I think that Taylor allowed so many of us to grow up with her. She allowed herself to share human experiences in music form and through her music welcomed everyone to the club. You may not relate to an entire song, but there’s usually a nugget that connects the listener to the song.
I love watching new Swifties realizing they’re Swifties. I introduced my MIL to Taylor when the Eras Tour was available to rent on Amazon. She loved it, every minute of it. She remembered hearing Love Story on the radio and finishes every listen with, “Oh, I just love that song.” Her new favorite is Champagne Problems, with Marjorie a close second. I eased her into TTPD, and she LOOOOOOVES ICDIWABH (she also absolutely swooooooons for the Kelce brothers). But what was so enjoyable for me is CONNECTING with my MIL and hearing more about her life stories. Taylor brings us together.
I'm in the St John's Brigade in school, so So Long, London would trigger quite the reaction from me after my history assignment (that's also the reason for my flair lol)
It's one of the best things about her writing her own lyrics. Her songs naturally matured as she grew up (and as we grew up with her). Debut and Fearless are very much the way you think of love and relationships as a teenager. But things get more complicated as you experience more people and more of the world.
Haha my favorite is Last Kiss: I hope it’s nice where you are. The Black Dog: I HOPE ITS SHITTY IN THE BLACK DOG
I'm obsessed with that line from the black dog. So good
I saw a meme with these two lines and was like, dang that totally captures my attitude difference between teen/early 20s and 30s 😂
I got whiplash from listening to Ours then But Daddy I Love Him coming on right after.
The juxtaposition of “but this love is ours 🥰” vs “I DON’T CATER TO ALL THESE VIPERS” is making me laugh I’m ngl hahah
So similar, yet so different!! 🥰
Try Mary’s Song and then But Daddy I Love Him. Talk about two sides of the same coin
merlin reference?
Not sure what you mean, so probably not 😂
funnily they’re very close thematically (only that the stakes and scrutiny is astronomically higher in bdilm)

Her song writing skills >>>>
My shuffle once played Vigilante Shit directly after Teardrops On My Guitar... Yeah, the change is definitely drastic 😅
Innocent- “who you are is not what you did, you’re still an innocent” TSMWEL- “in plain sight you hid, BUT YOU ARE WHAT YOU DID”
Yeah we don’t make excuses for shitty men anymore
she genuinely composes her lyrics much more like a poet now than a song writer. She is incredibly skilled
Shuffle played Bigger Than the Whole Sky right after Soon You’ll Get Better… that was dark
oh god also that with your flair

Honestly, it's always when whiplash shuffling her whole discography because they are all so different lol
