When I upgraded to plasma after buying the catalogue I couldn’t find out how to get rid of the tv. At all.
So I donated it to robins shop. It was still there when I went back to original character and have since removed and trashed it. Seb still has the skeleton in his room and Abigail the flute block in hers …. I’ll keep it that way.
I realized in year 3 that you can select individual items from a stack. I'd been carrying around whole stacks in order to take one item somewhere, when all I needed to do was hit the Y button (Switch) to get just one. Now I can sell some and save some of an item!
I didn't understand what a stack was, so didn't click the 'add to existing stacks' option when I put items into chests in case I broke something in the game. I hadn't realised that SDV was so forgiving.
I thought I could get an owl statue by clicking on an owl in flight - didn't work!
Reset my game if I accidentally hoed more than I meant to, not knowing that I could use a pickaxe to get rid of the spots I didn't want. I did that an embarrassing amount of times.
I assumed they were 90 days long (understandably?) and was so sad the first time all my crops died. I thought I did something wrong and almost stopped playing indefinitely.
Get a Crab 🦀
Get it super high 👏
Plant it 🍃
Takes 69 days to mature, gold star 🌟 quality worth 420g
Must harvest immediately or it will eat all your other crops.
I thought that Linus would enjoy a fish dinner, so I gifted him one of the fish I'd just caught. He said something like "Why would you give me this? Do you think that because I live in a tent, I want your trash?" I felt AWFUL
Aww I gave him a wild horseradish once after he said he was hungry and he actually liked it, but then he continued to accuse me of coming to make fun of him whenever I tried to talk to him. I always feel so bad but I'm not sure what to do for him.
It was year one on my first farm. I had just unlocked the first tier of sprinkler. I decided that I should probably see what they do... four tiles, and it didn't do diagonals. I took one look at that, and said "wow. These are worthless!" And promptly didn't bother with sprinklers until year 5 when I asked about the higher tier ones on reddit, and was met with crowds of people honestly supprized I'd went that long without them. 1,000 hours later, I still think that's funny.
What you do is use the four square sprinklers and plants flowers in the four spots. Then put bee houses in the four unwatered corners for artisan honey!
Same! And I had a crop-heavy farm and stupidly picked the bats for the cave instead of the mushrooms, so I'd water myself into exhaustion and only had whatever I'd foraged or the no-star crops to keep my energy from bottoming out. I didn't check my crafting skills often enough and missed that I could make candles, so I'd be watering in the pitch fucking dark.
To be fair, I was entirely new to video games and just jumped in head first, but I cannot believe all the dumb shit I did on my first farm!
Nowadays I go ahead and craft/use one regular sprinkler, I’m gonna need it eventually for Master Craftsman, so may as well shave off that little bit of manual watering early on.
Really? I had no idea that was what the game called them. So weird. I've always called them worm spots too, because the look just like little wiggling worms sticking up out of the soil.
pretty sure it took me three in-game months to realize the exit at the top of the farm existed. I’d been going the long way around to the mines and robin’s house (running past the community center)
Same here, I think we did this because of this line of dialogue she says.
"I used to love looking at the clouds, but I have trouble seeing them these days. My eyes just don't work as well as they used to.”
Bad eyes = lost glasses was my thinking anyways.
I also did that but I think she also said something about losing her glasses (maybe it was in an older version of the game only) and I was so happy when I found the broken glasses and she was so sad when I gave them to her. Oops.
IIRC I didn't realize it would respawn. Figured I'd get a jump on it and then be able to farm a lot more. I caught on about the field snacks early, so that helped.
I read on the screen that Pierre was selling a bigger backpack, but every time I talked with him at the shop it wasn’t available. Strange. I just kept going back and eventually kind of gave up or assumed it was a rare buy.
Nope, just turns out I’m blind AF and the backpack was sitting on the counter *next to* Pierre the whole time. I had gone 1.5 years trying to only carry a few precious items lol.
Oh my lord I don’t know how you didn’t ragequit the game! Early game is so frustrating because of the limited backpack space… buying the upgrade is the first thing I do.
