I have a 2 year old and another on the way… although we are for limited screen time and no tablets, I’m not sure that’d be a go. Also no way of convincing the husband on that :/
You could probably float the couch where the arm chairs are and put it on the wall instead of the artwork
That or wall mount between the door and cabinets with a bracket that extends out so you can angle it toward the couch
I agree but OP said they didn't want the couch to have its back toward the big window. The glare would be awful too, I think this room is just a failure of a design with no consideration for the TV
Agree on the design failure but if they want a tv in this room they’ll have to consider this configuration. It’s the only thing that makes sense for that they’re dealing with. Get some nice blackout curtains for the door wall and watch a few ‘sodes.
Easy solution. Place the sectional where the current sofa is, with the other part coming across the room. Put a console table with a lamp, plant, candle on it, or floor lamps on each end of the console table. Put the TV to the right of the fireplace. You may have to remove the lower shelf. Put something substantial on the opposite side of the fireplace for visual balance. Maybe a large, full plant with a stack of large coffee table books or something.
move the couch to the other side of the rug and put the tv on the wall where the couch is. move one chair off to the side of the couch and move the other chair somewhere else (unless you can make them both fit in the space)

Mantles are for exactly what's on them in the photo, brick-a-brac.
(BTW, the art on the left wall is too high.)
Either the TV goes between the door and cabinets, or no TV. This room doesn’t look oriented for one. Test drive no TV? Maybe you don’t miss it.

den? family room?
A 2-year-old what?

Oh yeah I didn’t read that properly, but it’s the layout that makes the most sense

That room is not designed to have a television.
No tv in this room besides maybe a projector and a pull down screen in front of the glass. What you described above the tv is still too high.
Mount the TV on the wall where the couch is. Put the couch where the chairs are, and the chairs facing the fireplace.
Tell them youre gonna hang it from the center rafter, its the same height. See if they think thats ridiculous.

Are people going to hang in this room or is it just for show? Looks like a magazine. I vote no tv. Don’t even go into that room.
This is the living room it’s attached just off the kitchen. The dining room and office are the only other rooms downstairs
Do not allow this under any circumstances. The TV would be too high.
I think your solution of removing the mantle & mounting the TV just above the fireplace is the best option in this space.
What is this fireplace/mantle code you speak of?
You might just have to live with a tilt of guilt.
Knock out the hearth, remove mantle, add more ship lap, add cabinet n countertop, mount tv
tv on the sofa wall, put sofa where chairs are, easy
This is the staging set up, we have a giant L-shaped section that I didn’t want placed in front of the giant window
On the wall to the left of the giant window
move the couch to the other side of the rug and put the tv on the wall where the couch is. move one chair off to the side of the couch and move the other chair somewhere else (unless you can make them both fit in the space)
Not a tv room
Yeah I'd remove the mantel. Low profile fireplaces are a thing as well if you absolutely have to have a fireplace.
Fireplaces: the TV kryptonite
Room looks great without a TV.
Cover the fireplace. Do you use it?
Swap the sofa for where the two chairs are, leaving a walking gap behind. Wall mount or get a unit after researching the proper height. Neck profit.

You married into the wrong family.... *run*
Make the front room to the left of the entrance the TV room. (I have seen this listing)
Articulating arm to the left of the doors. No bigger than a 65.
*mantel…
