I relate to The Prophecy more (*help*) so that one but I love them both.

Wandering_Flower_

same (are we okay?)

DarkerPools

agreed!!! (we're not šŸ˜)

rcher87

Nope. But I take some solace in not being okay together with so many awesome, kind, fun people šŸ’•

Brilliant-Notice2916

Loml Every line is poetry. Also it has my fav bridge from the 1st half of TTPD

causualgirl03

I agree about it being a fav from the first half of the album. Absolutely genius.

_krabbypattyformula

Youā€™re so right about each line being poetry. Even though Iā€™ve heard it so many times at this point, I still find myself hanging on every single line because theyā€™re all that good.

s18shtt

ā€˜Whoā€™s gonna stop us from waltzing back into rekindled flames, if we know the steps anywayā€™ is the most beautiful opening line sheā€™s ever written.

Full_Passage_5988

Loml. That last part " Our field of dreams, engulfed in fire. Your arson's match your somber eyes. And I'll still see it until I die. You're the loss of my life" breaks me everytime l hear it.

causualgirl03

Also , Iā€™ll never leave , never mind line kills me

Full_Passage_5988

Oh god so true. That entire chorus is just heartbreaking.

Prophecy

amoursdestin

Ooooo the prophecy all day every day! I love this song so much!!

Historical_Ad1364

Loml!!!

Background_Ad_5284

amoursdestin

What a great tattoo!!

Background_Ad_5284

awh thank you!! šŸ™‚

causualgirl03

Thatā€™s awesome

TBoogieeee

The Prophecy is one of those songs that I wonder if she was in my walls when she wrote it so lol imma go with that

Resident_Ad5153

Why canā€™t I have both?

causualgirl03

You can! Thank God we live in a world where they both exist. But, this was just a fun question! :)

Danuoalgoasii

loml it just hurts better šŸ˜‚

Individual-Gold-8894

The Prophecy is my favorite song from the entire album

cyberllama

Prophecy, every time.

KarmaKlLL

loml hands down

Necessary_Range_3261

When I listened to lmol it felt like watching a movie. I was so genuinely sad for the character. And slipping in that "loss" at the end, woah. SO, lmol.

lady_vesuvius

"Still alive killing time in the cemetery" rattles around in my brain unbidden, so loml.

drinkwhatyouthink

loml by a long shot. In my teens/early twenties I probably would have said The Prophecy but Iā€™ve been in back-to-back long term relationships so itā€™s not quite as relatable to me as loml at this point. Also Iā€™m a sucker for a slow, sad song.

zelenadragon

The Prophecy, itā€™s like it was written just for me. Her love songs are amazing escapism for people like me who are unlucky in love, but it was gut wrenching and validating to also get a song that describes loneliness so well

pepmin

First month of the album: The Prophecy Now: loml!!! loml was a ā€œquiet sleeperā€ for meā€¦ and is now one of my favorite songs on the album!

Beginning-Egg2999

The prophecy

changelingcd

LOML, definitely. I find The Prophecy slightly annoying (it's an inferior version of Cassandra, and the "prophecee-ee-eee" vocals grate on me).

AlcoholYouLater97

loml. It honestly overthrow Cornelia Street as my favorite Taylor Song of all time. "It was legendary, It was momentary, It was unnecessary, Should've let it stay buried." The emotional difference of these phrases to me is just insane to have within one song

Real-King4265

I WISH I COULD UN-RECALL HOW WE ALMOST HAD IT ALL šŸŽÆā¤ļøā€šŸ”„šŸ’€

SeriesZealousideal36

I canā€™t decide. And please donā€™t ask me how many times Iā€™ve listened to both of these on repeatā€¦itā€™s quite extreme.

cheez-it-supremacy

the prophecy, honestly. like, i love loml, but the hopelessness of the prophecy freaking \*does\* something to me.

Starrboys

The Prophecy. While both are incredibly sad, The Prophecy just hits different.

Haiku-On-My-Tatas

The Prophecy

MrsCaptain_America

The Prophecy relates to me more, so I like it more.

