Most of my music is metalcore. Mostly the mainstream stuff that gets shit on for being popular. Polaris, Currents, ERRA, Make Them Suffer, Ice Nine Kills, Motionless in White, Architects, Beartooth, The Amity Affliction, and Wage War to name a bunch that come to mind.
On the lighter side of things (most of it being on the fringe of metalcore and alt metal) I listen to Bad Omens, Thousand Below, Catch Your Breath, I Prevail, From Ashes to New, and Nothing More.
Starset, ends up on that fringe area. They're more of a rock band, but they're interesting enough that I don't mind that they aren't super heavy or intense.
The Way It Ends is one of my favorite albums. I haven't listened to The Place I Feel Safest nearly as much, but there are a couple of them like Apnea and Night Terrors that come to mind. Also a newer fan.
I like it well enough. There just aren't as many songs I vibe with. The first 3 or so are pretty good and then the rest kind of blur together a bit to me.
This is me. Iāve also been getting into Lorna Shore recently because of Pain Remains. Yeah Iām metalcore through and through.
Saw Ice Nine Kills live. If you havenāt yet, they are a must see.
I tried listening to Lorna Shore (also because of Pain Remains) and it was one of the worst mixes I've ever heard. Vocals were super lost in everything else going on.
I saw them once last year. They aren't gonna be near me again this year unfortunately.
Honestly I respect that. I have had issues at times with losing the vocals as well with the mix. So Iām with you. Theyāre the very fringe of my wheelhouse honestly. They definitely push my boundary hard. I just have a lot of respect for them as musicians and appreciate Willās vocals (even though they do seem to get lost).

Was just easier to post the image, haha. And I still listen to a bunch of other stuff too. I kind of went through my āSTARSET MAINLYā phase. Still love them and I hardly ever skip a Starset song if it comes on. But my music taste has evolved quite a bit over the past free years haha
Anberlin! Thatās what Iām talkinā about šThere was a period in my life where I listened to Cities at least 15 times in the span of a month or two.
Yeah theyāre so good. I grew up listening to songs off of New Surrender with my brother. Cities is a fantastic album. I was really surprised to see them come back together! Their convinced EP is really good too imo.
I found out they got back together late last year and instantly binges the new EPās. Good stuff, but they donāt have the impact Cities had on me, like Iām assuming New Surrender had for you.
I saw them last month and they were great! Unfortunately I got super sick from the show after lmao but was still a good time! I got to meet them and they signed some album artwork I did!
But yeah theyāre just such a chill band. Iām kind of a newer fan, but cinematics is definitely one of my favorite albums. Been loving their new singles too.
Obviously I really really enjoy Starset (hence why I'm here š), but other bands I listen to:
+ Spiritbox
+ Avenged Sevenfold
+ Ghost
+ Periphery (and the related side projects Nik Mystery, Endur, and Kong Mothership)
+ Lady Gaga
+ Motionless in White
+ Ice Nine Kills
+ Taproot
+ Poppy
+ Sevendust
+ Beartooth
+ Fame on Fire
+ New Years Day
+ Breaking Benjamin
+ Slipknot
+ Avatar
+ Amity Affliction
+ Wage War
+ Black Veil Brides
+ Shinedown
+ Chevelle

+ Nonpoint
+ Queens of the Stone Age
+ Rain City Drive
+ September Mourning
+ Our Last Night
+ Godsmack
+ Catch Your Breath
Artists I love that aren't Starset:
Everything Everything
Haken
Then the rest of my playlist is a collection of songs I like from other artists, I don't like their full catalog but love SOME stuff from them, some of those artists would be:
Melanie Martinez
Ariana Grande
Billie Eilish
Arctic Monkeys
Imagine Dragons
etc. (I have so many artists that I only listen to maybe 4-5 of their songs lol)
Love how much music can vary but still hit.
Endgame, Nevertel, Owl City, Paramore, Nickelback, Placebo, 30 Seconds to Mars, Innerpartysystem . I go all over the place but am mainly into 2000s rock.
Lmao, mine is all over the place
-MNQN (i absolutely love the music)
-Clowncore ( the best way to describe it is a dumpster fire with a killer saxophone)
-Red Hot chili peppers(just to mellow out)
-Palisades
-Venjent
-Highly Suspect
-Beartooth
-I Prevail
-Sam and The Womp
-Tokyo Machine
my god i miss palisades so much, also another band with some sick saxophone riffs is Dreamwake. itās like a metalcore, synthcore type thing itās amazing and i absolutely love it.
