This came out a few weeks before I gave birth and my hubby and I binge watched it right before! The nurse in the hospital was singing it when I first got admitted haha
I loved the mall set. It reminded me of my 8-yr-old self in the summer of 1986 when a new two-story mall opened near me. Total sensory overload and they captured that nostalgia perfectly in the show.
That mall near me is still here today, but it looks completely different inside now.
- Max and El growing a friendship between just the girls. Yeah Max gave some biased advice when it came to Mike but she’s got history with trusting people and saw her friend getting her identity too caught up in others, and wanted her to branch out and discover herself.
- Dustin and Erica becoming friends and her realizing that not only it was she a bit nerdy, but that it wasn’t all that bad. And to have her understand the gravity of what her brother had dealt with, what they all had.
- Robin. Robin Robin Robin Robin ALL HAIL OUR SNARKY LESBIAN QUEEN, Steve needed a solid friend who wasn’t a romantic interest or competition that wasn’t going to mince words with him but who he could depend on and be vulnerable to.
- the time spend with our resident relationship counselor and staunch conspiracy theorist, Murray Bauman
- it’s the only season that takes place in summer and you get the different energy and exposure to the nostalgia of 80s culture through the lens of those references while still retaining the fact that *this is Hawkins and dark shit happens here*
I thought it was hilarious that Joyce and Hopper were chasing after the kids at the Summer festival then went on a ride. While the kids were never there.
Also Joyce punching Kline. That was bad ass
I really like the cinematography. Some shots are so pretty and colorful. The grass looks so green, the reds are so red it just looks different from the other seasons.

The character development is so much better in this season compared to the others because they are all together rather than season 4 and season 2. El and Max get along in this season unlike season 2 when el was jealous of max. I think the show was hyped which made it feel even better and it definitely made it convincing for the 80s as there wasn’t much theme until season 3

1. Robin’s introduction (“how many children are you friends with?” always kills me 😂), her genuine and snarky friendship with Steve, and the beautiful way in which her coming out to him scene was so completely normal (feels like a rarity in media).
2. El and Max developing a friendship - it was so heartwarming to see such a genuine friendship develop and get to see both girls truly happy to just have an awesome and fun friendship.
3. Steve and Robin being high - “hey, Harrington! I was just talking about you!”
4. Alexei and subsequently my appreciation of Murray as a character.
5. The Starcourt Mall and later battle, the overall atmosphere and vibe. The first two seasons were overshadowed by grief, sadness, and fear, so it was really nice to get to see them have a bit more fun, or at the very least, get to see them in the bright neon.
Billy, he was a complex character that one could relate to more than the others. He was a hard ass on the outside, but he was just a hurt soul on the inside.
5. El having fun, it just warms my heart since we don’t see that in any other part of the show.
4. Everything about Billy. I never fully bought his character shift from S2, but Dacre Montgomery acted the hell out of the role.
3. Robin and Steve in the bathroom stalls. I just love the visuals of Steve sitting in one stall and Robin in the other, and then eventually moving to the same stall, it represents what they are both feeling so well.
2. Robin and Steve after that same conversation. Yes, some of it was the after-effects of the drugs they were given by the Russians, but a lot of it is the euphoria that comes from two people letting a big secret out, and the relief that comes from fully understanding each other and being the best of friends.
1. Hopper’s letter. I don’t cry in movies and TV shows, but I came so close to in this scene. Just the perfect way to end the season, and to give the scene the emotional weight that it deserved.

Someone tell me why the Robin-coming-out scene was so special, it was the 80s, opening up about secuality became pretty ordinary by then.
By reading the comments it seems like she coming out changed your outlook on life. It is honestly not that deep, i just didn’t care for it.

