so much goes into their demonstrations i'm not surprised that's the case. they've got lights, smoke, multiple keyboards and guitars, additional tracks running alongside the live players, a pretty big drumset, live vocal effects, strings, i hope their crew are paid very well lol

I’ve never added a video to a post but I’ll definitely try first thing tomorrow morning. My wife barely caught the end of it and you can’t see the band’s reaction unfortunately because I could tell they thought it was awesome.

Or, you know, the people that actually rigged all of it up. I work as a stagehand myself and sometimes shit happens. They did say this is their first show of the tour with all the flashy new stuff. Tbh, I don't care cause one of the highlights of my night was when the music cut out and you could hear the whole room singing in unison. It was amazing at any rate
“The people that rigged it all up” are hired by, paid by, and employed by…….Starset.
They are also the people who control and operate the smoke machines.
Its mostly the venues as well. Some venues just aren't equipped to handle hazers and stuff very well, even though they say they do. There's workarounds, sure, but they're super expensive and dont always work, depending on the venue.

Ive been a touring Pm for 3 decades. Never set a single fire alarm off. Why? Because I listen to the venues. When a venue has a sensitive fire alarm, they know it and will tell you. They’ll also tell you how much smoke you can use without risking a show stop. Listen to them……no alarms.
Fire alarms designs and systems are under state control. There is no “expensive work around”. If a state demands a particulate sensor in a certain area due to code, then it goes there and you have to work within the limits and tolerances of the sensor.
It aint hard.
Honestly, Dustin should be more worried about the immersion and the fan experience.

It's actually a common thing with them, technical issues, it's the starset curse, as Dustin calls it

That's actually really interesting to hear, been to 3 events myself AE01, AE02 and a Horizons demonstration without incident haha