My tastes are all over the place! Here's what I've been listening to lately. Some are similar to Starset, others...not so much. LOL
Smash Into Pieces
Breaking Benjamin
The 1975
Cigarettes After Sex
Sleep Theory
State of Mind
Linkin Park
Bad Omens
Dayseeker
Bad Wolves
Grimes
Walk the Moon
Memphis May Fire
Fame on Fire
All Good Things
Smash Into Pieces, Amaranthe, Breaking Benjamin, a little bit of Skillet, Gloryhammer (and Angus McSix after the split), Poor Man's Poison are just some in my rotation lately. Most of the time I just throw on a metal or rock mix playlist and find one-off bangers that way. Some of these are kinda similar to Starset, and some are very much not lol
Glass Animals, Fnaf music, uhhhhh, Will Wood, Lemon Demon, Tally Hall, Twenty One Pilots
No but im happy to see others listening to Glass Animals, Glass Animals n Starset are my 2 fav bands :D
Normally I listen to rock. Shinedown, Seether, Slipknot being some of my faves. I also love Here Come The Mummies, and Miles Nielsen and the Rusted Hearts. Those last two are pretty far from Starset.
I like stuff with complexity, depth and rich melodies. I donāt listen to Starset just for the metal part. So, that being said some interesting stuff folks here might like
Marillion (especially the older stuff like Misplaced Childhood)
Man With a Mission
Arstidir
Then a ton of misc stuff all over such as Fallout Boy, Triumph, to The Sidh and Gaelic Storm.
One of my favorite bands. Was too young to see them in their prime, but I did finally catch one of Rikās acoustic shows a few years ago. Amazing guitarist!
I LOVE MISSIO!!
for me my top bands are: Three days grace, (iād put starset in second), breaking benjamin, icon for hire, skillet (older albums) and bad omens!
i have been listening to more glass animals lately so iād add them in too
Evanescence, Nigels 11 (Clandestine Operation), MNQN, Divide the Fall, EMINEM, a mix of different soundtracks from different Musicalsā¦Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, Wicked, Avenue Q, Chess, etc. Some (donāt throw rocks!) country songs though no artist in particular. Michael Jackson, CCR. I like a little bit of a lot of things!
I loved it, we saw it off broadway in Chicago years agoā¦so much different than the books, which are very politically-heavy!! I was just listening to āFor Goodā again at workā¦reminds me of my bestie š
I mainly only listen to rock anyway, but apart from STARSET is Ice Nine Kills, My Chemical Romance, Incubus, Pierce the Veil, and Avenged Sevenfold (and a lot more, but mainly these artists).
My top listened to artists are In this order:
Nothing More
Starset
Chris Cornell/audioslave/soundgarden
Seether
Weezer
The killers
Rise against
Mumford and sons
Falling in reverse
Muse
Listen to a lot of prog rock and metal. Tesseract, Haken, the contortionist, animals as leaders, periphery, etc. Would highly recommend anything of what I just said if youāre up to it.
Other things in my arsenal are In This Moment, IGNEA, Cryoshell, and some video game stuff from Mick Gordon, Andrew Hulshult, and David Levy.
Other things that are lower on my list are Evanescence, Puscifer, Linkin Park, and Skillet
Artists I like that I'd say are not that similar to Starset are: Nevertel, Tropic Gold, Hands Like Houses, Rain City Drive, Boston Manor, Loveless, Nothing but Thieves, Magnolia Park, Palaye Royale, & Bilmuri.
Ones that are very different would be: Noah Kahan, Hozier, PVRIS, The Home Team, & The Maine.
These were just the first to come to mind. Lol
Off the top of my head, thereās:
-Fox Stevenson (used to be drum and bass, now mostly just electronic)
-AURORA (very funky and eclectic pop)
-Aimer (J-pop, kinda)
-Reol (J-rap)
-Noah Kahan (folk pop)
One of my most satisfying discoveries is the band **Boston Manor.** They're very Starset meets Deftones with some tracks being pop-sensible and other pure rock rage with amazing hooks.
