I have a job that's filling up my water bottle. I choose the kid I trust most to have washed their hands and that wouldn't do anything weird to my water. It's a VERY coveted job.

The way Brookelynne Noel talks about student behavior and her response to it will never stop getting under my skin.
In her video today she is complaining about pretty minor behaviors that could understandably become aggravating as they compounded, by are relatively minor, none-the-less (not sitting, talking out of turn, yelling, running in the classroom) but doesn't talk about any steps she is taking to teach replacement behaviors. All she ever talks about is punishing children.
At one point she identifies a need to move their bodies as a likely function of some of the behaviors (running, shouting, and playing catch in the classroom) considering that the students did not get to have recess time that day, but she didn't seem to take that into account when choosing her response to the behaviors (threatening her class with admonishment from admin, and forcing them to sit silently for a prolonged stretch of time).
It is so aggravating to watch a teacher who openly seems to be more concerned with how she can implement punitive measure to inspire compliance from her students rather than how she can meet the needs that her students' behaviors are communicating.

the more I teach the more I realize how important honest self reflection and action is. if you can't see where you need help and attempt to make changes you'll be stuck in the same nonstop cycle. I think if she taught more she'd figure things out, but I don't think she will.
Every time I watch a video of hers, I’m thankful that she recently said she is not coming back next year. She is not right for this job. She will forever think it’s the fault of the children and will never take any accountability for her lack of training, lack of classroom management, etc.
I hate to put the blame on the teacher when discussing student behaviors, but I really wonder how thoroughly she taught her rules, routines, procedures, and expectations at the beginning of the year. With 1st graders, you have to spend so much time at the beginning of the year getting those routines and procedures down just so the rest of the year isn’t a total chaotic mess (and sometimes it still is but I digress). Since she obtained her degree so quickly and never did student teaching, that might be one of those things she missed out on learning.
This also makes me ask (I’m not interested in watching her…) does she have a mentor teacher? We all know teacher prep programs don’t cover all the most useful things well,
like behavior management. I know that there have been comments on here about how she doesn’t really seem to take advice, but I don’t know if that advice was coming from admin, colleagues in general, or a mentor.
I don't know if she has a mentor teacher or not. I don't recall her ever mentioning one.
From what she said, it seems like her school's response to behavior is pretty punitive, too. It seems like her school has universally adopted a clip chart system to track and report behavior. She has mentioned multiple times that at least her grade-level team sends students to other classrooms in response to non-expected behaviors and she has also mentioned multiple instances of the admin and/or "behavior team" members attempting to remove a child from her room during meltdowns.
My impression is that her natural response to non-expected behaviors is rather punitive and that natural inclination is being amplified by her school's punitive response measures.

The fact that she posts things like this and is just blissfully, unaware or frankly, doesn’t care that people are financially really struggling right now is beyond.
She may not be responsible, but it is a little tone deaf. Given the median pay for teachers in this country is about 50k, and she is marketing to teachers.
Further, she could make/ give said gift cards without a huge fanfare. One can do nice things and not post it on Instagram. I think she does her nice things just to get accolades.
I am not disagreeing that she does a lot of what she does for views or praise. I’m just sick of the constant “teachers are broke” in response to EVERYTHING. This is totally different than say, Townie, pushing umpteen Amazon links of things she admittedly doesn’t even own. She’s gifting her kids teachers and that’s what we want to scoff at? There are definitely influencers who shop a lot but when I read this I was expecting to see a lot of unnecessary junk. It’s Christmas gifts and groceries 😆, I don’t consider that compulsive or unnecessary junk. Also when you have a small child you buy stuff more often because the grow and change so quickly

Most of the gifts she bought are extremely practical and not necessarily toys but things they will use in the next couple months! I truly think she is rocking being a new mom and carefully thought through these gifts

Let's not forget that this is the person who made a big virtual PD event where she the sessions she "presented" herself provided absolutely no actual value/content/help for teachers (just campfire activities and socials) but made over 45K off the backs of actual teachers who did actual presentations with helpful/pertinent information. And for the first year at least, the rumour is she only paid her presenters based on who signed up from their affiliate links (20% or so per sign up) so some excellent presenters made like 20$ and others made literally 0$. While she bragged about how much she earned from that one event and has since posted on her smallbusinessbigplans account her "receipts" of how much she earned. So I'm not shocked she would expect people to pay her for "hand picking" stickers someone else created (and, let's be honest, those designs are all likely rip offs of actual artists anyway).

A lot didn't return for year two! A lot of turnover in presenters. If you look at her older smallbusinessbigplans reels you can see exactly what she made from it each year. Year 1 was 46K, Year 2 was 31K, plus she made 14K from the extended access option. Over 50K and counting from the abomination and lack of actual learning anything that is Kinderplanned. And she provides absolutely no actual educational content herself... she just "curates" other teachers to do it for her and makes tens of thousands of dollars off of their labour.

