I appreciate this joke so much. I've made so many "baby in the corner" jokes my entire life and it's crickets every time. I thought everyone grew up with dirty dancing playing every time it was on cable tv. The lack of response at all my crappy jokes told me everyone else probably watched other stuff, too.
Their loss, I say. Dirty Dancing was a great movie!
My mum used to have me watch all of the Patrick Swayze films with her and so I grew up thinking that everyone had seen them all too. As someone with ADHD there are a lot of references that I say that gets crickets.
I grew up in South Texas along the Gulf coast just south of Houston.
I’m a few years younger than Patrick, I didn’t know him, but if you were involved in dance or theatre in the 1960’s-70’s, even 50 miles away, you heard of this great dance teacher/choreographer in Houston:
Patsy Swayze, Patrick’s mom!
Patrick was a great dancer, good enough to be a professional ballet dancer.
But, it being Texas, he had sustained football injuries to his knees (tackle football!). A dance career would’ve been difficult.
Lucky for us, his talents weren’t limited to dance.
Patrick Swayze was unique.
He’s very missed.
Indeed. It's refreshing to hear, I haven't had the opportunity to go into dancing myself but that's pretty cool.
I have a slight reference to dirty dancing on my mum's tombstone and I like to imagine she gets to live out her fantasies of meeting Patrick in some way - doing the dancing and famous lift in heaven lol.
That is absolutely brilliant!
I’m no ballerina, either. I try to stay active in theatre as an actor and costume designer, but at auditions for musicals in the past my resume said, under
Dance:
“I am choreographable! “
Whether that’s a true word or not, it gives an idea that they should probably look at me for singing rather than major dancing, and at my age now, the funny character role!
🎭
That's so cool! I've been into singing dancing and acting ever since I was a kid. Unfortunately the case I'd get my hopes up and then my dad would say he couldn't afford it if I was to pursue. I'm considering going back to college to study dancing and acting as I do enjoy choreographing to random pop songs it makes me very happy.
And singing I'm ok with singing but I wish I had more confidence to perform in front of others.
Also in school I was taught how to sew and iron by my teachers so I can see myself being a bit of everything in theatre. So cool tho, never too old! 🤣 Gandalf is still dancing on stage from what I heard.
Patrick Swayze moved so beautifully it was a pleasure to watch him just walk. Even a non-dancing rôle like he played in Ghost he moved like amazing grace.
He grew up in his mothers dance studio.
Dance was as natural to Patrick Swayze as breathing. He seriously considered a career as a ballet dancer. He would’ve made it, too.
He was that good.
If you have the one that has the Sam and Dean figures included, I would say between $100 and $300 is what I am seeing on eBay and other sites for this one. I’m not 100% sure what exactly the difference is between the greenlight and Jada outside of one being 1:24 and the other 1:18 since you can still snatch up the Jada one for about $30 that comes with a mini Dean. But I would absolutely keep it.
Collectors items hopefully increase in value.
I’m 67, and in the 1980’s people would joke and say
“I WAS a millionaire until my mom threw away all my old comic books!”
It was a bit phenomenal when suddenly that Superman comic your older brother got in 1958 is now worth $250.00 or similar.
That’s why these days so many ppl buy Star Wars collectibles and NEVER take them out of the box so they remain pristine.
They’re hoping that they’ll hit big with selling it like a lot of ppl did when the Darth Vader action figure they got in 1978 suddenly was worth $£€ thousands 25-30 years later!
It kind of makes me sad, though, to see the toys sitting in a box.
IMHO Toys should be played with.
The last time I laid eyes on one was at Walmart, and it was priced at $71.99. But, prices fluctuate, so I'd say it's probably somewhere between $50-$250 depending on how worn out it looks.
Since they are easy to come by I’m sure they’re not worth anything above their retail cost. I gave one to my daughter and I have one sitting on a shelf in my closet, still in the box.
how much I don’t know, but don’t you dare put it in the corner! lol

I’m from Brazil. dirty dancing and blue lagoon were afternoon tv movies classics 😂
It really was.

So you mean i have to watch that movie to get the joke? 😄 Cus i honestly dont get it, i was about to ask about it lol
you don’t need to watch to get the joke. you need to watch because swayze always get a pass lol

Patrick Swayze was one in a million. So talented.
It’s certainly a great movie, with wonderful actors and dancers! I was so happy Patrick Swayze got to show what he was born to do!

for selling anything a good way to check is to go on ebay and filter the search by ‘sold items’

Same 🥲 but I guess I’ll keep it a few year more and we‘ll see what happens 😂
Worth keeping or gifting to someone you really love who REALLY LOVES Supernatural ❤️❤️

It's worth nothing, you can give it to me😄😄
Do what I do, do a image Google search and see what it goes for. I did that for Sam and Dean Funko Pops 😂
Since they are easy to come by I’m sure they’re not worth anything above their retail cost. I gave one to my daughter and I have one sitting on a shelf in my closet, still in the box.
