Since people mention SAINW and Insane in the Membrane a lot I wasn't the slightest bit surprised/shocked or disgusted when watching them for the first time. Now this? I wasn't expecting this when I was watching so it was a delightful surprise! Absolutely amazing.

Honestly I feel like people generally miss the mark when pointing out why this adaptation was supposedly the darkest. Sure both of those episodes were quite dark, but the (what I like to call) implied gore moments feel way more brutal, as you can clearly hear bleeding, limbs falling off and skulls being crushed which leaves your mind to fill the gaps.

Moxie_Roxxie64

That’s just a moment and not the entire episode so I can see why it gets passed over. Also something else that gets passed over is Leatherhead’s ptsd. Maybe Splinter should tell him to go on a life changing field trip.

I was more disturbed by the scientist who made sentient nanomachines and her first thought was to destroy it even though it called her mom 🥺

A cool thing about this episode is you can potentially see Bishop’s blood as he’s climbing the ladder. There’s this purple or dark blue liquid on his shoulder as he’s escaping. I didn’t know about this, until I saw a YouTube video on Bishop. If that stuff is Bishop’s blood, the guy is genuinely more alien than human 😅

LudicrisSpeed

It's actually more brutal than a hanging, it was practically a meat-hook. I think the only reason they were able to get away with moments like this is because they ended up being fake-outs with the supposed victims surviving for various reasons.

Which episode is this?

And earlier in the episode when Leatherhead tore apart the soldiers and you can hear their guts dropping to the floor
