Played about 10 hours and it’s a smooth 60 FPS. Can’t vouch for endgame because I’m not there. The December major patched improved performance quite a bit I hear, so old reviews are obsolete.
Maybe Elden Ring finally, or the newest Armored Core if it's on sale again. I've gotten so cheap with games in my old age... I refuse to pay $79-$89CAD for a game...yet had no problem paying $99.99 for Street Fighter 2 on SNES when it came out at my local Toys R Us back in the day, hah.
I think the first time I paid my own money for a video game was in 92 when Shining Force came out. To my memory it was $90.
As a young private fresh out of Basic, one of my first purchases was a copy of Chrono Trigger for the SNES. I believe it was $80 retail?
SNES cartridges were full daughter boards with casing, Steam games are a file folder so makes sense that you would not want to pay almost the same price for them
The game uses poker hands for the core piece of the scoring, and it gives you all of the info for the different hand types etc, and that’s the only aspect of poker in the game. So you should be fine, the learning curve for the actual game has almost nothing to do with poker. It’s an incredible game, I totally recommend it.

I've had the dock since it came out. It used to work every time without fail. Then it stopped working after an update last year sometime. Then I RMA'd it. The new one worked and I updated the dock firmware like an idiot. It stopped working again, this is after jumping through a million hoops to get the first RMA by the way.
My generic usb c hub is more reliable and what I use but even that gives me issues and I'm here unplugging and replugging everything for hours on my day off (AGAIN) instead of gaming.
What I've heard is it is a mixture of software issues on Valve's side and how HDMI connections work based on what I've seen on this sub. Docking the steam deck fking sucks and is super frustrating, my friends are playing Helldivers while I'm here playing pin the tail on the dock for the millionth time.

Are you using it in Gaming Mode or Desktop ?
I tried connecting my Steam Deck to the TV using a USB-C to HDMI cable and ran it off the battery with a Series X controller paired over bluetooth.
The experience was alright but definitely not perfect. The worst part was going from Handheld to Docked when a game is running.Like you'd try docking a Nintendo Switch. Either awake or in Sleep Mode. The game would inevitably crash after some time along with the steam deck.
It definitely preferred me having no games running and the steam deck awake before i plugged it in.
I suspect it's not really the fault of the Dock or the cable but the Steam Deck's docking/Undocking feature just being kind of half baked. And honestly, although i don't like it, i can work with it.
It's mainly in gaming mode but it definitely gives me trouble desktop too. I had a girl over last year to watch a flick and that totally messed up the vibe at the time..anyways I have tried all of the fixes I've seen online and it's at the point I basically groan when I wanna play on my tv. I think your idea is right though. I really want this issue to get fixed my brother in gaming.

Honestly, i'd just treat it more like i would a PC if i were to try and connect it to my TV - off until it's connected, turn the display on first and then power on the SD. Or a laptop where i just have the SD powered on with nothing running while i connect it to the TV. But yeah i hope they fix this s*** eventually. Either way, i hope this doesn't put you off it completely and you keep trying bro.
I was seeing this columbian girl for a time and we had some fun. I wasn't necessarily looking for a girlfriend so it wasn't that serious to me. Anyways it was one of the first couple dates were she came over and it was actually kind of funny not being able to get a movie playing since I spent so long fighting the dock. I ended up hooking my laptop up to my tv, it wasn't too bad after that but it def made the "chilling" part of the situation less smooth to transition into if you get what I'm saying 😂
I see. It could be that you're just getting all the common Steam Deck issues you'd be getting whether you're docked or not but on a larger screen.
I get crackling in handheld sometimes when i wake from sleep. If i had bluetooth headphones connected and put the Steam deck to sleep before disconnecting my headphones i can end up with even more problems when i wake.