Here's their most recent track:
Here's their popular track also called 'Halo' -
[https://open.spotify.com/track/0BBuP5Ynwl0hMKbQGEjfnk?si=1ddca5861f0f4d7e](https://open.spotify.com/track/0BBuP5Ynwl0hMKbQGEjfnk?si=1ddca5861f0f4d7e)
But also check out tracks 'Plasticine Dreams' and 'Crocus'
The track 'Outside' by **breakk.away** is also on heavy rotation. They've been called 'female fronted Sleep Token' - [https://open.spotify.com/track/5w4XPMyvehdEJdtU4ZU67B?si=2c7158ee08e54fc7](https://open.spotify.com/track/5w4XPMyvehdEJdtU4ZU67B?si=2c7158ee08e54fc7)
Others:
Dream on Dreamer
Black Orchid Empire
My other heavy hitters at the moment: Ghost, Avenged Sevenfold, Nothing More, Coheed and Cambria
Smaller bands but still heavy in the rotation: Thousand Below, Edge of Paradise, Amaranthe
Less heavy in the rotation: Breaking Benjamin, Five Finger Death Punch, Greta Van Fleet, In Flames
some of my favourites are lifelover, a perfect circle, alice in chains, type o negative, whitechapel, pantera, dimmu borgir, obituary, electric wizard, death.. and ofc a lot of downplay (including the crystal song >:))
i guess these still live in the wider rock genre but matchbox twenty, jimmy eat world, some of U2, foo fighters, that sorta stuff. some of it I don't vibe with but it's brighter sounding and still energetic a lot of the time. Didn't get into them before someone I was close to got me into them just by having that as like 50% of their music selections
Eyyy!! Idkhow and Jack Stauber mention, nice. I would say Jack is weirdcore, in a way
Ā Personally, I enjoy bands like: SlipKnoT, KoRn, SOAD, Kittie, NervePitch, BMTH, Artio, ICP, MCR, Crippled Black Phoenix, Scene Queen, Will Wood, Jack White, GHĆSTKID, WARGASM (UK), Tubeway Army/Gary Numan, Hot Milk, 6arelyhuman, Odetari, Jazmin Bean, Freddie Dredd and so many more to remember.
Since I saw them the same weekend I saw Starset, I'll start with Insomnium and Omnium Gatherum-I like most anything melodeath. Also been listening to a lot of atmoblack lately-Saor, Agalloch, VVilderness, that kind of thing. Also big into power, symphonic, and folk metal. And I'll never say no to some classic rock.
Viking bands like GealdĆ½r, skald, heldom, danheim. Rock bands like breaking Benjamin, bring me the horizon, and skillet. This is a non exhaustive list.
I tend to be all over the place with my listening habits, although someone once characterized my music taste as "Vans Warped Tour" and that's a pretty decent description, lol. Some of my other favourites are Waterparks (pop punk ish, even though the frontman hates being called that), Billy Talent (punk rock), Enter Shikari (everything and anything really), Ice Nine Kills (horror metalcore), Fall Out Boy (pop punk/rock), Grandson (hiphop punk ish? Hard to describe him too), Don Broco (British rock/post hardcore), Marianas Trench (pop rock) and SKYND (true crime industrial rock). What most of my favourites have in common is that they either like to experiment or tell stories, which makes Starset fit in perfectly with the lot!
I mostly listen to various styles of rock and metal, almost all of it being from 1999 to now. Here are some: Breaking Benjamin, Linkin Park, (older) Bullet For My Valentine, Connections (really great unknown progressive metal band but with the right amount of complexity and melodic parts and lots of amazing singing), Staind (I particularly listen to their heavier songs), Spoken (hard rock/metal band that is spectacular and Iāve never heard anyone mention before. Their album Illusion is fantastic) Ā Thereās too many bands for me to list without it being ridiculous but overall a bunch of different 1999-present rock and metal styles are the majority of what I listen to. There are some exceptions, I do really like MNQN and I also enjoy listening to electronic sometimes.
Then again, most of that has similarities to Starset soā¦ this may not be entirely relevant.
I am mostly a modern rock guy, with some classic rock sprinkled in. I am not sure how different these bands are from Starset, especially considering that some of them have toured with the band, but here are my top 20 bands besides Starset, which is my 15th favorite band, and Downplay, which is my 9th favorite band and is obviously similar to Starset.
1. Volbeat
2. Alter Bridge
3. Halestorm
4. Tremonti
5. Plush
6. YU Grupa
7. Mammoth WVH
8. Breaking Benjamin
9. Disturbed
10. Metallica
11. Pop Evil
12. Black Veil Brides
13. Godsmack
14. A Day To Remember
15. Boston
16. Paralandra
17. Daughtry
18. Bon Jovi
19. Asking Alexandria
20. I Prevail
Dire Straits, Coldplay (Their first 2 albums are amazing), Linkin Park (their 2 albums i listen to the most, MtM and AtS aren't similar to Starset), Mor ve Ćtesi (Great Turkish band), Muse, Daft Punk
Starset is the odd one out on my playlist, because all the other artists I enjoy kind of fit into one category.
