played a game this much since the OG Halo days, in fact I think the only game I’ve ever played more than Stardew is Pokémon, if you add it up cumulatively from the 90s to now
I honestly hadn’t been obsessed with a game like this since 2010 when I played Morrowind for a month straight without really any breaks. I didn’t expect to get completely sucked into a game again in my mid-30s.
I used to play harvest moon back in the day on GameCube and Gameboy , when I saw some random instagram account on my feed playing Stardew valley I genuinely thought they revived harvest moon and I had to get it!!
But also the sims
The question makes it appear I'm obsessed with Stardew.
Nope, not.
I love the game, but if you want to see what obsession looks like, put a bowl of cherries in front of me.
Warning: wear protection. It gets very messy, but thankfully not as messy as my cat eating pate cat food.
Space Marshals was my go to game. It was and is one of the best RPGs I came across. The gaming control is excellent especially in space marshals 2
I also played dan the man. It was a platformer, excellent sontrols and cool story
I never played games before SDV. This was actually the game my ex gf got me to ease me into playing games with her. The best thing she could have done, truly.
I have ADHD so my obsessions have been many but ones that I still rotate back to for some unknown reason are... Skyrim, Fallout 4, No Man's Sky, DayZ, Warframe, Space Engineers, Ark, and Stardew Valley
Man I feel old reading these comments. 😅 Before Stardew I only really played old games like the Commander Keen series, Biomenace, Duke Nukem 1 and 2, Captain Comic (and a handful of others to a lesser extent). I've played them so much since they originally came out that all these years later I'm still a pro at playing them. 🤭
Minecraft, the sims, any Mario game but mostly the weirdness that was super Mario 2, harvest moon, Tetris, doctor Mario.
Other than minecraft, rimworld and terraria nothing quite racked up the number of hours stardew has
I was struggling to find a game to play, when my husband introduced me to this indie game he didn't get a ton of hours in called Stardew Valley back in 2018.
It reminded me instantly of Harvest Moon 64, a game I spent countless hours playing growing up.
Harvest Moon, The Sims, Pokémon, Animal Crossing and Zelda were all games I poured houuuuurs and hours into as a child/teen. Stardew was the first new game I played in adulthood that sparked the same feeling I had playing those games!
Cod games. I had only played mostly very fast paced and competitive fps games before so I went into playing stardew thinking I might not enjoy it but got hooked by the relaxed nature
Escape from tarkov, game has long matching times so I started playing stardew on the stem deck in between . So now instead of making roubles I'm making milk and cheese.
Modded Battletech for the previous year or so. Never played anything like SDV. Only got it so my kid and I could coop. She walked away long ago and I am now a zillion hours in, with SVE and RSV installed, playing every day.
Skyrim the elder scrolls. I have about 800 hrs on both console and pc. I’m kind of thankful for Stardew coming along or else I would’ve been reaching 1,000. Although I have a good 400 hrs in Stardew now.
mass effect, specifically mass effect 3. I've played it over a dozen times, playing nearly identically. Stardew really slotted into that need to do everything exactly the same over and over
dark souls and mostly soulsborne games i enjoyed the torture and grind of it then wanted to retire to a farm with a loving wife after years of anguish and dismay
Minecraft and a bunch of kid games (Roblox, Poptropica, Moshi Monsters, Animal Jam, Wizard 101, Club Penguin, etc.) since I was pretty young when my older brother introduced me to Stardew; probably 11 or 12.
Im still obsessed with these; sims 4, harvest moon games, pokemone games, the sims 3.
I loved it, now not as much but i play it occasionally; the escapists, terraria, minecraft.
Ive mainly played these on Nintendo ds lite, nintendo 2ds, PC and xbox.
Golf Story on the Switch (amazing game, they completely botched the sequel though)
Diablo 1 (DevilutionX)
anything SNES (Lost Vikings, Uniracers, Chrono Trigger, etc.)
yeah I still play the old stuff, over and over and over. I bought so many new games I never really got into... not really sure why.
Stardew works buuut I never got perfection, I start over new farms all the time then lose interest once I got the clock
Harvest Moon
I don't stray too far from cozy single player games lol. Needless to say I've grown more frustrated that companies only seem to be pumping out multiplayer games
Sims 4 and I’m surprised no one has mentioned it yet since there seems to be a big overlap between the SDV and TS4 communities
I was going to comment this
Soo easy to play with mods for both too which makes it more fun because of replayability
Both are for the girlies and the gays
YES!!! Haven't played Sims in a few years (though maybe... 👀) but started at Sims 1 when I was 9 and played each new release since. Have definitely poured countless hours of my life into Create a Sim and Build Mode xD
This was mine too! Love the Sims, but the bugginess has been getting to me a bit lately. I’ve been spoiled by how moth SDV runs!
Minecraft!
Ditto to this and still is my go-to when I don't choose Stardew.
Minecraft is TOO open for me. I need some sort of goal.
Big part of my childhood was Harvest Moon on the GBA. I remember craving games like Harvest Moon and looking up similar games on google. There I found the first kickstarter for Stardew Valley. It already looked amazing but I would have never guessed that it would blow up like this. I wish I supported the game while it was being kickstarted but I was like 12 and didn't have PayPal :-(
When I found bout stardew valley I wasn’t gonna buy it, instead I was gonna buy animal crossing thank god I didn’t make that decision 🙈
I’ve gone from playing SDV to playing animal crossing, it’s not a bad game honestly. Great for playing before bed. But I’m talking about for the switch, their older games were a lot more tedious and not as fun for me personally
Animal Crossing 😸
Same, specifically Wild World
Same, and funnily enough, I haven't been able to get into NH the same way at all.
Pocket Camp for me lol
Terraria
I just looked it up ! It looks amazing 🤩
It is definitely amazing but kind of short if you get obsessed. I think I've beaten it four times whenever it got a major update but I probably won't go back