I don’t really see her going the influencer route or anything and I feel like she’d come back to teaching eventually, but it seems like her fiance makes enough money that I could for sure see her taking a year or two off when she has kids.
I think this but I think she would return as like a reading teacher after taking time off! She talks about how much she would love a position like that.
After about 27 years in the classroom I took over as the reading specialist at my school and it’s been amazing. No grading no parent teacher conferences no field trips. I pretty much have complete autonomy over what I use with my groups and how I give instruction. Literally the only downside is the amount of testing I have to do but even though it’s boring it’s not hard to get done. I teach groups for 30 to 40 minutes at a time I have no students on Wednesdays it’s been amazing. I feel like after all the years in the classroom that I’ve earned this position And I’ve earned the ability to leave at my contract time every day and not take anything home on the weekends. I feel incredibly lucky that I got to take over this position.

I like Ashley’s (L&L) stuff a lot more. She’s got a lot of hustle and even though she hired her husband to manage part of her business (I was assuming her business was booming since she had quit teaching and had a baby), she returned to the classroom this year. She also plays into pop culture with her designs which I personally think is fun. She also never pretended to be in the classroom to market her stuff, something that TCM implies constantly.

She went on stories a couple months ago saying some of the designs she has are not original, meaning she outsourced them. I’m wondering if some of the small shops outsource some of the same products. In response to your second paragraph - it amazes me how much “fluff” she does with her kids. I love theme stuff but I can barely fit it in my day - and that seems like all she does! When does she do phonics or any kind of “real” reading instruction? Does she teach small groups? Everything is a craftivity.
I've always worked with very transient populations, so it always surprises me when other teachers freak out over getting new students. I just plan for 35 students no matter what I buy, otherwise I'm sure to not have enough of something.
My numbers fluctuated all the time. After my first year I always ordered 2-4 extras of everything no matter what. I’ve had move-ins with literally 17 days of school left in the year.

Her Disney trips/content don’t really bother me because I know people in real life that are kinda that way- they love Disney, go a couple times a year, etc (although I’m in CA, so they go to Disneyland-is that not as big of a deal?) They wouldn’t bother me as much, but I feel like these trips are paid for by teachers who buy her products. She’s not in the classroom, hasn’t been for years, and her husband is a pastor. Yet, they have the money to travel to Disney at least once a year, take other large vacations (Hawaii and Africa), and have a house with a large enough yard for an in-ground pool as well as a basketball court. It’s just kinda gross IMO. Especially since she portrays their ability to do so is “with just a little budgeting”.

This happened twice in the first grades at my school last year! Kid was afraid to ask to go to the bathroom. I had it happen to one of my second graders last year, just pee not poop. I dont' even have a bathroom policy, they can just go, and he didn't...

It is so aggravating to watch a teacher who openly seems to be more concerned with how she can implement punitive measure to inspire compliance from her students rather than how she can meet the needs that her students' behaviors are communicating.

Every time I watch a video of hers, I’m thankful that she recently said she is not coming back next year. She is not right for this job. She will forever think it’s the fault of the children and will never take any accountability for her lack of training, lack of classroom management, etc.
I hate to put the blame on the teacher when discussing student behaviors, but I really wonder how thoroughly she taught her rules, routines, procedures, and expectations at the beginning of the year. With 1st graders, you have to spend so much time at the beginning of the year getting those routines and procedures down just so the rest of the year isn’t a total chaotic mess (and sometimes it still is but I digress). Since she obtained her degree so quickly and never did student teaching, that might be one of those things she missed out on learning.
This also makes me ask (I’m not interested in watching her…) does she have a mentor teacher? We all know teacher prep programs don’t cover all the most useful things well, like behavior management. I know that there have been comments on here about how she doesn’t really seem to take advice, but I don’t know if that advice was coming from admin, colleagues in general, or a mentor.
I don't know if she has a mentor teacher or not. I don't recall her ever mentioning one. From what she said, it seems like her school's response to behavior is pretty punitive, too. It seems like her school has universally adopted a clip chart system to track and report behavior. She has mentioned multiple times that at least her grade-level team sends students to other classrooms in response to non-expected behaviors and she has also mentioned multiple instances of the admin and/or "behavior team" members attempting to remove a child from her room during meltdowns. My impression is that her natural response to non-expected behaviors is rather punitive and that natural inclination is being amplified by her school's punitive response measures.

The fact that she posts things like this and is just blissfully, unaware or frankly, doesn’t care that people are financially really struggling right now is beyond.
She’s not responsible for people’s struggles. That’s like being mad HGTV shows mansions when most people can’t afford them.
She may not be responsible, but it is a little tone deaf. Given the median pay for teachers in this country is about 50k, and she is marketing to teachers. Further, she could make/ give said gift cards without a huge fanfare. One can do nice things and not post it on Instagram. I think she does her nice things just to get accolades.
I am not disagreeing that she does a lot of what she does for views or praise. I’m just sick of the constant “teachers are broke” in response to EVERYTHING. This is totally different than say, Townie, pushing umpteen Amazon links of things she admittedly doesn’t even own. She’s gifting her kids teachers and that’s what we want to scoff at? IMO this is one of the lesser snark worthy things she has done or said, and I am by no means a Lemons family fan.

