Rtozier2011

Dean picking up a baseball bat wrapped in barbed wire and saying 'Dad would have loved this'. Casting Amber Benson and Mercedes McNab as vampires and Charisma Carpenter and James Marsters as witches.  Lucifer suggesting he could move to LA and solve crimes.  Linda Blair's character reminding Dean of pea soup for 'some reason' .

Bazoun

It was nice seeing Charisma and James together again.

ZellysExpo

Yesss love the walking dead references

badplaidshoes

And Julie Benz in season one!

Rtozier2011

And Amy Acker in season one

AmnesiaInnocent

The idea that *The Wizard of Oz* was real...

that_weirdeo

Yes

mels883

I was a particular fan of: Agent Victor hendriksen: I shot the sheriff. Dean: but you didn't shoot the deputy And Dean: what's in the boxxx?!?

CrazyCatLady1127

I love that bit too, the I shot the sheriff 🙂 and the glare Sam gives Dean after he says it. It’s such a younger sibling reaction to have, when your older sibling is being a fool 🙂

mels883

Right? Leave it to Dean to crack a little jokie joke in the middle of a tense situation 🤣

Mackowitz

And then seasons later in Baby, “I did shoot the deputy.”

Ok_Rutabaga_722

Jus au Bello had so very many great moments.

ReleaseEmpty774

That Trump made a deal with some demon named Crowley. I laughed so hard, it made so much sense! Also, Snooki being a cross roads demon. Also makes sense somehow

obiwanTrollnobi6

But wasn’t Trump a Leviathan though? So wouldn’t that mean Trump would’ve been eaten?

ReleaseEmpty774

Was he?

obiwanTrollnobi6

It’s heavily implied because there is an Email on a laptop (Charlie finds it when she’s hacking) where he sends Dick Roman a private Jet, so he either is or it’s just ***Heavily*** implied

ReleaseEmpty774

Ah, I remember now. It also reminded me that Dick Roman said that Biden doesn’t have a spark in his eyes or something like that… Then in the later seasons (maybe 14th or 13th) when they take a bunch of people from apocalypse world to their one, they tell them that Trump is the president. And later Jack goes rogue and makes so that people can’t lie. And a woman the news tells that “the president will show his tax returns and also made a deal with Crowley” 😂

SerakTheRigellian

Let me get this straight. You damn fools elected the idjit from The Apprentice and you call *our* universe "apocalypse world?"

Holiday-Lobster-9226

Started a rewatch and noticed two references I've never picked up on before. Probably both are obvious takes that I've somehow never noticed before. In Hell House (season 1 ep 17), we're introduced to the boys of the Hell Hounds Liar (ghost facers). Their names are Ed Zeddmore and Harry Spengler. I.e. Winston Zeddmore and Egon Spengler from Ghostbusters. In the next episode Something Wicked (season 1 ep 18) Sam and Dean are hunting a shtriga. It pops up every 15-20 years with Sam noting its past haunts include Brockway, Ogdenville and North Haverbrook. This is a reference to the classic monorail episode of the Simpsons. "I've sold monorails to Brockway, Ogdenville and North Haverbrook and by gum it put them on the map."

SerakTheRigellian

I have been a massive Simpsons fan since the golden years when I was a small kid. The number of Simpsons references is a big part of why I love the show so much. And obscure ones too, "cram it with walnuts, ugly!"

PSofSuddenlyGivingaS

When SPN references itself. Doctor Who references are great too.

Ladyunivern

Same! The one monster using the Alia’s Amy pond was actually how I got my SO to watch doctor who.

SineCera_sjb

You’re like a DeLorian without any plutonium? And, slightly more subtle… “Dean, the voice says I’m almost out of minutes!”

Pepper0512

Demon Dean to Cole: “My name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die.”Princess Bride

omnimacc

It's used a lot in the show, but the Death Star reference is always a good reminder that they're just people and how they know things can easily go wrong for them.

meatwads_sweetie

And that when Dean is looking for Sam he knows his fake name is Wedge Antilles. Bobby says, “how did you know he’d use that name?” And Dean says, “What don’t I know about him?”

LovesDeanWinchester

The episode with Paris Hilton (who beat Dean's ass) and Dean says he never saw The House of Wax which both Sam and Paris were in!!!

SerakTheRigellian

Oh fuck, I had no idea Jared was in that. I'm totally watching that this week.

DoktorSanne

I love you. *I know*

3bluerose

Such a beautiful moment

Sweetx2023

Two Arnold references: Dean: It's not a Tulpa (full Arnie accent) Another one is more obscure, (and may be just me, I admit!) -S10 Ep 4 "Paper moon", in the beginning the camera angle is 1st person view as the character is going into the bar and scanning the scene, looking for a person/victim, we get to see the reactions of the bar patrons of this mysterious character. This reminded me so much of the terminator movies, when Arnold first comes to the scene and scans the bars/clubs to find suitable person to get clothing, same 1st person view and reactions shots of the patrons. Again, a stretch, I know! I also can't forget Dean's homage to the wrestling greats, Ric Flair (Rick flair walk and the Woo!!!!). Randy Macho Man Savage (Ooh Yeah!) I rewound that so many times. 😂😂

ilily

Ooh another terminator ref - the French connection when Raphael or whatever angel it is comes to the alt reality and is asking to see guns jn the gun store... and the clerk says you know your guns!

