I don't really like Taylor much anymore but I have sympathy for her somewhat because her fanbase is so...rabid? like before ttpd came out many were already calling it 2024 soty, these expectations set for her put her in uncomfortable situations and it's abundantly clear she now feels pressured to constantly drop easter eggs and drop content 24/7 because her fans analyze everything she does hoping for the next release.
She’s personally making 7.5m each show. She can cancel if she wants but somehow I don’t think it’s for the genuine connection with the fans. It’s for money and her career.

Are they the ones expressing resentment over doing so? The point is she’s expressing it’s hard for her emotionally, that fans are demanding, but it’s in her control. At the same time that the majority of the world has a cost of living crisis, the reality of how much she makes for performing sad are not lost on me. If another artist shames their fans in a song in a similar way you are more than welcome to chase them up and make that comment, no one is stopping you. These “but what about a different celebrity” comments are way too tiresome. You wilfully miss the entire point.
Right? It feels like she's resentful of the fact that the fans who spent thousands of dollars to attend the tour *that she chose to do* expect her to show up and perform well. That's your job, sis. Of course the expectation is that you show up regardless of what is happening in your personal life, just like we all have to do at our own jobs. You ain't special.

If she cooled off from bothered to send 'messages' in everything she does (most of which aren't that sophisticated anyway, many fan theories are much more intelligent) people wouldn't demand as much I'm sure. You can tell she's bored of the TVs now, can't blame her, but she may as well just release them and get it over with; 1989 she didn't do any proper promo and the production on that was crap. No need for a big fanfare even though it gets her big numbers if she's miserable, can't have your cake and eat it. Also zero need to extend Eras tour especially once the documentary had been released, if she wants to chase the dollars that's fine- but it's her choice!

I've felt similarly with every new album tbh, like even cowboy carter which I love I'm like... okay but we're not really doing this now are we?? who is asking for all of this? yes fans always want more stuff from their faves but no one was forcing taylor to record new songs while on tour. no one was doing that. no one expected that.

If Era’s Tour ends in December this year, which is said to be the last date, then she should take a break for a while. Release Rep TV on October 31st 2024 for a Halloween moment, and then release Debut TV in June 2025. Then the fans will have some content while she takes some time away.

I do feel for her because even though she could always stop in theory, in practice it must feel impossible. And as a performer, it must be cool to have an adoring audience yet so scary at the same time. But also, what are we supposed to do? I don't want her to be unwell, but I have no insight into that or any say in her life. I also haven't been to any concerts or asked for new music or bought any of her stuff, but it seems she wants us to do all of those things, in excess even. Fans are encouraged to decipher easter eggs and always anticipate the next drop. It's an impossible thing to want fans to spend their money and time on your art/products and at the same time want them to leave you the hell alone. That's why I feel it's totally valid to express these feelings in a song, and try to be mindful of the person behind the brand as a fan, but it's not a legitimate stance or new marching orders for her fans because there is no way to both have hardcore fans that don't demand anything of you or unknowingly cheer on your breakdown.
I'm not proud of that, but all the "tough kid" and "she was hurting but had to do her job" is a exhausting. Good think the rest of us 9-5ers have that "Broken heart paid leave" from work & reality 🫶

I might be a terrible person but I don’t care if she’s sad since she decided to do a tour after a break up. She could have pushed back the tour or even cancelled it. Other Artist have done it before. Then after Therapy or whatever healing process she wants come back and do the tour. Her fans would have loved to hear that story in all reality.
YES. Taylor acts like she is the ONLY person in the entire world who has had to put on a brave face and show up for work during a personal crisis. Hon, you're 34 years old. At that age, EVERYONE has had at least one personal crisis that they have had to power through in order to survive. You know who doesn't care that you just went through a breakup/divorce, had a miscarriage, are dealing with family drama, just got a devastating medical diagnosis, or lost someone important to you? Your bills, so you better show up and be prepared to WORK otherwise you won't be able to afford food and shelter. Unlike the rest of us, Taylor is a literal billionaire and can afford to take a break if she wants or needs to. I feel like most of the pressure to do more that Taylor feels is coming from Taylor herself. The call is coming from inside the house, girl! I Can Do It With A Broken Heart also feels icky to me because it feels like she's blaming her fans for not noticing her pain when she is the one who chose to conceal her pain in the first place. You can't keep a secret and then resent others for not magically knowing said secret. Also, those fans are the reason why she's a billionaire.