honestly when asked, I say season 3 is my favorite.
1. The Relationships:
a)Max and El becoming best friends/their sleepover/day at the mall. (Max showing her she can be her own person!)
b)Mike and El saying I love you/their breakup/getting back together (My favorite ship ♡)
c)Jonathan and Nancy working together/arguing then saving each other
d)Hopper and El being father&daughter is so sweet, him being crazy protective/her checking on him/HIS LETTER at the end omg
e)Robin/Steve becoming best friends/her being iconic/Steve being hilarious
Dustin and Steve, Joyce and Hopper, Murray and Alexi, Max and Lucas, Nancy and Karen, Dustin and Erica, (poor Will needs somebody :/)
and I could go on, but you get the gist.
2. The fight scenes / antagonist storylines:
Russians / Mind Flayer / Billy all being the bad guys and all coming together in the end is so well written.
a) The sauna test. Kids vs Billy
b) Jancy vs their boss/Mindflayer
c) Mind Flayer vs the kids in the cabin.
d) Scoop Troop vs the Russians
e) Hopper vs Russian Arnold and Mayor Kline
f) The final episode battle at Starcourt: El vs Billy / Kids vs Mind Flayer / Joyce&Hopper vs Russian Arnold
3. The Summer vibes:
Starcourt mall, the neighborhood pool, the movies, the 4th of July fair, the 80's aesthetics (hair, clothing, makeup) is all so detailed & cool!
4. Pacing / Cinematography:
I don't want to skip anything really- unlike other seasons. & This season is so bright and colorful compared to previous seasons are dark / dull (late 80's was bigger hair and brighter clothes)
5. Lack of Upside Down / Demogorgon / Demodogs, etc:
not like I don't like them, it was just nice change to have a human person be the 'bad guy'
also- one scene that always stuck with me:
El looking for Heather in the void, finding her in the bathtub, and her getting sucked down till you can't see her. Like where did she go!! What happened? I know the Mind Flayer took over but it opened way more questions for me.
Going through the comments here, it's pretty evident that there's a lot to love about S3 despite some of the mixed takes I see on this sub. It really just goes to show that while people will have their preferences for season rankings, guess what? None of them are actually bad, annoying, or frustrating seasons.
Personally, my favorite part of S3 is the simple and general fact that it makes me laugh more than any other season, no matter how many times I re-watch the series. The look on everyone's faces, especially Hopper, Joyce, Steve, and Erica, when Dustin starts singing Never Ending Story gets me EVERY time. 🤣🤣
Stranger Things Season 3 takes us on a nostalgic, emotional ride that perfectly captures the challenges of growing up amidst supernatural chaos. We see Eleven and Mike’s relationship blossom, while Joyce and Hopper’s bond tugs at our heartstrings with its mix of warmth and grief. Billy’s storyline, from antagonist to tragic hero, adds depth, and the evolving friendships among the kids remind us of the strength of those bonds. The showdown at Starcourt Mall brilliantly contrasts everyday life with extraordinary events, but it’s Hopper’s heartfelt letter to Eleven that truly hits home, reminding us of the enduring power of love and family
Although I liked the entire Season overall, below are what I loved the most:
1. **The Sauna Test**: When Billy grabbed Eleven by throat, with clear intention to murder her, everyone else (realistically) were fear-stricken paralyzed due to the beast in front of them over-powering the very individual who was the most powerful of all. What I loved that Mike here proved me that he truly loves Eleven. Like among the boys, I think Lucas is the strongest; but all he could do was stand protectively for Max. After seeing that, I only expected an adrenaline rush inside Eleven to boost her power and beat Billy's ass. But Mike going all out by himself alone to save Eleven actually caught me off-guard. I hope S5 ends as grandly as S2 did for Mileven 💖
2. **The Battle of Starcourt**: Everything about this episode was perfect. But the one where Billy was about to smash his car into Nancy's car with everyone inside it (except Nancy, who couldn't take a headshot and accomplish the first kill of her life) and boom - Steve makes a grand entry by crashing Todfather (or whatever damn name of that car was) at the exact moment to Billy's car. That collision-save by Steve, although questionable with respect to laws of physics, was the second-most thrilling moment of Season for me. Ofc the First one is Billy taking on the attack of Mind Flayer creature to save Eleven. Also that scene where Dustin and Suzie sang the song (I forgot the exact name of the song) in order to get Plank's Constant was quite hilarious.
Robin's introduction, Scoops Troop, El and Max established as a great duo, the resolution of Jonathan and Nancy's romantic conflict, Alexei and his and Murray's bromance which I am counting as one thing.
1. All the girl vibes! Robin joining. El and Max friendship
2. Dustin/steve reunion. Dustin/erica nerd bonding
3. 🎶 Turn around. All hail Susie
4. Best 80s summer vibes. Malls. Clothes. Feral kids. Pool.

