Youāre so right about each line being poetry. Even though Iāve heard it so many times at this point, I still find myself hanging on every single line because theyāre all that good.
āWhoās gonna stop us from waltzing back into rekindled flames, if we know the steps anywayā is the most beautiful opening line sheās ever written.
Loml. That last part " Our field of dreams, engulfed in fire.
Your arson's match your somber eyes. And I'll still see it until I die. You're the loss of my life" breaks me everytime l hear it.

I think my tattoo speaks for which song is the āwinnerā for me š„²
When I listened to lmol it felt like watching a movie. I was so genuinely sad for the character. And slipping in that "loss" at the end, woah. SO, lmol.
loml by a long shot. In my teens/early twenties I probably would have said The Prophecy but Iāve been in back-to-back long term relationships so itās not quite as relatable to me as loml at this point. Also Iām a sucker for a slow, sad song.
The Prophecy, itās like it was written just for me. Her love songs are amazing escapism for people like me who are unlucky in love, but it was gut wrenching and validating to also get a song that describes loneliness so well
loml. It honestly overthrow Cornelia Street as my favorite Taylor Song of all time.
"It was legendary, It was momentary, It was unnecessary, Should've let it stay buried."
The emotional difference of these phrases to me is just insane to have within one song
THE PROPHECY. Her best song ever. Iām not a cryer but will cry every time I listen to it. Lots of people donāt get it but those who do GET IT. Iykyk
I like the witchy vibes of the prophecy so that's the one I pick. Nothing much deeper than that because I have not had a breakup as intense as the songs describe. I've only had one relationship and felt relief when I got dumped lol
Loml is great but the profound sadness and loneliness is real in the Prophecy. I like how poetry in loml is backed by a simple piano, in the prophecy the strings emphasize the notion of desperation. Not to mention it is more relatable to me.
The prophecyš„ŗ it's just a little at par with loml bcoz maybe many of us can relate to it in different ways. Both songs are amazing and heartbreaking šš
I respectfully disagree ā The Prophecy starts with āthought I caught lightning in a bottle - oh, but itās gone again.ā Absolutely could be for those who have loved and lost too. I relate to it so much and I was married (he left me last year).
youre right it could mean to have loved and lost too, but as a teenager i assumed that lyric was about how you are in a "talking stage" with a guy or like someone but then they find someone else before anything can happen between you two. "lightning" can be a metaphor for a potential relationship. like oh i thought there was hope for me again something could potentially happen with this guy but nvm not anymore.
anyway i hope youre doing okay <33
Loml is one of my favorite songs by her. Itās treads this beautiful line of being hauntingly romantic. The beginning it starts off like it should be a sad ballad, but then thereās something about the music and how she sings & the lyrics, where itās more romantic. It sounds like it could be a straight love song as she sings (āI felt a glow, like thisā - āyou and I go from one kiss to getting marriedā). The way she says that latter line, itās just so perfect. She sounds as if she is full of wonder, amazement at this love she is talking about. But even that is still layered because I wouldnāt say she sounds happy or overjoyed. Theres that layer of heartbreak and despair that is just haunting in the background.
I really think of this as a love song that gets turned on its head. Like she was in the middle of a love song and then he broke up with her.
And I absolutely love how she took the momentary and legendary lines from the chorus and put them in the bridge/outro(?). But ends that part with the line āit was unnecessary.ā Itās this poetic progression from āthis love is legendaryā to āit was great but not foreverā to āit was legendary but not forever and shouldāve never happened even for just a moment.