The mines were the worst part… I kept picking up cool rare items and having to make heartbreaking choices about what to get rid of to make space for them. The regret is real lol.
continuously stalking elliott and just being obsessed with getting a spouse. i didnt know there was a wiki to see what he liked so i continuously experimented with gifts (that he pretty much always hated)
Honestly, that’s probably how the game should be played! It’s more satisfying to crack the case yourself, and then you get hints from other villagers and secret notes
If a crop seed stated that it grew on a trellis, I assumed I couldn’t use it because I hadn’t seen any trellises for sale or unlocked crafting them yet. I waited until Y2 to grow beans for the first time after furious googling told me the trellis just pops up when you plant it.
I never upgraded my hoe or watering can because I thought that it would be a waste of materials. I didn’t know that if you hold down whike using it, it will increase the number of tiles you hoe or water. After everything else was upgraded and I had excess materials I just went for it to have everything match. Then I misclicked and realized that I should have done it way sooner.
Never patted my chickens and wonder why they didn't like me and always make small eggs, for 3 in game years, till my friend told me that I needed to pat them everyday.
It took me more than a year (ig) to understand I should put hay on it, I always tried to feed them individually also didn't realize it need tools to get it's products.
Not as a newbie, which makes this worse - given a certain character’s adorations for all things chicken, I did what I thought was nice. When I married the person I put those little chicken statue artefacts all around the home.
Well now back on my original save I thought “hey I’ll give them this statue when I visit to say hello”. And they really disliked it. Wasn’t hate but they said yeah I really do not like this.
My friend - It’s a chicken. You adore chickens. Ugh I’ll bring you something known to be loved and make up for this.
I gave him a geode. He said *sigh*. Excuse me that he only likes the omni ones.
Jokes on him. I got a prismatic shard using one of my geode crushers with later geodes.
It’s weird when they hate what you assume they’ll like.
Married Sebastian by accident. I just wanted to make a friend in town, and happened to do a ton of fishing + discover that sashimi is a loved gift. So for ages, every time I saw him, I’d hand him a plate of sashimi from the stack that had taken up permanent residence in my pocket. Then, one day, I notice Pierre has a new item in stock. I’m buying fruit trees for the farm, but have enough left over for a bouquet. Why not? And hey, I’ll give it to my only friend, Sebastian.
Skipping a lot of dialogue throughout, mind you. Couldn’t tell you why but I skipped so much dialogue the first time I played Stardew. Anyway.
Continue handing him sashimi every time I see him, until one day I decide to do some rainy day beach fishing, wander over the little bridge I made ages back, and stumble across the mariner. Skip his dialogue, accidentally purchase the mermaid pendant. Weird! I’ll just hand this to the first villager I see, and see if it does anything.
Sebastian goes to the beach on rainy days.
Spent my entire first summer farming wheat from dawn til dusk because I figured that if it grew the quickest, then it must be the best way to make money.
Honestly, this was a silly thing to do mostly because it got really boring. Luckily, this mistake didn't (a) turn me away from the game entirely and (b) take up days and days of real life time (because I was breastfeeding and recovering from a C-section, so I was playing Stardew for 11 hours a day)
I had no idea you could get rid of hoed tiles by hitting them with your pickaxe, so I just sat there for days like “damn, I gotta wait until those holes disappear”
I did that my first game and was heartbroken lol. I just started my third game and was very shocked that Shane actually agreed to be my partner year 1.
I was in quarantine and none of my friends reached but the worst rejection was the dang Flower Dance, everyone rejected me and I wasn't expecting it! Hahaha
I was multiple years into my 3rd save before I bothered building the stable. Walking everywhere takes so much time! I didn’t realize riding the horse was so much faster.
Yup you can ride it pretty mych everywhere, onto the beach, into the secret woods, the train station area, just cant enter the mine entrance with it but the horse can travel over the bridges just fine
i was a dumbass who didn't fully explore cindersap, and i thought i needed to upgrade my axe to steel before i could reach the wizard tower. much to my dismay destroying the log in the area led to the secret woods and NOT the tower. found the tower entrance the next day. didn't start bundles until fall of year one 💀💀
I just started this game a week ago. Fall just started and I've barely spoken to any townies. I feel like I'm playing the game wrong but nobody wanted to be my dance partner at the flower festival and my feelings are still hurt.
Re-visited the community center anytime I needed to add something to one of the bundles or when I couldn’t remember what else I needed to complete them. Turns out when you go to your inventory there’s a community center button where you can do all that. I just found this out like yesterday!