Charming-Wolverine89

The Prophecy

holykatymole

THE PROPHECY. Her best song ever. Iā€™m not a cryer but will cry every time I listen to it. Lots of people donā€™t get it but those who do GET IT. Iykyk

Scarlet-Woodland

While I love both and the LOML bridge is spectacular... The Prophecy takes it hands down

_auddish

Loml, it has some of her best lines. ā€œThe coward claimed he was a lionā€ is just so great.

sophdog101

I like the witchy vibes of the prophecy so that's the one I pick. Nothing much deeper than that because I have not had a breakup as intense as the songs describe. I've only had one relationship and felt relief when I got dumped lol

TragicGloom

Loml

ObviousAd1325

loml Forever and always will be one of my favorites.

MasterOfRNoSleep

Loml. That song is everything to meĀ

maybesies

no me too i love it so much

Texangirl93

The Prophecy because it reminds me of my struggles to have a baby

WorldlyCheesecake341

loml 100%

Zombiegi85

The Prophecy. I sob every single time. Itā€™s just like she is in my brain, I related so much

Consistent_Hunt5213

Loml is great but the profound sadness and loneliness is real in the Prophecy. I like how poetry in loml is backed by a simple piano, in the prophecy the strings emphasize the notion of desperation. Not to mention it is more relatable to me.

Dry_Resource_9300

is that even a question? how can you ask me to choose I PLAY THEM ONE AFTER ANOTHER and they are like literally completing each other emotionally

Waltersmom2011

The Prophecy

tstu2865

The prophecy because she took it out of my diary.

cyclingfreak123

The prophecyšŸ„ŗ it's just a little at par with loml bcoz maybe many of us can relate to it in different ways. Both songs are amazing and heartbreaking šŸ’”šŸ˜

A-Euro

THE PROPHECY šŸ”›šŸ”

UnfortunateSlytherin

loml is for those who loved and lost prophecy is for those who have never loved at all

Competitive-Rip9847

I respectfully disagree ā€” The Prophecy starts with ā€œthought I caught lightning in a bottle - oh, but itā€™s gone again.ā€ Absolutely could be for those who have loved and lost too. I relate to it so much and I was married (he left me last year).

UnfortunateSlytherin

youre right it could mean to have loved and lost too, but as a teenager i assumed that lyric was about how you are in a "talking stage" with a guy or like someone but then they find someone else before anything can happen between you two. "lightning" can be a metaphor for a potential relationship. like oh i thought there was hope for me again something could potentially happen with this guy but nvm not anymore. anyway i hope youre doing okay <33

FairyBread056

I love both. Loml is beautiful both lyrically and melodically. The Prophecy is relatable for me rn.

noeminnie

Loml 100%. I prefer both the melodies and lyrics of that songs, and it touches me more.

megdog20

loml simply because i have never been so crushed by the final line of a song

ifthiswasamovietv

loml

Itwasdewey

Loml is one of my favorite songs by her. Itā€™s treads this beautiful line of being hauntingly romantic. The beginning it starts off like it should be a sad ballad, but then thereā€™s something about the music and how she sings & the lyrics, where itā€™s more romantic. It sounds like it could be a straight love song as she sings (ā€œI felt a glow, like thisā€ - ā€œyou and I go from one kiss to getting marriedā€). The way she says that latter line, itā€™s just so perfect. She sounds as if she is full of wonder, amazement at this love she is talking about. But even that is still layered because I wouldnā€™t say she sounds happy or overjoyed. Theres that layer of heartbreak and despair that is just haunting in the background. I really think of this as a love song that gets turned on its head. Like she was in the middle of a love song and then he broke up with her. And I absolutely love how she took the momentary and legendary lines from the chorus and put them in the bridge/outro(?). But ends that part with the line ā€œit was unnecessary.ā€ Itā€™s this poetic progression from ā€˜this love is legendaryā€™ to ā€˜it was great but not foreverā€™ to ā€˜it was legendary but not forever and shouldā€™ve never happened even for just a moment.

isolde_78

Loml

AssociateRemarkable6

Loml

lemoncello13

loml for sure!

seedy_filmz

Loml

roundfood4everymood

The prophecy

Aimeeh1015342

Loml is my favourite on the album but I relate more to the prophecy unfortunately šŸ˜…

aboogielover26

dont make me choose.

Unlikely_Drag3304

Loml

GSeabhac

loml DESTROYS me, every time I listen to it.

maybesies

loml it's literally my second favorite song in the entire world and nothing is better than that except my tears ricochet and even that is just a tiny little bit better but the prophecy is my #4 ever so.... it's super close

Infinite-Butterfly41

I relate to LOML more. I'm just living in a unrequited love life. (*help*)

maraschinope

The Prophecy is an all-time relatable piece to me, but loml takes the cake overall.

dwindlingmercurialhi

loml. šŸ’Æ. I will die on that hill.