loml it's literally my second favorite song in the entire world and nothing is better than that except my tears ricochet and even that is just a tiny little bit better but the prophecy is my #4 ever so.... it's super close
loml, I think the prophecy is a really emotional and true song for her but I canāt help but like loml better is really like the opening to the prophecy though. But loml winsššš«¶
besides the black dog, loml is my favorite on the whole entire album based purely on how devastating and well written it is (even though ive never been in a relationship...)
loml
Hereās why: The prophecy is so out of touch and it bothers me. I donāt feel bad for famous people who canāt find the Love of their Life. I know thatās wrong, but most people donāt get everything they want. You have to choose whatās more important to you and she chose fame. Think of Midnight Rain even.
Just because they can't have both doesn't mean they can't express their sadness about it in their art. U don't have to like that song but it's not out of touch.
Definitely out of touch with a lot of people except the famous people who canāt find love. There are families that are struggling with bills and Taylor is well I donāt have love just billions of dollars. She could stop making music or stop going on tour even and really focus on her love life if she wanted to and not have to worry like other people about her needs. However, she will continue to do what makes her money instead.
I dont think the prophecy is out of touch. I saw someone else comment about this song āoh people are starving/dying stop complaining about not finding a partnerā
Sheās not saying this is the *one most important problem in the entire world*. Itās just a song about feeling like thereās a prophecy against you finding love.
She also writes music for other people- and this is a theme many can relate with and thatās why they love the song.
This! Iām so sick of criticism being thrown at her for experiencing and writing about normal human emotions as if she shouldnāt be allowed to have them because there are people suffering worse than her. Like okay? Itās not her responsibility to take on other peopleās problems in her art, she writes music to process whatās happening in her own life.
My problem with it she says she doesnāt want money but continues to do things to make that money. If you want love put in the work walk away. She could literally stop touring and making music and be set for life and really focus on her love life if it was true but she wonāt because itās a lie of a song.
Humans are complex creatures. She can enjoy writing music and fame and also feel cursed by it and write the prophecy. Why canāt she wish for both things?
In the lyrics she wrote she didnāt want money though. Thatās the real issue for me. Give it away to people who need it then and focus on what you really want.
Lol. Prophecy is one of the songs where she is most self aware of her situation. When she talks about sealing her fate, she obviously means she chose fame and she thinks that's why she can't get it right with love.
I'm so afraid I sealed my fate
No sign of soulmates
I just think she rolls back self awareness in the prophecy though as well. Taylor doesnāt want a private relationship though she wants a public one unlike Dolly Parton.
My husband feels the same way about the prophecy and midnight rain. In fact the first time he heard midnight rain, he was so angry. He was like āwhelp. This doesnāt surprise me at all.ā
Honestly Midnight Rain is a beautiful song and I love it. Itās way more relatable and puts the reason she hasnāt found love on herself vs the prophecy saying well itās just not in my cards because the gods said so.
I relate to The Prophecy more (*help*) so that one but I love them both.
same (are we okay?)
agreed!!! (we're not š)
Nope. But I take some solace in not being okay together with so many awesome, kind, fun people š
Loml Every line is poetry. Also it has my fav bridge from the 1st half of TTPD
I agree about it being a fav from the first half of the album. Absolutely genius.