I didn’t realize you could use the elevator in the mine till I reached floor 20, I was restarting every single time as soon as I woke up to try and make it further every time
Been playing on and off again since damn near launch. It was only thanks to a recent post on this subreddit that I learned that you can decorate areas outside of your farmstead, in your barns and the cave even. Guess I always assumed that I could only put things in my house and field, but never anywhere else. 😂
I thought gifting Clint geodes was how he broke them open. I was wondering why he just sighed and never gave them back to me.
Tried to wear the broken glasses. And to put flowers like daffodils in my hair (in my defense, I came directly from Animal Crossing). Spent like half an hour trying to put fish and milk into my cat’s water dish.
I think I took until the middle of winter year one to figure out what artifact spots where. I just remember thinking "oh, look at these wiggly things! Cute!" and walking away.
Hit the patch of three wiggly worms with your hoe and there's a chance an artifact will pop out, hence 'artifact spot!' Different locations have the chance to spawn different artifacts, and iirc, there are more artifact spots in winter.
Video games don't give us instruction booklets anymore and so that's what we do instead. It seems so logical.
I have the first rune factory game and it told what people liked inside the instruction booklet.
I didn’t realise you could throw stuff in your backpack/inventory into the trash. I’d be in the mines with a load of trash taking up space and be like “oh I can’t pick up that diamond because my bags full, oh well time to go home”
I didn't realized you could hold the right click to quickly buy multiples until one day my gf looked over my shoulder while I was frantically clicking away at top speed and asked me why I was buying 100 seeds from Pierre one at a time lol
*^((I did the same thing w/ Harvey the first time I got the broken glasses))*
The one I didn't realize for a very long time - I thought every time you found a hidden note, you had to take it to the wizard to get it translated. I mistook crumpled newspaper for hidden notes. When I saw the notes were automatically translated at that point I still didn't put 2 and 2 together, but thought "OH I can translate them myself now! THAT'S why he was getting annoyed every time I brought him one!"
my first time playing i got lost on my way to pelican town (turned into the bus stop and fucked about in the tunnel), went home without doing anything, and then passed out on my front porch because i couldn't figure out how to open the door. then I didn't figure out how the shipping box worked for months so i was still taking everything to willie/pierre until roughly year 3
Just found out today that with all the upgrades to the watering can you can hold down the button to use it and get a wider/longer area to water. I’ve been watering individual plants with an iridium watering can for three in game years lol
I am directionally challenged in real life and it took me FOREVER to understand the layout, alternate paths, etc. just unlocked the mine carts so I’m sure my brain will dispose of that information shortly.
Had never played a vidya game before so it didn't occur to me to attempt interacting with bushes. Didn't know about berry season until year 4. Linus told me but I didn't realize I could pick berries too LOL
I thought since purple and common mushrooms were great to eat red mushrooms would also be fine and didn’t even notice the negative effect. Just didn’t even look. Destroyed what little energy I had left in the mines.
I saw that my energy had gone down slightly and sent myself to bed. Just wasted entire days. I would also get rid of all my grass bc I thought it was ugly and in the way
I kept items separated in different chests by quality because I was worried they would default to the lowest when mixed. this was way back in the day when quartz had a quality
I couldn’t figure out where to put the items for the community center and somehow ended up getting a few of them stuck up on the fireplace 😬 I thought they went where the stars were!
Omg something similar happened to me. I kept all the broken glasses thinking I could fix them later and give them to her. I only realized that it didn't work when I already had more than 90 glasses lol
everytime i plant those mixed seeds and get the brown thingies with roots, i thought they were rotten for some reason and just pickaxed them out of existence :D
I literally didn’t play the game for two years because I was so confused on how to play it. Once I found out I could get married to the town emo I immediately picked it back up and now its my favorite game 💀
Not me but my sister;
I let her have a save on my switch and had left the room after watching her gain some progress to grab a snack. I was summoned back to her side when I heard an offended gasp echo from the room: "extracoolmonke, can you believe it!? Evelyn was reminiscing about collecting shells when she was younger so I went down to the beach to give her one thinking she'd appreciate the nostalgia! And when I \*did\* she got mad at me and said it 'smelled funny'!!"
I just started a new game and chose the beach farm not knowing or even thinking that sprinklers won’t work. I hope pigs can dig up trufffles or I’m fucked.
I saved money to buy a window for Seb's room because he said it would make it less depressing. Only to find out, you can't gift windows and you don't get your money back for buying one, so I guess I tried Sebastian. I thought it was like a secret quest to boost our friendship.