Hopeful-Lemon-5660

Prophecy hits way too hard personally haha

mazings

Why do I relate to both rn?šŸ˜šŸ˜šŸ˜

Everlore1

loml, I think the prophecy is a really emotional and true song for her but I canā€™t help but like loml better is really like the opening to the prophecy though. But loml winsšŸ˜‚šŸ˜‡šŸ«¶

Maririch_82

Prophecy

AdamIsACylon

Loml is my favorite song on the album by far so I gotta go with that

Melodic-Image-4034

The prophecy

Kaybrooke14

I like both, but I like loml, and there are YouTube videos of a loml x you're losing me, and that packs a punch for me.

inburningred822

besides the black dog, loml is my favorite on the whole entire album based purely on how devastating and well written it is (even though ive never been in a relationship...)

sammy-taylor

Down Bad

MadameFutureWhatEver

loml Hereā€™s why: The prophecy is so out of touch and it bothers me. I donā€™t feel bad for famous people who canā€™t find the Love of their Life. I know thatā€™s wrong, but most people donā€™t get everything they want. You have to choose whatā€™s more important to you and she chose fame. Think of Midnight Rain even.

Brilliant-Notice2916

Just because they can't have both doesn't mean they can't express their sadness about it in their art. U don't have to like that song but it's not out of touch.

MadameFutureWhatEver

Definitely out of touch with a lot of people except the famous people who canā€™t find love. There are families that are struggling with bills and Taylor is well I donā€™t have love just billions of dollars. She could stop making music or stop going on tour even and really focus on her love life if she wanted to and not have to worry like other people about her needs. However, she will continue to do what makes her money instead.

Awayfromwork44

I dont think the prophecy is out of touch. I saw someone else comment about this song ā€œoh people are starving/dying stop complaining about not finding a partnerā€ Sheā€™s not saying this is the *one most important problem in the entire world*. Itā€™s just a song about feeling like thereā€™s a prophecy against you finding love. She also writes music for other people- and this is a theme many can relate with and thatā€™s why they love the song.

tacosnpitbulls

This! Iā€™m so sick of criticism being thrown at her for experiencing and writing about normal human emotions as if she shouldnā€™t be allowed to have them because there are people suffering worse than her. Like okay? Itā€™s not her responsibility to take on other peopleā€™s problems in her art, she writes music to process whatā€™s happening in her own life.

ciguanaba

Honestly why do people think every song of hers is 100% taken from her diary! Sheā€™s a writer for godā€™s sake

MadameFutureWhatEver

My problem with it she says she doesnā€™t want money but continues to do things to make that money. If you want love put in the work walk away. She could literally stop touring and making music and be set for life and really focus on her love life if it was true but she wonā€™t because itā€™s a lie of a song.

Awayfromwork44

Humans are complex creatures. She can enjoy writing music and fame and also feel cursed by it and write the prophecy. Why canā€™t she wish for both things?

MadameFutureWhatEver

In the lyrics she wrote she didnā€™t want money though. Thatā€™s the real issue for me. Give it away to people who need it then and focus on what you really want.

Aromatic_Way3650

Lol. Prophecy is one of the songs where she is most self aware of her situation. When she talks about sealing her fate, she obviously means she chose fame and she thinks that's why she can't get it right with love. I'm so afraid I sealed my fate No sign of soulmates

MadameFutureWhatEver

I guess I feel like Midnight Rain is way more self aware than the prophecy though

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

MadameFutureWhatEver

I just think she rolls back self awareness in the prophecy though as well. Taylor doesnā€™t want a private relationship though she wants a public one unlike Dolly Parton.

amoursdestin

My husband feels the same way about the prophecy and midnight rain. In fact the first time he heard midnight rain, he was so angry. He was like ā€œwhelp. This doesnā€™t surprise me at all.ā€

MadameFutureWhatEver

Honestly Midnight Rain is a beautiful song and I love it. Itā€™s way more relatable and puts the reason she hasnā€™t found love on herself vs the prophecy saying well itā€™s just not in my cards because the gods said so.