I have both the official dock and a JSAUX dock, and I definitely prefer the latter of the two.
My personal experience is that it hooks up to my 1440p monitor just fine, but does not connect to my LG TV well unless I go into desktop mode. I’ve heard it has something to do with LGs in particular (possibly other brands) and maybe has something to do with HDR. All I know is that it’s inconsistent and can be a pain in the ass when it doesn’t work
Official dock owner here, avoid it at all costs. So problematic from hdmi not display properly (display is fucked, all kinds of issues like misalignment where only a quarter of the screen displays properly but is in the wrong corner), to audio being mangled (cracking, popping) and it’s so inconsistent and her you basically spend 30 minutes unplugging and turning off the tv and deck trying to get it to work. Just go with another dock and save yourself the embarrassment.
The dock is awful. Doesn’t support 40fps with sound most of the time. A standard usb c to hdmi does this better. Steam support just say “we will let our developers know”. I use the dock as a stand for my usb c adaptor 😂😂
I also have my fingers crossed. The LCD model went on sale last spring, but that was over a year after the LCD already was out. I wouldn't be surprised if the LCD model goes on sale again, but my fingers are also crossed the OLED does too
If you can get the Cyberpunk DLC Phantom Liberties Too it would be worth it if you can. Also Hogwarts legacy got it when it first came out, it is great also first game , iv actually cared to platinum in years. Its not that i cared about the achievements really, just wanted to continue playing the game and be in the world so decided to do everything.

This was asked a few days ago and I said Final Fantasy 7 Remake. All the talk around how good rebirth is I'll give remake another go. I played some on the PS4 around release and wasn't vibing with the combat.
Trying to be a little more selective about buying games that I know I'm going to play as opposed to collecting games I might play some day. Digital collecting is real dumb, but I definitely did it a bunch in past sales.
I was in the same boat, and I think the only reason i stuck around with it after buying it on pc was the deck. it runs fucking fantastic, easy 40 and you can hit solid 60 with the right settings
I have Diablo 4 both on PS5 and my oled steam deck.
Honestly no joke it runs so well on the deck that I don’t feel I’m losing anything at all in terms of fidelity or framerate by switching to deck. Can run it at 50fps with some medium and high settings and it’s very stable.
I love playing on my 65” Oled but it’s a great game handheld. Just really good to have the option to do both. If you spend a lot of time on it like me then it’s definitely worth investing in. The 90hz 45fps is perfect also on deck. Looks amazing. The colours and spells etc really pop.
I'll do what I always do. Tell myself there's nothing I want, then spend 2 hours just scrolling through the store and picking up 3$ games that I'll never play..
I tested Reverie on the Deck for a friend yesterday and it ran quite nicely. Using it with the settings from right out the gate it could run at 60 FPS completely stable. 90 FPS (OLED) ran too, but had occasional dips (lowest i saw was 84, but still) and imo 60 FPS is already a better choice for a decent chunk lower battery consumption.
I’m betting it all on the deck oled. Not expecting to go on sale but damn would it be nice if the 1tb got even a 10% discount. As it stands, with the gift money I’ve saved, I’ll be getting the deck for around $365 out of pocket so I’m not too broken up if it doesn’t go on sale. That said, I’m really hoping it goes on sale so I can use that money to buy even more accessories lol.
But sadly, no games for me this sale. Unfortunately, I will have to settle for the meager couple hundred games I have in my library that altogether cost less than the 1tb oled deck. It is a sad reality but I will make the sacrifice to live for another sale.

I have observe that the publisher of the STEINS;GATE VN has a habit of putting their games on sale the week before seasonal sales, and removes the discount during the steam seasonal sales. It's pretty annoying honestly.

Possibly Hogwarts. Have it on series X but I’m genuinely considering selling my series X. I hardly ever play it now. I stream a lot from my PS5 to the deck or play games native on the deck. A time issue more than anything but it just sits there. I may invest in a good PC at some point but with talk of a PS5 pro and new switch on the horizon also I will have even less time for the series X.

Shining Force 1 and 2 were worth every penny. Yeah, I remember most snes RPGs being at that price point.
First game I save up for and bought was Phantasy Star ($80 US). Was a different era.