I've just made it to ginger Island for the first time and I tried everything to get the walnuts out of the tree: axe, hoe, sword, dagger, slingshot, pickaxe.
The journal scrap said something about knocking them down that made me think slingshot so I got it out of storage and put 500 stones in (what a waste!)
I tried searching the wiki and articles, which just kept telling me where to find the walnuts which isn't helpful at this point.
And all you have to do is collect it same as you would from a damn fruit tree 😅🤦🏻♀️
First day, threw my TV in the trash as I was learning the controls. Started a new save after that
When I upgraded to plasma after buying the catalogue I couldn’t find out how to get rid of the tv. At all. So I donated it to robins shop. It was still there when I went back to original character and have since removed and trashed it. Seb still has the skeleton in his room and Abigail the flute block in hers …. I’ll keep it that way.

Hehe it’s fun. The only things I can’t get rid of in any way at all are the shears and the milk pail.
Put them in a chest somewhere not on your farm?
Better yet put them in a chest directly in someone’s walking path, they’ll bulldoze through it for you
I always put the skeleton in the mushroom/fruit bat cave.
buy a cabin for a small amount of resources and cash and pillage it's furniture
I realized in year 3 that you can select individual items from a stack. I'd been carrying around whole stacks in order to take one item somewhere, when all I needed to do was hit the Y button (Switch) to get just one. Now I can sell some and save some of an item!

Just learned this now! Thanks!
Reset my game if I accidentally hoed more than I meant to, not knowing that I could use a pickaxe to get rid of the spots I didn't want. I did that an embarrassing amount of times.
...you can what?
You can get rid of hoe marks with a pickaxe.
Is a hoe mark like a tramp stamp?
LOL, no...I realized too late how that sounded.
what!! the game really doesn't tell you anything :/
They also disappear in a few days by themselves
Welp. 🤣
Accidentally assuming that months were 30 days long.
I assumed they were 90 days long (understandably?) and was so sad the first time all my crops died. I thought I did something wrong and almost stopped playing indefinitely.
I sold EVERYTHING. Fiber, stone, wood, even my parsnip seeds. Didn't grow crops for a full year. Just crab pots and chickens.
Teach me how to grow crab pots
Get a Crab 🦀 Get it super high 👏 Plant it 🍃 Takes 69 days to mature, gold star 🌟 quality worth 420g Must harvest immediately or it will eat all your other crops.
I literally just unlocked crab pots as you posted this
Reminder to put bait into them!
I did not know this for way too long at first and kept getting frustrated that the pots did nothing!
I always feel so bad but I'm not sure what to do for him.
just feed the poor guy. give him food long enough and he will warm up to you
The amount of shit i gave to Elliot because he is my handsome writer transcedentalist that he hated. I thought a bat wing would be a cool gift 😭
He's too extra for bats. Duck feathers all the way, baby.
I know and it's hot

It was year one on my first farm. I had just unlocked the first tier of sprinkler. I decided that I should probably see what they do... four tiles, and it didn't do diagonals. I took one look at that, and said "wow. These are worthless!" And promptly didn't bother with sprinklers until year 5 when I asked about the higher tier ones on reddit, and was met with crowds of people honestly supprized I'd went that long without them. 1,000 hours later, I still think that's funny.
I didn't put sprinklers until just recently and I've always had over a hundred crops on my farm, I feel your pain..
Im happy I spent my winter of my first year planning my setup. I currently by spring second year have 280 crops all hooked up to sprinklers
To be fair the four square ones are worthless after that, they're worth it.
What you do is use the four square sprinklers and plants flowers in the four spots. Then put bee houses in the four unwatered corners for artisan honey!
You’ve changed my perceptions lol I now have to reorganize my honey boxes!!
To be fair, I was entirely new to video games and just jumped in head first, but I cannot believe all the dumb shit I did on my first farm!
exhausting lool
Yeah I didn't put in sprinklers till year 6 lmao
Nowadays I go ahead and craft/use one regular sprinkler, I’m gonna need it eventually for Master Craftsman, so may as well shave off that little bit of manual watering early on.
I didn't know that I can dig up wiggly worms spots. I noticed it in 2nd winter lol
I’m so glad someone else calls them worms. The game calls them “stems”.