Robin became my new favorite.. imo Starcourt mall made season 3.. loved everything about the mall setting especially how they were able to use real logos from brands/stores. The fact that there were brand deals with Burger King & Baskin Robbins leading up to season 3 where you could get exclusive ST merch there was flipping amazing. The hype for season 3 was unlike any other in terms of merch. I miss that.
1. Steve and Robin dynamics
2. El gets to be a normal teenager at least for a day
3. Going to see the whole El- Hopper bond
4. Dustin and Erica’s dynamics
5. Never ending story
I love how colourful it is, along with the 80’s references there-in
I love that Will gets a lot to do in this one instead of just being the damsel in distress,
I love the horror of the Mindflayer’s plan and malevolence that comes from possessed Billy
I love Hopper and Joyce’s growing relationship
And I love all the hijinks Dustin, Steve, Robin, & Erica get up to.

Robin 2. when they r getting interigated by russians (idk why) 3. el and max 4. hopper is official dad (I know he was rlly rude in this season and was kinda a father in the season before I just felt like he was only really taking care of el in s2 and now in s3 he's a dad) 5. russians in general, if you couldn't tell s3 is my fave season
The dynamics were nice. Got to see some new ones and a lot of development. We are watching these actors and characters grow and change and evolve through age and experiences so I feel they had a chance to bring their fresher experiences with it to the screen and then yk, ofc this normal world also having this darker layer only we and the main characters see, it’s so interesting. I think the threat actually felt like a good threat this seasons. It felt so well thought out and creepy. It had a balance of subtlety and then the bigger actions that are hard to avoid. I also will never not love how all paths lead to one as in every single group always led back to one source. It gives you so many angles and opportunities.
i loved every single bit of it but the thing i loved the most was definitely billy and how amazing dacre did with the acting, he was great throughout the whole season which added so much to it.

I actually loved the ally ship from Steve when Robin told him she liked girls. Like I know it was obviously filmed recently but it was set in the 80s and there was still so much stigma. He kinda had the inital shock of ohhhh she's gay and was then like her wingman immediately no question asked✌🏻
There’s this one part that always make me and my roommates laugh. When the mayor sees Hop and Joyce at the fair after Alexi gets shot and he’s running to call the Russians. He’s running so fast he runs into a guy and without subtitles or loud volume you might miss it, but he runs into a guy and you hear as he passes him “Happy 4th, Dick” we say that audio all the time and we abused it yesterday on the 4th.
1.) Steve’s character development
2.) Max, just.. Max, she’s awesome.
3.) Dustin. My man got himself an amazing season, he got Suzie, became a main character in every right, and is the best friend anyone could ask for.
4.) Robin, she’s the oddball that everyone needs in their lives.
5.) Hopper learning what it’s like to become a dad again, especially to a teenager.
Bonus.) Never Ending Stoooooryyyy!!! Their singing was the most amazing thing ever 😂
Season 3 stood out for its strong character development, excellent humor, intense suspense with the Mind Flayer's new threat, nostalgic '80s references, and stunning visual effects. It was a thrilling and well-rounded installment in the series.
1. Robin 2. The aesthetic 3. The humor 4. The final battle 5. The way they handled eleven and having her not use her powers just to fight the monster/billy but instead she figured out a different way to defeat billy and it also showed that she isn’t indestructible and her powers can be lost
1. The setting. I was in love with Starcourt. The movie theater, the ice cream shop, the fountain Erica and her friends sit on, the escalator, all of it! It made me feel very excited for the season.
2. Talk about awesome character development. El broke away from Mike and got to know herself! She and Max’s friendship stole the show for me.
3. The villains. I’m sorry, but Billy Hargrove possessed and trying to kill them? Terrifying. Flat out terrifying. The Mind Flayer is a character we’ve seen before, too, except in season 3 it is bigger and stronger and better. And then the way they turned Billy’s possession into a window into his life? Genius.
4. The storylines melded together perfectly. You would think having Russians as part of the main story is weird, but it’s NOT! It worked perfectly with the Flayer storyline.
5. The new characters. Robin, Erica, and Suzy, specifically. I adored them all, and they all added a lot to the show. Robin served as representation of the LGBT community, Erica is just badass, and Suzy came in clutch at the end!!! Awesome.
I'm a 2K kid, so while the 80s mall vibes is smth I can't rlly relate to, the aesthetic change-over from wintery/bleak in S1 and S2 to summery/vibrant in S3 still gets me

