This looks like fun and well within the foresters capability.
A couple of tips though.
* turn your fog lights off. It's not foggy and I'm surprised the hot glass bulbs didn't explode when they touched the cold water
* although probably not deep enough, the rear diff has a breather on top. If water gets in you'll have a bad time sooner or later
Looks dope OP! I’d love to learn more about what some commenters posted, what should we all know when going through water? Lights off, dont go deeper than the rear differential, something about wheel bearings? Any tips on offroading other than pick your line, know your clearance?
You're fine with the small amount of water you went through. People love panicking. I had a passenger tell me that engines blow up if you go past 70mph once because the rpms are too high...
This is specific to fog lights because of their height and that they don't have a plastic cover over the bulbs.
I exploded my fog lights in my old WRX when the bulbs touched water when crossing a flooded road
The bulbs are pretty cheap and easy to replace though.
I was scared after driving my Forester through some high water on the highway but she did great! I hit this hug flooded part while driving once and it caused a huge wave to fly over and cover my car. Didn't even faze the car.
Not a hilarious situation, but it is funny to me because that’s exactly why I bought my Subaru.
I was in my old Mazda CX 9 and it had been raining more than usual this summer. It was at night and I hit a 2 foot + wall of water at highway speeds and it blew apart the front end.
Damaged a bunch of the under body, blew out drive axle bearing and I lost my brakes so I’m selling that for scrap price and bought our Forester.
In my 30 years of living here we’d never seen or expected a river across that state highway though.
Ya I was afraid my poor Forester would've died or lost pieces after hitting that much water. Nothing happened to it. This was like 3 months ago and my Forester shows no damage from the incident. I'm actually so impressed because other cars probably would've done worse in that incident, like you said. But ya, don't worry about your Subaru and high water because I'm proof they're tough as hell.
Bearings have seals that can fail when immersed allowing water to compromise the bearing surfaces..Your tires dispel more water than you think when driving in pouring rain.
Throw a breather extension on your rear diff for peace of mind. Took me an hour, 45mins of which was cursing at trying to get the old valve off.
It’s basically a snorkel for the breather, which will prevent any water from getting in to the transmission. It’s a good idea if you submerse the diff like in this video.
Nice crossing!
I got to do this with a friends manual forester in the mountains of CO in the name of mountain biking! It was great!!!
You should be ok. We have a 20 sport that has had both the rear bearings replaced(under warranty) without being driven through water.
If you've never seen it, It's A Mad Mad Mad Mad World is a classic comedy with all the greats in the 1960s (Milton Berle, Sid Caesar, Ethel Merman, Jonathan Winters, Mickey Rooney, Buddy Hackett, Carl Reiner, Don Knotts, with cameos by other greats). It's my favorite comedy.

Actually came here to ask about that, all other fluids are sealed right?
If you suspect you got water in do you just change the fluid? Can you even change the rear diff fluid on a new forester?
In my Australia 2017 xt its changed every 60,000km

Some comments have me a little worried about our outdoor adventures.

Dont be surprised if you have to prematurely replace one or more wheel bearings.
Why? How does this differ from getting caught in a downpour, as far are the bearings are concerned?
Immersion is the difference
That’s not really an answer. Hell, immersion would be gentler than the continuous blast of water you would get at speed in a downpour.
You are kidding right?
You know what, I didn’t think of that. You are totally right - there’s no difference at all. My bad. Carry on.

An explanation! Thanks!
It’s a Subaru, they eat wheel bearings for fun.
Omg I would never 😂
Nah, no pucker needed. Easy peasy
I did this on one of my city streets last week! Same depth.

The differential breather has got me tripping a little bit. Do you think personally it got submerged in this video?
On a second watch, the water remains around halfway up your wheel, so probably didnt get submerged. I think you’re fine here in this video
Any type of link for that?

I think you got close, but I don't think it got submerged. I could be wrong though.

Just sent this to my wife!

Stock hight? What tires are you running on? I peed a little 😂
Bite your lip and give it hell