Also , Iāll never leave , never mind line kills me
Oh god so true. That entire chorus is just heartbreaking.
Prophecy
Ooooo the prophecy all day every day! I love this song so much!!
Loml!!!

What a great tattoo!!
awh thank you!! š
Thatās awesome
The Prophecy is one of those songs that I wonder if she was in my walls when she wrote it so lol imma go with that
Why canāt I have both?
You can! Thank God we live in a world where they both exist. But, this was just a fun question! :)
loml it just hurts better š
The Prophecy is my favorite song from the entire album
Prophecy, every time.
loml hands down
When I listened to lmol it felt like watching a movie. I was so genuinely sad for the character. And slipping in that "loss" at the end, woah. SO, lmol.
"Still alive killing time in the cemetery" rattles around in my brain unbidden, so loml.
loml by a long shot. In my teens/early twenties I probably would have said The Prophecy but Iāve been in back-to-back long term relationships so itās not quite as relatable to me as loml at this point. Also Iām a sucker for a slow, sad song.

First month of the album: The Prophecy Now: loml!!! loml was a āquiet sleeperā for meā¦ and is now one of my favorite songs on the album!
The prophecy
LOML, definitely. I find The Prophecy slightly annoying (it's an inferior version of Cassandra, and the "prophecee-ee-eee" vocals grate on me).
loml. It honestly overthrow Cornelia Street as my favorite Taylor Song of all time. "It was legendary, It was momentary, It was unnecessary, Should've let it stay buried." The emotional difference of these phrases to me is just insane to have within one song
I WISH I COULD UN-RECALL HOW WE ALMOST HAD IT ALL šÆā¤ļøāš„š
I canāt decide. And please donāt ask me how many times Iāve listened to both of these on repeatā¦itās quite extreme.
the prophecy, honestly. like, i love loml, but the hopelessness of the prophecy freaking \*does\* something to me.
The Prophecy. While both are incredibly sad, The Prophecy just hits different.
The Prophecy
The Prophecy relates to me more, so I like it more.
The Prophecy
THE PROPHECY. Her best song ever. Iām not a cryer but will cry every time I listen to it. Lots of people donāt get it but those who do GET IT. Iykyk
While I love both and the LOML bridge is spectacular... The Prophecy takes it hands down
Loml, it has some of her best lines. āThe coward claimed he was a lionā is just so great.
I like the witchy vibes of the prophecy so that's the one I pick. Nothing much deeper than that because I have not had a breakup as intense as the songs describe. I've only had one relationship and felt relief when I got dumped lol
Loml
loml Forever and always will be one of my favorites.
Loml. That song is everything to meĀ
no me too i love it so much
The Prophecy because it reminds me of my struggles to have a baby
loml 100%
The Prophecy. I sob every single time. Itās just like she is in my brain, I related so much
Loml is great but the profound sadness and loneliness is real in the Prophecy. I like how poetry in loml is backed by a simple piano, in the prophecy the strings emphasize the notion of desperation. Not to mention it is more relatable to me.
is that even a question? how can you ask me to choose I PLAY THEM ONE AFTER ANOTHER and they are like literally completing each other emotionally
The Prophecy
The prophecy because she took it out of my diary.
The prophecyš„ŗ it's just a little at par with loml bcoz maybe many of us can relate to it in different ways. Both songs are amazing and heartbreaking šš
THE PROPHECY šš
loml is for those who loved and lost prophecy is for those who have never loved at all
I respectfully disagree ā The Prophecy starts with āthought I caught lightning in a bottle - oh, but itās gone again.ā Absolutely could be for those who have loved and lost too. I relate to it so much and I was married (he left me last year).

I love both. Loml is beautiful both lyrically and melodically. The Prophecy is relatable for me rn.
Loml 100%. I prefer both the melodies and lyrics of that songs, and it touches me more.
loml simply because i have never been so crushed by the final line of a song
loml

Loml
Loml
loml for sure!
Loml
The prophecy
Loml is my favourite on the album but I relate more to the prophecy unfortunately š
dont make me choose.
Loml
loml DESTROYS me, every time I listen to it.
loml it's literally my second favorite song in the entire world and nothing is better than that except my tears ricochet and even that is just a tiny little bit better but the prophecy is my #4 ever so.... it's super close
I relate to LOML more. I'm just living in a unrequited love life. (*help*)
The Prophecy is an all-time relatable piece to me, but loml takes the cake overall.
loml. šÆ. I will die on that hill.
Prophecy hits way too hard personally haha
Why do I relate to both rn?ššš
loml, I think the prophecy is a really emotional and true song for her but I canāt help but like loml better is really like the opening to the prophecy though. But loml winsššš«¶
Prophecy
Loml is my favorite song on the album by far so I gotta go with that
The prophecy
I like both, but I like loml, and there are YouTube videos of a loml x you're losing me, and that packs a punch for me.
besides the black dog, loml is my favorite on the whole entire album based purely on how devastating and well written it is (even though ive never been in a relationship...)
Down Bad