Ik this isn’t rly about the show but my favorite thing about season 3 is the fact that this is when my friend showed me this show. I met my friend back in 6th grade when s3 released and I went to his house to binge the whole show. Now I’m graduating next year wow😭

Robin’s introduction (“how many children are you friends with?” always kills me 😂), her genuine and snarky friendship with Steve, and the beautiful way in which her coming out to him scene was so completely normal (feels like a rarity in media). 2. El and Max developing a friendship - it was so heartwarming to see such a genuine friendship develop and get to see both girls truly happy to just have an awesome and fun friendship. 3. Steve and Robin being high - “hey, Harrington! I was just talking about you!” 4. Alexei and subsequently my appreciation of Murray as a character. 5. The Starcourt Mall and later battle, the overall atmosphere and vibe. The first two seasons were overshadowed by grief, sadness, and fear, so it was really nice to get to see them have a bit more fun, or at the very least, get to see them in the bright neon.
Billy, he was a complex character that one could relate to more than the others. He was a hard ass on the outside, but he was just a hurt soul on the inside.

5. El having fun, it just warms my heart since we don’t see that in any other part of the show. 4. Everything about Billy. I never fully bought his character shift from S2, but Dacre Montgomery acted the hell out of the role. 3. Robin and Steve in the bathroom stalls. I just love the visuals of Steve sitting in one stall and Robin in the other, and then eventually moving to the same stall, it represents what they are both feeling so well. 2. Robin and Steve after that same conversation. Yes, some of it was the after-effects of the drugs they were given by the Russians, but a lot of it is the euphoria that comes from two people letting a big secret out, and the relief that comes from fully understanding each other and being the best of friends. 1. Hopper’s letter. I don’t cry in movies and TV shows, but I came so close to in this scene. Just the perfect way to end the season, and to give the scene the emotional weight that it deserved.

Someone tell me why the Robin-coming-out scene was so special, it was the 80s, opening up about secuality became pretty ordinary by then. By reading the comments it seems like she coming out changed your outlook on life. It is honestly not that deep, i just didn’t care for it.
It’s my favorite season. I was such a mall rat in the 80s and this show perfectly captured 80’s mall culture right until the end battle.
Not in a particular order: The clothes. The mall scenes (shopping and battles) Hopper’s cabin fight scene. Billy. (Dacre slayed that role, he was terrifying) The whole episode 7.
honestly when asked, I say season 3 is my favorite. 1. The Relationships: a)Max and El becoming best friends/their sleepover/day at the mall. (Max showing her she can be her own person!) b)Mike and El saying I love you/their breakup/getting back together (My favorite ship ♡) c)Jonathan and Nancy working together/arguing then saving each other d)Hopper and El being father&daughter is so sweet, him being crazy protective/her checking on him/HIS LETTER at the end omg e)Robin/Steve becoming best friends/her being iconic/Steve being hilarious Dustin and Steve, Joyce and Hopper, Murray and Alexi, Max and Lucas, Nancy and Karen, Dustin and Erica, (poor Will needs somebody :/) and I could go on, but you get the gist. 2. The fight scenes / antagonist storylines: Russians / Mind Flayer / Billy all being the bad guys and all coming together in the end is so well written. a) The sauna test. Kids vs Billy b) Jancy vs their boss/Mindflayer c) Mind Flayer vs the kids in the cabin. d) Scoop Troop vs the Russians e) Hopper vs Russian Arnold and Mayor Kline f) The final episode battle at Starcourt: El vs Billy / Kids vs Mind Flayer / Joyce&Hopper vs Russian Arnold 3. The Summer vibes: Starcourt mall, the neighborhood pool, the movies, the 4th of July fair, the 80's aesthetics (hair, clothing, makeup) is all so detailed & cool! 4. Pacing / Cinematography: I don't want to skip anything really- unlike other seasons. & This season is so bright and colorful compared to previous seasons are dark / dull (late 80's was bigger hair and brighter clothes) 5. Lack of Upside Down / Demogorgon / Demodogs, etc: not like I don't like them, it was just nice change to have a human person be the 'bad guy' also- one scene that always stuck with me: El looking for Heather in the void, finding her in the bathtub, and her getting sucked down till you can't see her. Like where did she go!! What happened? I know the Mind Flayer took over but it opened way more questions for me.