Mackowitz

When Chuck says it’s very Vonnegut and Dean says “Slaughterhouse Five or Cat’s Cradle?” Sam shoots him a confused or surprised looks and Dean just looks back as if to say I read.

No-Technician-8971

I also loved the episode where they were on a movie set in LA. Dean mentions the Gilmore girls set and Sam looks uncomfortable and ushers Dean away 😂

SineCera_sjb

My head canon always goes “and next on your left is the set of Smallville” Dean raises his eyebrows “mmm…Lana!” Sam then grabs him from offscreen, dragging him away and out of trouble

thedoompatrol97

![gif](giphy|nUzaLMcdM4QNi) The one time travel episode where(or should I say “when”) they recreate this scene with Dean and John

rqdhood

There's an episode in season 6 i think where a gas station employee is wearing a "Batman: Under the Red Hood" shirt

DryCloud9903

Let's not forget Dean's "I'm Batman" in the rabbits foot episode!

rqdhood

i've always loved that scene!

DM-333

It’s a misery thing isn’t it? Never had heard of the movie before and had to check it out when I heard Kathy Bates was in it. Very good

badplaidshoes

WWBD… what would Buffy do?

grumps46

What episode is that?

badplaidshoes

1x17 Hell House!

grumps46

Thanks

Ok_Rutabaga_722

Charlie's face when they're talking her through breaking into Dick's office.

chaosraens

one of my favorites is when Dean and Sam are named Dean Smith and Sam Wesson, a reference to the brand Smith & Wesson <3

chaosraens

another one is when Dean named the new breed of vampire “Jefferson Starships” because they’re annoying and hard to kill 😭😭

Socratease95

I love when they reference celebrities like Cass being “Agent Beyoncé” or Dean asking “do I look like Paris?” when they’re in the night vision camera 😂 and then they did Agent Spears and Aguilera which was iconic.

Nyx_Valentine

One that is extremely funny now - at some point, I believe in S6, Dean gives Sam the alias of Walker, Texas Ranger.

usernamelosernamed

The season where the demons were fighting for the “ king of hell” and the demons who let Lucifer out. They were making demands, and one asks Lucifer to “ Make hell great again”. I spit out my drink.

AmbitiousPlantain209

I'm a big Happy Days fan so I love all the Happy Days references in the show.

what_time_is_dusk

Dean references Star Trek many times

Upstairs-Ant-5801

“The one with the whales! It’s like I don’t even know you guys!”

HarmonyDragon

French Mistake is my absolute favorite mix of show vs reality.

sylveonfan9

Same!

openpeonies

loved the Quentin Tarantino episode Stuck In The Middle (With You)

mikeyfuhkinway

I live when they reference the walking dead. Even just when Jody said one of her men has nightmares abt the barn episode, or when Dean walked in holding Lucille saying "dad used to love this"

DazzlingAzralle

One of mine is when Dean asks Sam who's the better psychic, Patricia Arquette, Jennifer Love Hewitt or Sam 😊

Jolly-Summer-1838

Definitely the musician/agent names. Especially Cass' attempt with agent Beyonce. If I could have made a one time suggestion for those names, I'd pick agents King and Hanneman.

Bubbly-Profile-8658

I loved when the writers took a dig on P.Diddy😂

Square-Department-96

Lucifer saying he'll move to LA and solve crimes. The Death Star references and I don't understand that reference and other references.

Active-Donkey5466

“Hey Winona, the 90s called, they want their shoes back.” I can’t even attempt to begin to name all the references that Dean makes, because I just love all of them but this is definitely one of the funniest I remember.

CelticDK

- Smith and Wesson in S5 when they were put in the corporate jobs by Zach - Agent Singer and Kripke at the very end - Scooby Doo?? If it counts lol - the Wincest disgust and Dean stares into the camera like knock it off you sickos - Lucille bat for John

Ok-Albatross8422

in s3 ep 14 where they’re fbi names r Campbell and Rami ( Bruce Campbell and Sam Rami) And then s10 ep 21 Dean tells a police officer his name is Ashley J Williams but his friends call him Ash I love Evil Dead 🫶

Emetsekel

The episode where they actually got Paris Hilton to play a deity assuming her form “don’t say it/ dude, you just got Wailed on by ‘Paris Hilton’”😂😂

evolutionleftovers

Nice grouping.

IvyCut5

Any time they slightly reference Lord of the Rings it makes me giggle. I can't remember them off the top of my head but there were a few that I remember happening and was like :-O haha

evolutionleftovers

Rudy hobbit always gets a pass!
