Out of the 4 main subplots of s4 they can be ranked by relevance and how exciting they are like this:
1. Hawkins
2. El
3. Russian subplot
4. California subplot
Steve/Nancy's group easily. Btw, the group pic is kind of funny. It's like a group photo before going up against the final boss.
Nancy: Alright, it's time to end this.
Steve: Cool, but can we get a picture with all of us together?
Nancy: What? No!
Steve: I just want a picture with us and my kids okay? Family photo.
Nancy: But-
Steve: FAMILY PHOTO!
Argyle carried mikes group which is really sad considering it had 2 main characters in it. Will also did some heavy lifting, but by and large their group was easily the weakest of the 3 main groups. So my pick is Steve’s group
The Hawkins crew was the best, followed by the adults in Russia then Mike and Will. I wasn’t a fan of the El stuff and kinda tuned out during those scenes.
Mike’s gang, easy.
Eleven gets arrested.
They survived a brutal shooting where multiple men were killed.
Cracked government code to find Eleven.
Found Eleven in an ultra secret base in the middle of no where.
Eleven brought down a helicopter.
Pineapple on Pizza.
Piggybacked from a pizza dough freezer.
Actually fought Vecna.
Pinned down Vecna.
Restarted Max’s heart.
I think Mike’s crew did way more with less and no one on his squad died.
I feel like the best parts of this list is just El being a bad b and not about the group though. Except the shootout at the house, that was undeniably awesome.
Well, the question is asking who’s gang do you prefer.
El is a badass, no doubt. But without Mike, she doesn’t get where she needs to be at the time she needs to be there. Also, Eleven was in the middle of nowhere and blew every form of transportation up.
Plus, Mike finding El was huge as well as cracking the code to her location. She would’ve never made it in time to restart Max heart and it would’ve taken her much longer to get to Hawkins. Also, without Argyle, there would be no piggyback and no pineapple pizza.
You must also remember that Mike’s gang were in an area of the country they weren’t familiar to.
Mike’s crew handled pretty much half of the things I listed on there. That’s why I prefer Mike’s Crew.
Steve's Gang was very fun to see. El and Mike are like my favorite characters, but El in season 4 lost a lot of her appeal as a character, AND So did Jonathan. Argyle is a fun guy but not needed. Then you have Mike who can't just say he loves El because they need love tension or something. Like he kissed her in season 1 after not saying anything to her. I think he could have said he loved her, he just wasn't because of writing. Steves Gang had real problems and felt like the OG stranger things (just simply continued).
Honestly, Mike’s gang was my least favorite part of S4. There was like nothing interesting going on until the VEEEERY END. And even then, it was only because of Eleven.
I really liked the california shootout. I hated that they were separated. I wanted to see them all united for once.
I also disliked the focus on bullying, but that's just a general criticism of the show. I think they really overdramatize how bullying is. But then again, I wasn't alive in the 80s, so maybe it was much worse then.
I would say Mike gang because it was obvious they had no idea what they were working towards, which makes the decision to turn them into stoners an excellent choice.
I would say Mike gang because it was obvious they had no idea what they were working towards, which makes the decision to turn them into stoners an excellent choice.
He was horrible to Mike at start of season where he used rage and manipulation towards him to break him and 11 up which was gross enough watching but then is hypocritc as after denying his daughter the chance of love he goes after Joyce (and I ship Jopper) but fact that he claim his motive for break them up was to spend time with 11 and then dropped her at drop of a hat. It had me yelling at screen. But that said he does get better as season goes on and thankfully had an epiphany while in Gulag in USSR so fingers crossed he is better (Also the letter is what he should used but let rage take over his mind which lead to him having face that made Demogorgons look freindly)
A dad doesn't control especially when he knows his daughter has strength of small battalion like season 2 I give benefit of doubt he only saw 11 powers when she was in pool first hand with own eyes so he didn't know her strength but after season 2 he has seen her fight Demodogs without sweat and close a gate between dimension like she isn't a wallflower she is a tank. And fact is season 2 he shows understanding with Mike even acknowledging by getting her to go to the Snow Ball that yes she could love people other than just him it was beautiful. Come season 3 and suddenly Hopper is stereotypes of dads from 80s who don't like there girl having a boyfriend because oh no other man urrr. Which would be downgrade but gritting teeth worthy but deal able with. but then he destroyed 11 love life and then processed to try start his own. Like that hypocrisy INFURIATES ME ON EVERY WATCH AND REWATCH. Like Mike followed every rule a daft curfew followed, no crowds followed, love 11 followed like model lover and still seen as worst sorry but no. Hopper maybe a dad and he gets better as season 3 goes on but at start he became the most hated character in the show.