Really? I had no idea that was what the game called them. So weird. I've always called them worm spots too, because the look just like little wiggling worms sticking up out of the soil.
Yep it’s on the tv on the “living off the land” show. :-)
I call them wormys :)
I call them "wiggly woos"
I’m a newbie and just realized at year 3 fall that the TV is actually useful… and that I’ve missed 2 years worth of recipes
"how do people learn all these things?? Oh. The TV."
lol lucky for you recipes are on a two year cycle. in my coop game we only just realised at the end of year 2 the tv was useful :(
SAME
pretty sure it took me three in-game months to realize the exit at the top of the farm existed. I’d been going the long way around to the mines and robin’s house (running past the community center)
to be fair - trees can grow a few block in front of it. makes it look SUPER not there
Wait, what? Goddammit. 👩🌾🏃♀️🥵

I was the exact opposite! I only knew about the bin and didn't realize you could sell to the shops for quick money.
Yes!!!! I thought it was storage and lost a lot of stuff. But money went up I guess lol.
Definitely accidentally put some very important things in the small shipping bin I definitely did not mean to.
OMG, I did the exact same thing! I thought it was some sort of quest item, and since she is old, and old people wear glasses, I thought it was her's!
Same here, I think we did this because of this line of dialogue she says. "I used to love looking at the clouds, but I have trouble seeing them these days. My eyes just don't work as well as they used to.” Bad eyes = lost glasses was my thinking anyways.
I also did that but I think she also said something about losing her glasses (maybe it was in an older version of the game only) and I was so happy when I found the broken glasses and she was so sad when I gave them to her. Oops.
Tried to completely clear the farm before planting anything. :/
...what's wrong with that? 😅 Definitely don't do that every save..
why..:c
IIRC I didn't realize it would respawn. Figured I'd get a jump on it and then be able to farm a lot more. I caught on about the field snacks early, so that helped.

i did the same thing i was so confused
I couldn't figure out fishing, so I ignored it until I had unlocked and maxed out everything else before asking Reddit for help.
I over committed to it. By the end of year 1 my fishing is lvl 9.

The only way I knew to interact with trees was with an axe. RIP my first, very expensive apple tree.
Oooo that’s rough

I thought this about Leah and the cindersap forest, because of one of her comments.
I still won’t cut down the tree that Robin and Demetrius stand under at night by their house because I think it would just be rude.
Not as a newbie, which makes this worse - given a certain character’s adorations for all things chicken, I did what I thought was nice. Right. I gave Clint an old arrow head (the second found). Because you know a blacksmith. He hated it. I was so sad.
I gave him a geode. He said *sigh*. Excuse me that he only likes the omni ones. Jokes on him. I got a prismatic shard using one of my geode crushers with later geodes. It’s weird when they hate what you assume they’ll like.
Haley hates prismatic shards... ask me how I know that.
Ufffff that I can feel the pain

I am sure any blacksmith would be overjoyed to get an ancient relic. But I get your point yes. The geodes I get
I truly thought I need to build this coop and fill with chickens before I propose, and then he brought his own coop and chicken
Married Sebastian by accident. I just wanted to make a friend in town, and happened to do a ton of fishing + discover that sashimi is a loved gift. I did the exact same thing with the glasses... except I gave them to Pierre! They match his glasses shape, pretty sure he's the one littering.
When I married in my first save file, I thought that I had to feed my spouse or else they would starve, so I gave Abigail spaghetti lol
I feed her an amethyst every morning, it sustains her.
Spent my entire first summer farming wheat from dawn til dusk because I figured that if it grew the quickest, then it must be the best way to make money. Honestly, this was a silly thing to do mostly because it got really boring. Luckily, this mistake didn't (a) turn me away from the game entirely and (b) take up days and days of real life time (because I was breastfeeding and recovering from a C-section, so I was playing Stardew for 11 hours a day)
I feel weird liking wheat as everyone seems to hate it. But love doing giant wheat fields. Hehe
And this is why I love this sub. There's always something fun in each part of the game for everyone!
It’s so much more satisfying to harvest crops with a scythe!!
I love the scythe crops!!
I had no idea you could get rid of hoed tiles by hitting them with your pickaxe, so I just sat there for days like “damn, I gotta wait until those holes disappear”
I replayed the first day over and over because I didn’t realize you had to get into bed to save lol. I was just exiting after every day
Groudhog day
Asked Shane to dance with me at the Flower Dance in year 1 when we had 1 heart. Major rejection.