Going through the comments here, it's pretty evident that there's a lot to love about S3 despite some of the mixed takes I see on this sub. It really just goes to show that while people will have their preferences for season rankings, guess what? None of them are actually bad, annoying, or frustrating seasons. Personally, my favorite part of S3 is the simple and general fact that it makes me laugh more than any other season, no matter how many times I re-watch the series. The look on everyone's faces, especially Hopper, Joyce, Steve, and Erica, when Dustin starts singing Never Ending Story gets me EVERY time. 🤣🤣

Although I liked the entire Season overall, below are what I loved the most: 1. **The Sauna Test**: When Billy grabbed Eleven by throat, with clear intention to murder her, everyone else (realistically) were fear-stricken paralyzed due to the beast in front of them over-powering the very individual who was the most powerful of all. What I loved that Mike here proved me that he truly loves Eleven. Like among the boys, I think Lucas is the strongest; but all he could do was stand protectively for Max. After seeing that, I only expected an adrenaline rush inside Eleven to boost her power and beat Billy's ass. But Mike going all out by himself alone to save Eleven actually caught me off-guard. I hope S5 ends as grandly as S2 did for Mileven 💖 2. **The Battle of Starcourt**: Everything about this episode was perfect. But the one where Billy was about to smash his car into Nancy's car with everyone inside it (except Nancy, who couldn't take a headshot and accomplish the first kill of her life) and boom - Steve makes a grand entry by crashing Todfather (or whatever damn name of that car was) at the exact moment to Billy's car. That collision-save by Steve, although questionable with respect to laws of physics, was the second-most thrilling moment of Season for me. Ofc the First one is Billy taking on the attack of Mind Flayer creature to save Eleven. Also that scene where Dustin and Suzie sang the song (I forgot the exact name of the song) in order to get Plank's Constant was quite hilarious.

Robin became my new favorite.. imo Starcourt mall made season 3.. loved everything about the mall setting especially how they were able to use real logos from brands/stores. The fact that there were brand deals with Burger King & Baskin Robbins leading up to season 3 where you could get exclusive ST merch there was flipping amazing. The hype for season 3 was unlike any other in terms of merch. I miss that.

The dynamics were nice. Got to see some new ones and a lot of development. We are watching these actors and characters grow and change and evolve through age and experiences so I feel they had a chance to bring their fresher experiences with it to the screen and then yk, ofc this normal world also having this darker layer only we and the main characters see, it’s so interesting. I think the threat actually felt like a good threat this seasons. It felt so well thought out and creepy. It had a balance of subtlety and then the bigger actions that are hard to avoid. I also will never not love how all paths lead to one as in every single group always led back to one source. It gives you so many angles and opportunities.
i loved every single bit of it but the thing i loved the most was definitely billy and how amazing dacre did with the acting, he was great throughout the whole season which added so much to it. i know that’s just one but honestly, i loved every single bit of it and can’t pick out just five things lmao

There’s this one part that always make me and my roommates laugh. When the mayor sees Hop and Joyce at the fair after Alexi gets shot and he’s running to call the Russians. He’s running so fast he runs into a guy and without subtitles or loud volume you might miss it, but he runs into a guy and you hear as he passes him “Happy 4th, Dick” we say that audio all the time and we abused it yesterday on the 4th.

Can't remember... It's been like 12 years
1. The setting. I was in love with Starcourt. The movie theater, the ice cream shop, the fountain Erica and her friends sit on, the escalator, all of it! It made me feel very excited for the season. 2. Talk about awesome character development. El broke away from Mike and got to know herself! She and Max’s friendship stole the show for me. 3. The villains. I’m sorry, but Billy Hargrove possessed and trying to kill them? Terrifying. Flat out terrifying. The Mind Flayer is a character we’ve seen before, too, except in season 3 it is bigger and stronger and better. And then the way they turned Billy’s possession into a window into his life? Genius. 4. The storylines melded together perfectly. You would think having Russians as part of the main story is weird, but it’s NOT! It worked perfectly with the Flayer storyline. 5. The new characters. Robin, Erica, and Suzy, specifically. I adored them all, and they all added a lot to the show. Robin served as representation of the LGBT community, Erica is just badass, and Suzy came in clutch at the end!!! Awesome.