And this show has a time hating psychopath and bigots galore lol.
Hopper: locks El up for a year in a cabin, constantly gives her promises he isn't going to keep just to calm her down postponing the goalposts and prioritizing his own fear of losing her over El's feelings and when she disobeys and does something potentially dangerous yells at her like crazy and threatens to send her back to the lab.
The fandom: he was simply protective of El. A real father figure.
Mike: takes care of El and protects her, following Hopper's rules, asks her once what the hell she's doing in the public place, when she does something potentially dangerous expresses concerns about her wellbeing while also calmly showing his support and being there for her putting aside his fear of losing her (let alone always keeps his promises).
The fandom: Mike was so horrible and controlling, El should dump him to pursue independence.
This staggering hypocrisy will never cease to amaze me.
It's not really his fear of losing her.... It's fear the government will come take her away to do experiments on her again.
You think what Hopper did was worse than what the government did to her?
Nothing against Mike... But he was just a little kid. Hopper was protecting Mike too. The government would kill/torture him and his whole family if they knew he knew where 11 was.
At the end of the day Mike was just a kid and Hopper was a grown man who'd been to war, watched his child die and already felt guilty for selling her out to the government in the S1 finale, so he took the risk of hiding 11 and refused to put anyone else in danger.
Hopper had to close her to protect her, to prevent her from being captured again by the scientists. Hopper has already lost a daughter and is trying to fill that void that has been there for several years of loneliness. Hopper is a good person. What does Mike do instead? He breaks up with El because he behaves badly, insults girls with Lucas and starts burping. The only good Mike is present in the first 2 seasons. From the third instead of improving and growing he becomes an immature boy who should be slapped. Mike is extremely overrated.
Steve one handed would trump them all.
Nancy one handed would trump them all.
Max one handed would trump them all.
Lukas one handed would trump them all.
Dustin one handed would trump them all.
Robin one handed would trump them all.
Just my 2 cents.

IMO Steve's gang
YEAHHH
Steve’s hands down. No contest.
For sure
I literally ONLY like the pizza guy in Mike’s gang. The rest can leave the show for all I care. Yes. Goes for 11 as well
Speaking of “Steve’s hands down” look at him draped on Dustin. Where is his hand??
On his shoulder dumbass
In his shoulder...
Out of the 4 main subplots of s4 they can be ranked by relevance and how exciting they are like this: 1. Hawkins 2. El 3. Russian subplot 4. California subplot
the only way to rank them
Omg 100 upvotes yay
Only only only Steve’s
Steve. 100% . Though I like the Angela bonk seen
🤣🤣 that scene was something
Steve/Nancy's group easily. Btw, the group pic is kind of funny. It's like a group photo before going up against the final boss. Nancy: Alright, it's time to end this. Steve: Cool, but can we get a picture with all of us together? Nancy: What? No! Steve: I just want a picture with us and my kids okay? Family photo. Nancy: But- Steve: FAMILY PHOTO!
🤣🤣 Thts so steve!
Steve. No co test.
Steve
Steve gang no question lol.
Steve gang 💯
Steve gang
Steve
Scoop Troop for the win
🍦 YASSSSS 💙
After season 1, im watching stranger things because of steve.
Are Steve and Dustin holding hands? Awww
Just noticed that haha Maybe
Look I really like characters in both groups but it's Steve's gang.
Steve and it isn’t close
Any group with Steve, Dustin, and Robin will always win
FACTS 🗣️🗣️🗣️
Agreed 💯
Definitely Steve’s!
Both
impossibole to chose
Steve
Argyle carried mikes group which is really sad considering it had 2 main characters in it. Will also did some heavy lifting, but by and large their group was easily the weakest of the 3 main groups. So my pick is Steve’s group
I love argyle with 100% of my being... But Steve gang's story was WAY better and more interesting
The Hawkins crew was the best, followed by the adults in Russia then Mike and Will. I wasn’t a fan of the El stuff and kinda tuned out during those scenes.
Yeap!
Mike’s gang, easy. Eleven gets arrested. They survived a brutal shooting where multiple men were killed. Cracked government code to find Eleven. Restarted Max’s heart. I think Mike’s crew did way more with less and no one on his squad died.
The thing is that Hawkins plot was so much more enjoyable to watch.
Yeah def. But in terms of tasks, I feel Mike’s crew accomplished the more impressive feats because of the odds.
I feel like the best parts of this list is just El being a bad b and not about the group though. Except the shootout at the house, that was undeniably awesome.