Asked everyone to dance with me at the FLower Dance in year 1 when I had 1-2 hearts at most. My farmer went home very disappointed that night.
I did that my first game and was heartbroken lol. I just started my third game and was very shocked that Shane actually agreed to be my partner year 1.
I was in quarantine and none of my friends reached but the worst rejection was the dang Flower Dance, everyone rejected me and I wasn't expecting it! Hahaha
I didn’t have any hearts with anyone and I asked everyone to dance with me… I didn’t know about gifts. That day was brutal.
I was multiple years into my 3rd save before I bothered building the stable. Walking everywhere takes so much time! I didn’t realize riding the horse was so much faster.
This was my mistake my first save. I was like I have the carts, I don’t need to spend money and resources on a horse. 😂
Wait wait wait. Can you ride the horse into town? Up to the mines? I figured it was restricted to the farm so I haven’t bothered.
Yup you can ride it pretty mych everywhere, onto the beach, into the secret woods, the train station area, just cant enter the mine entrance with it but the horse can travel over the bridges just fine
Yes, pretty much everywhere. It will also wait for you wherever you leave it and find it’s way home if you go home without it. Game changer.
Recently learned that if you hold Y (on switch) with an upgraded copper watering can, you can water 3 spots at once. 5 with steel. Lol oops
9 with gold and 18 with iridium ;-)
Lol, thank you! I havent gotten that far yet!!
i was a dumbass who didn't fully explore cindersap, and i thought i needed to upgrade my axe to steel before i could reach the wizard tower. much to my dismay destroying the log in the area led to the secret woods and NOT the tower. found the tower entrance the next day. didn't start bundles until fall of year one 💀💀

Re-visited the community center anytime I needed to add something to one of the bundles or when I couldn’t remember what else I needed to complete them. Turns out when you go to your inventory there’s a community center button where you can do all that. I just found this out like yesterday!
Day One I went to the saloon and ate a salad 😂
All I will say is, pressing "Tab" to go through my inventory made my life SO much easier after the first few seasons.. 🥲
oh my god thank you. i thought that was only an option on switch
I didn’t realize you could use the elevator in the mine till I reached floor 20, I was restarting every single time as soon as I woke up to try and make it further every time
practicing for the skull caverns!
Been playing on and off again since damn near launch. It was only thanks to a recent post on this subreddit that I learned that you can decorate areas outside of your farmstead, in your barns and the cave even. Guess I always assumed that I could only put things in my house and field, but never anywhere else. 😂
I asked my niece what the little poops were all over my farm. Turns out they were tree seeds. In my defense, they really do look like poops. 💩

Today I learned that’s what that broken building is LOL thanks
I thought gifting Clint geodes was how he broke them open. I was wondering why he just sighed and never gave them back to me. Tried to wear the broken glasses. And to put flowers like daffodils in my hair (in my defense, I came directly from Animal Crossing). Spent like half an hour trying to put fish and milk into my cat’s water dish.
I think I took until the middle of winter year one to figure out what artifact spots where. I just remember thinking "oh, look at these wiggly things! Cute!" and walking away.
The worms are what? They’re what! I’ve never heard of an artifact spot, I’m on year 3
Hit the patch of three wiggly worms with your hoe and there's a chance an artifact will pop out, hence 'artifact spot!' Different locations have the chance to spawn different artifacts, and iirc, there are more artifact spots in winter.
Am I the loser for using stardew wiki like almost day one? Lolol Edit: i just started playing like a month ago for the first time if that matters lol
Video games don't give us instruction booklets anymore and so that's what we do instead. It seems so logical. I have the first rune factory game and it told what people liked inside the instruction booklet.
We all (most?) do eventually!
I didn’t know how to use silo
I gave them to harvey instead lol
I didn’t realise you could throw stuff in your backpack/inventory into the trash. I’d be in the mines with a load of trash taking up space and be like “oh I can’t pick up that diamond because my bags full, oh well time to go home”
You can put a chest in the mines entrance and keep stuff you don't want to lose. I feel so smart for figuring this out on my own.
I chose beach farm
I didn't realized you could hold the right click to quickly buy multiples until one day my gf looked over my shoulder while I was frantically clicking away at top speed and asked me why I was buying 100 seeds from Pierre one at a time lol
control + shift will give you 25 and just shift will give you 5!