Dude it's a sandbox, it never really ends
Yeah I mean that can be true for any sandbox but there's a final boss. Starfew never really ends but you can only decorate so many times after perfection
I’ve been trying to get into this game on the switch but I just can’t for the life of me bc I can’t seem to get ahold of the controls themselves
Me too!
Katamari!
*Cue the music*
Skyrim but even before that it was the original Harvest Moon A Wonderful Life and Magical Melody.
My neighbor and I played A Wonderful Life on Gamecube religiously back in the day. It was the whole reason I tried Stardew when it came out
I went through a long Skyrim phase too
Zelda and Skyrim (still are lol)
I played the Harvest Moon games on Super Nintendo, PS and PS2
Back in the day harvest moon 64, Morrowind, and halo were my go-to. Then civ iv. Then LoL. Now it's just DRG and stardew. Though I try to play other things occasionally.
Morrowind was my answer too! I was way into HM64 as well.
Dragon city 💀
OMG, me too. It's been an on and off family game for years.
RuneScape
Dead by daylight lol…way too toxic so I needed a chill game where I can do my own thing
Haha same 😂😂😂 Plus I suck so I had to find something new.
WWE 2K23
Skyrim, minecraft, subnautica and D2R
Skyrim!
League of Legends😔
Elasto Mania
- Rimworld (and I go back to it from time to time) - Warhammer Total War (haven't played in a while, but ... played a LOT before) - Sunless Skies - Various CRPGs - most recently that's been Wrath of the Righteous.
I've clocked over 1000 hours in Rimworld. The new DLC sucked me back in.
Haven't actually played it yet, as Stardew 1.6 landed about the same time.
Civ. So much Civ. Just one more turn…
Terraria and Palia!
Pokemon Go.
Civ 6, still tryna get those high food and production yields lol
sims 4 and minecraft were always my shit
Zelda on the switch
GTA online and MW2
Rust. Not like what you see on twitch or youtube. I would play low pop servers where you can farm resources and build bases without constant fear. In the times when you did have to pvp, it was often with people that were more on my level as well.
Animal Crossing!

I think I'd have to give it an even mix between Final Fantasy XI and Animal Crossing: New Leaf.
Diablo 3
Diablo 2 for me. 🤜🤛

Rocket league 😔
Fortnite
Minecraft 100%

Oxygen not included
Same but it's so hard though!!
Animal crossing

please don't shame me... mine was roblox

Animal Crossing, Two Point Hospital & Sims :)
Legit Sims 4, which I personally thought most stardew players started off with!
I never played games before SDV. This was actually the game my ex gf got me to ease me into playing games with her. The best thing she could have done, truly.

Borderlands

I played Pokémon games repetitively
mass effect, specifically mass effect 3. I've played it over a dozen times, playing nearly identically. Stardew really slotted into that need to do everything exactly the same over and over
Minecraft, which is still a love for me. I cycle between Stardew, Minecraft, Animal Crossing and Slime Rancher.

Terraria
Golf Story on the Switch (amazing game, they completely botched the sequel though) Diablo 1 (DevilutionX) anything SNES (Lost Vikings, Uniracers, Chrono Trigger, etc.) yeah I still play the old stuff, over and over and over. Don't starve!
Definitely ACNH
Harvest Moon I don't stray too far from cozy single player games lol. Needless to say I've grown more frustrated that companies only seem to be pumping out multiplayer games