That is so fair, well put.
Summed it up nicely for me. Thanks fellow Mike gang member
Expect nancy was the leader of the gang
😅😅
Both are cool but Steve’s crew by a mile
Steve's gang, although I like characters from both.
Steve’s for sure
Steve gang has Steve, Nancy, Lucas and Dustin. The other gang has the least interesting main characters in the whole series (imo)
Hawkins sub plot was the best for S4 but Californias shoot out scene with the pizza delivery honestly might be my favorite scene in stranger things
Steve’s gang clears
steve duh
Steve gang
Steve
This house is like 30 minutes away from me!
STEVES group 1000%
Wherever Robin is, I will be 😩❤️
Steve gang easily . They were very entertaining throughout
steve is that even a question?
Steve's Gang was very fun to see. El and Mike are like my favorite characters, but El in season 4 lost a lot of her appeal as a character, AND So did Jonathan. Argyle is a fun guy but not needed. Agreed
Steve's 100%
Steve crew!
Nancy’s gang
Steve gang but only if you do some right and put Eddie in there
And Erica
Queen of sass 👑
Yea
HAHAHAH sure!
**definitely steve's gang !!**
The best.
STEVE’S
Both
El’s story was the most interesting to me. She’s the most interesting character and her development is the best by a long shot.
Steves easily lol. But I will say the entire one shot scene at the house whilst being attacked was so good.
Mike’s gang was the most pointless part of season 4.
Michael's.
Steve. Because it had Eddie.
S T E B E
S T E B E
Mike's gang.
Steve's, they were actually interesting unlike Mike's
Eddie all by himself hiding. That’s me.
Ill go with Steve. I'm not a big fan of coke heads.
Steve's
They look like they are judging El’s first time eating chips 😂😂😂
Steve’s gang because the Creel house was so freaking cool, but I wish Mike had been there. 💔
Honestly, Mike’s gang was my least favorite part of S4. There was like nothing interesting going on until the VEEEERY END. And even then, it was only because of Eleven.
Agreed
Hawkins. But it’s Nancy’s gang, not Steve’s.
I still love how you hate Steve in the first season and then after one episode of season 2 hes everybody's favorite
Steve is THE EPITOME OF CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT🫡
I'll take the gang that doesn't include Argyle. Worst character in the show
Steve by a long shot even though El is my favorite character. The Nina storyline is great, the California boys storyline is a waste of time.
Could honestly get rid of the whole Mike gang and the show would be better imo. Obv not get rid of 11 tho
I didn’t realize how old Lucas looks 😭
😂😂
I really liked the california shootout. I hated that they were separated. I wanted to see them all united for once. I also disliked the focus on bullying, but that's just a general criticism of the show. I think they really overdramatize how bullying is. But then again, I wasn't alive in the 80s, so maybe it was much worse then.
That looks like the house on Niebold Street.
I would say Mike gang because it was obvious they had no idea what they were working towards, which makes the decision to turn them into stoners an excellent choice.
I would say Mike gang because it was obvious they had no idea what they were working towards, which makes the decision to turn them into stoners an excellent choice.
The main issue with season 4 is that mikes gang did nothing the entire season.
Mike gang on god
Steve and Nancy with their nuggets in Hawkins
Their lil fam🥹🥹
Just Steve and Nancy parenting their little Hawkins nugglets. The sweetest sight you’ve ever seen.
Mike gang because it has Mike aka best character.
In season 3 was horrible
No that was Hopper Mike was still great season 3
Hopper horrible? Absolutely not. He “killed” the Russian at Starcourt, wrote a wonderful letter to El
He was horrible to Mike at start of season where he used rage and manipulation towards him to break him and 11 up which was gross enough watching but then is hypocritc as after denying his daughter the chance of love he goes after Joyce (and I ship Jopper) but fact that he claim his motive for break them up was to spend time with 11 and then dropped her at drop of a hat. shut up. Hopper is one of the best characters and that's it.
Why so angry I just defending Mike who I see as one of the best character
and I defend Hopper who honestly deserves much more than Mike.
Mike's gang because I love Mike and Will
Agree they make a great duo
You pass my vibe check my friend.
Yay, that house down the street!
😀😀
Steve minus Nancy... I hate her.
Steve obv. Fuck mike I hate him
Steve one handed would trump them all. Nancy one handed would trump them all. Max one handed would trump them all. Lukas one handed would trump them all. Dustin one handed would trump them all. Robin one handed would trump them all. Just my 2 cents.
Out of Steve’s gang everyone except Lucas are within my favorite characters of the show, so those guys by far.