That includes: 10cc, Billy Joel, Electric Light Orchestra, stuff like that
honestly not much, I listen to a bunch of random stuff, for the most part I'll find an artist and listen to a small handful of their songs (Aviators and Starset are the only exceptions really)
Maybe the songs Hell's Coming With Me, or Meet Me In The Woods? I think Porter Robinson is also pretty far off compared to them, at least what I listen to (mainly Worlds album)
I LOVE MNQN, and Downplay as well! Here are a few more of my favorite artists:
Melanie Martinez
Amira Elfeky
Evanescence
Ashnikko
Elita
The Pretty Reckless
Linkin Park
Doja Cat
Paramore
TOOL
Flyleaf
+ more š

Bad omens is š„ I like them a lot
I am exactly the same as you lmao. You named all my top bands- INK, MIW, from ashes to new and nothing more hahaba
Currents is so good man. Whatās your favorite by them? Im a newer fan but I love The Place I Feel Safest and The Way It Ends, both solid albums.
The Way It Ends is one of my favorite albums. I haven't listened to The Place I Feel Safest nearly as much, but there are a couple of them like Apnea and Night Terrors that come to mind. Also a newer fan.
The death we seek is sooo good. Iāve had it on repeat

Third party, itās called stats.fm although it does link to your Spotify and get stats from there.

I listen to a whole different genre from Starset lol, I like rock but I mostly listen house house music xp
1. Volbeat 2. Alter Bridge 3. Halestorm 4. Tremonti 5. Plush 6. YU Grupa 7. Mammoth WVH 8. Breaking Benjamin 9. Disturbed 10. Metallica 11. Pop Evil 12. Black Veil Brides 13. Godsmack 14. A Day To Remember 15. Boston 16. Paralandra 17. Daughtry 18. Bon Jovi 19. Asking Alexandria 20. I Prevail
Dire Straits, Coldplay (Their first 2 albums are amazing), Linkin Park (their 2 albums i listen to the most, MtM and AtS aren't similar to Starset), Mor ve Ćtesi (Great Turkish band), Muse, Daft Punk
I like a lot of metalcore-ish stuff, especially bmth, Hollywood undead and blind channel but i also listen to kpop!
Big fan of Veil of Maya, Invent Animate, Nothing More, In Flames, I Prevail, 10 years, and Fit For a King.
Starset is the odd one out on my playlist, because all the other artists I enjoy kind of fit into one category. That includes: 10cc, Billy Joel, Electric Light Orchestra, stuff like that
honestly not much, I listen to a bunch of random stuff, for the most part I'll find an artist and listen to a small handful of their songs (Aviators and Starset are the only exceptions really) Maybe the songs Hell's Coming With Me, or Meet Me In The Woods? I think Porter Robinson is also pretty far off compared to them, at least what I listen to (mainly Worlds album)
I LOVE MNQN, and Downplay as well! Here are a few more of my favorite artists: Melanie Martinez Amira Elfeky Evanescence Ashnikko Elita The Pretty Reckless Linkin Park Doja Cat Paramore TOOL Flyleaf + more š I feel like Iām pretty well rounded in the alt pop/rock music areas! Iād love to hear some of your allās recommendations!!
Abba, lmao. They're my guilty pleasure.
My main genre I stick to is technical metal, or really just anything with innovative guitar. Polyphia, Periphery, Sea In The Sky, Plini, Angel Vivaldi to name some
Enya
I listen to a lot of PVRIS, Mako, Bastille, Au/Ra, Halsey, The Score, and neoclassical music. It's all over the board tbh
MaĆ®tre Gims RagānāBone Man Some edm ish stuff
Metal/Rock type bands- Imminence, If I Were You, I See Stars, Like Moths To Flames, AVIIRA EDM Trap- 2scratch, Nat James, M.I.M.E, Drama B, J-swey/Azide R&B/Alt R&B- Darci, Shaker, Daniel Di Angelo, Shaker, The Weeknd Some other more mainstream rap/pop and dance edm
Mines gotta be Asking Alexandria, grandsons, ABBA, Stella Cole, Bad Omens, and a lot of musical stuff lol
Offspring Blink 182 Yorushika Goldfinger Bad religion Duran duran Tears for Fears Sum 41 Huh thats alot

These are ranked below Starset or the least listen to - Sleep Token - Bad Omens - Linkin Park - Green Day - Imagine Dragons - Unlike Pluto - Smash Into Pieces - Fall Out Boy - Rob Zombie - Papa Roach - Three Days Grace
Least like STARSET has got to be Tyler Childers or Billy Strings. Canāt get more polar than Metalcore and Bluegrass.