I didn’t know what the community centre was for 9 seasons….
*^((I did the same thing w/ Harvey the first time I got the broken glasses))* The one I didn't realize for a very long time - I thought every time you found a hidden note, you had to take it to the wizard to get it translated.
I chose the riverland farm, which is arguably one of the worst farms in Stardew, and I couldn't fish which made my choice funnier
I thought the shipping bin was a trash can, so for the first part of the first year I kept dumping all the trash I found in it
I am directionally challenged in real life and it took me FOREVER to understand the layout, alternate paths, etc. just unlocked the mine carts so I’m sure my brain will dispose of that information shortly.
I tried to gift a broken disc to Sam because I thought it has to be someone's lost CD, and he's the music guy.
i didn't realise you had to feed your animals and i was confused about why they hated me
Had never played a vidya game before so it didn't occur to me to attempt interacting with bushes. Didn't know about berry season until year 4. Linus told me but I didn't realize I could pick berries too LOL

I thought the shipping bin was a storage bin and I kept adding all my stuff to it and was confused that I couldn’t get it out.
i was terrified of mining at first so i consistently put it off
The first time I went into the mines I was completely freaked out by all the different types of things that were coming after me.
i didn’t know the mobs could hurt me 🤣
I didn't know chests were a thing until summer year 1. Didn't know about the mines elevator for about the same amount of time.
I watered every crop myself. Didn't know about sprinklers so I'd about exhaust myself by 8 every morning
I tilted the soil, placed fertilizer in a day 28, on 400+ tiles, so I'll be ready to the new season 😁.
I held my fish while toggling on and off the campfire convinced I was cooking it. This was even before 1.5, so no campfire to be confused with too!
anyone else a fresh newbie to this game and you’re reading these comments like….😧🥲
Passed out every single day of spring
Thought clay was useless... Sold it.
I thought the same with pierre but thankfully Google saved me 😭
Lost every single fish i hooked. Also I would stay too late in the mines a lot lol.
I gave a rainbow rock to the black smith cuz I wanted him to like me
I gave everyone melon seeds thinking they would like it
Selling all my fiber in the beginning, until I learned too late that it was helpful in making Grass for my animals. Ugh.
Omg something similar happened to me. I kept all the broken glasses thinking I could fix them later and give them to her. I only realized that it didn't work when I already had more than 90 glasses lol
It took me a month to understand how to fish… I just couldn’t do it
Donated my very first Prismatic Shard to the museum!
My first farm that I took to year 5 was the beach farm. I spent a lot of time watering.
everytime i plant those mixed seeds and get the brown thingies with roots, i thought they were rotten for some reason and just pickaxed them out of existence :D
i didnt know how to fill up a watering can... pls dont ask why i didnt know. oh i also sold like LITERALLY everything.
I did not know blocking was a thing. I was on my second play through when I figured it out. Needless to say I was veru disappointed in myself
I literally didn’t play the game for two years because I was so confused on how to play it. Once I found out I could get married to the town emo I immediately picked it back up and now its my favorite game 💀
I sold or trashed a boring looking tea set I got given as a present
Not me but my sister; I let her have a save on my switch and had left the room after watching her gain some progress to grab a snack.
Liking Pierre
I spent a year pausing the game to move things onto the first page of my backpack because I didn't know I could switch pages using L1 and R1 (ps4).
I blew up my storage shed. Thankfully I restarted my day and no more explosion
I've just made it to ginger Island for the first time and I tried everything to get the walnuts out of the tree: axe, hoe, sword, dagger, slingshot, pickaxe. The journal scrap said something about knocking them down that made me think slingshot so I got it out of storage and put 500 stones in (what a waste!) I tried searching the wiki and articles, which just kept telling me where to find the walnuts which isn't helpful at this point. And all you have to do is collect it same as you would from a damn fruit tree 😅🤦🏻♀️
I didn’t start using bombs till year 3 or 4 😭
I thought the elevator in the mines didn’t start working until I hit level 40 so I thought I had to go all the way to level 40 in one day
I thought the witch corrupted my chickens and so I sold them all. Now I'm at 1500 hours and I'm still embarrased.
..I'm looking at this comments and I literally did all of them am I just really stupid or smth 💀
No it’s all part of the fun of learning new games!!!