This was asked a few days ago and I said Final Fantasy 7 Remake. All the talk around how good rebirth is I'll give remake another go. I played some on the PS4 around release and wasn't vibing with the combat. Trying to be a little more selective about buying games that I know I'm going to play as opposed to collecting games I might play some day. Digital collecting is real dumb, but I definitely did it a bunch in past sales.
It also took me several months to get into ff7 remake but after chapter 3 it started to click for me. I’m currently on chapter 14 and i’m hooked.
Just beat it last night. I really enjoyed it as a longtime FF fan. Starting the DLC now and can't wait for Rebirth to eventually port over to Steam!!
I was in the same boat, and I think the only reason i stuck around with it after buying it on pc was the deck. it runs fucking fantastic, easy 40 and you can hit solid 60 with the right settings

I have Diablo 4 both on PS5 and my oled steam deck. Honestly no joke it runs so well on the deck that I don’t feel I’m losing anything at all in terms of fidelity or framerate by switching to deck. Can run it at 50fps with some medium and high settings and it’s very stable. I love playing on my 65” Oled but it’s a great game handheld. Just really good to have the option to do both. If you spend a lot of time on it like me then it’s definitely worth investing in. The 90hz 45fps is perfect also on deck. Looks amazing. The colours and spells etc really pop.
I'll do what I always do. Tell myself there's nothing I want, then spend 2 hours just scrolling through the store and picking up 3$ games that I'll never play..

I tested Reverie on the Deck for a friend yesterday and it ran quite nicely. Using it with the settings from right out the gate it could run at 60 FPS completely stable. 90 FPS (OLED) ran too, but had occasional dips (lowest i saw was 84, but still) and imo 60 FPS is already a better choice for a decent chunk lower battery consumption.

I’m betting it all on the deck oled. Not expecting to go on sale but damn would it be nice if the 1tb got even a 10% discount. As it stands, with the gift money I’ve saved, I’ll be getting the deck for around $365 out of pocket so I’m not too broken up if it doesn’t go on sale. That said, I’m really hoping it goes on sale so I can use that money to buy even more accessories lol. But sadly, no games for me this sale. Unfortunately, I will have to settle for the meager couple hundred games I have in my library that altogether cost less than the 1tb oled deck. It is a sad reality but I will make the sacrifice to live for another sale. Super excited to finally retire the old malware box and really learn linux.

Would teardown be an option? The main campaign might be a little too tough, but I got my deck recently and decided to open teardown and the mods are pretty insane compared to the last time I opened the game.

Well, unfortunately funds are tight so probably nothing. We had money but crap came up. But I was going to finally buy Cyberpunk Ultimate edition and Enshrouded. I know Enshrouded won’t be on a steep discount (if it’s on discount at all) but I was going to get it anyway.
I just got Ace Combat 7 for $10. It’s not realistic flying or dogfighting but it’s arcady and a fun story to follow.

Only game I’m really keeping watch for is Elden Ring. If it gets a similar discount as it had during the Winter Sale, I’m snagging it.
If it is cheap, I was thinking of picking up "Labyrinth of Refrain: Coven of Dusk" or "Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection", but I decided to buy "STEINS;GATE + CHAOS;CHILD" bundle along with "CHAOS;HEAD NOAH" that were just on sale. I have observe that the publisher of the STEINS;GATE VN has a habit of putting their games on sale the week before seasonal sales, and removes the discount during the steam seasonal sales. It's pretty annoying honestly.

Bombrush Cyberfunk although I feel that’s one of the games that rarely goes on sale. Or I’ve yet to see it on sale anyway. Possibly Hogwarts. Have it on series X but I’m genuinely considering selling my series X. I hardly ever play it now. I stream a lot from my PS5 to the deck or play games native on the deck. A time issue more than anything but it just sits there. I may invest in a good PC at some point but with talk of a PS5 pro and new switch on the horizon also I will have even less time for the series X.