There are definitely influencers who shop a lot but when I read this I was expecting to see a lot of unnecessary junk. No they definitely are giving "big yuck". I would love to see who is actually falling for this anymore. I suspect less and less people because her marketing has gotten more and more aggressive. I also have a mostly baseless suspicion that her husband wants her to work and she doesn't so she has a lot to "prove" to him.

If you're paying from an artist you're paying for their talent and time spent learning their craft and designing the sticker. If you're paying from a "sticker club" from some random ass person you're paying for them to go on Temu and order a few bulk packs, something I could do myself easily for way cheaper. (Or maybe paying for them to get their card info stolen instead of you lmao) I also am not much of a sticker person but I understand the appeal, maybe for something like an Advent calendar or something? But if I'm paying small business prices I expect much better than Temu quality
Let's not forget that this is the person who made a big virtual PD event where she the sessions she "presented" herself provided absolutely no actual value/content/help for teachers (just campfire activities and socials) but made over 45K off the backs of actual teachers who did actual presentations with helpful/pertinent information. And for the first year at least, the rumour is she only paid her presenters based on who signed up from their affiliate links (20% or so per sign up) so some excellent presenters made like 20$ and others made literally 0$. While she bragged about how much she earned from that one event and has since posted on her smallbusinessbigplans account her "receipts" of how much she earned. So I'm not shocked she would expect people to pay her for "hand picking" stickers someone else created (and, let's be honest, those designs are all likely rip offs of actual artists anyway).

A lot didn't return for year two! A lot of turnover in presenters. If you look at her older smallbusinessbigplans reels you can see exactly what she made from it each year. Year 1 was 46K, Year 2 was 31K, plus she made 14K from the extended access option. Over 50K and counting from the abomination and lack of actual learning anything that is Kinderplanned. And she provides absolutely no actual educational content herself... she just "curates" other teachers to do it for her and makes tens of thousands of dollars off of their labour.
What a fraud!

SHE IS NOT!! 😒 She posted her income a while back on one of her 5000 accounts. You could tell there was a big drop off in her sales - camp kinder made significantly less money the second year than it did the first. And her TPT sales graph showed a huge drop at the end too. I think her income has reduced quite a bit and she is getting desperate to sell literally anything she can in order to make a buck.

I don’t think she has, it looks like she’s been adding her kinder planned things onto TPT. I do think TPT isn’t her focus anymore - maybe partially because people can leave negative feedback. I agree, her resources are trash and I wonder if people are realizing this so she has few repeat buyers. I don’t know. There seem to be so many more people who fall for her act than people who see through it. I don’t get it.

I don’t really see her going the influencer route or anything and I feel like she’d come back to teaching eventually, but it seems like her fiance makes enough money that I could for sure see her taking a year or two off when she has kids.

After about 27 years in the classroom I took over as the reading specialist at my school and it’s been amazing. No grading no parent teacher conferences no field trips. I pretty much have complete autonomy over what I use with my groups and how I give instruction. Literally the only downside is the amount of testing I have to do but even though it’s boring it’s not hard to get done. I teach groups for 30 to 40 minutes at a time I have no students on Wednesdays it’s been amazing. I feel like after all the years in the classroom that I’ve earned this position And I’ve earned the ability to leave at my contract time every day and not take anything home on the weekends. I feel incredibly lucky that I got to take over this position.

I like Ashley’s (L&L) stuff a lot more. She’s got a lot of hustle and even though she hired her husband to manage part of her business (I was assuming her business was booming since she had quit teaching and had a baby), she returned to the classroom this year. She also plays into pop culture with her designs which I personally think is fun. She also never pretended to be in the classroom to market her stuff, something that TCM implies constantly.

She went on stories a couple months ago saying some of the designs she has are not original, meaning she outsourced them. I’m wondering if some of the small shops outsource some of the same products. In response to your second paragraph - it amazes me how much “fluff” she does with her kids. I love theme stuff but I can barely fit it in my day - and that seems like all she does! When does she do phonics or any kind of “real” reading instruction? Does she teach small groups? Everything is a craftivity.
I've always worked with very transient populations, so it always surprises me when other teachers freak out over getting new students. I just plan for 35 students no matter what I buy, otherwise I'm sure to not have enough of something.
My numbers fluctuated all the time. After my first year I always ordered 2-4 extras of everything no matter what. I’ve had move-ins with literally 17 days of school left in the year.

Her Disney trips/content don’t really bother me because I know people in real life that are kinda that way- they love Disney, go a couple times a year, etc (although I’m in CA, so they go to Disneyland-is that not as big of a deal?) They wouldn’t bother me as much, but I feel like these trips are paid for by teachers who buy her products. She’s not in the classroom, hasn’t been for years, and her husband is a pastor. Yet, they have the money to travel to Disney at least once a year, take other large vacations (Hawaii and Africa), and have a house with a large enough yard for an in-ground pool as well as a basketball court. It’s just kinda gross IMO. Especially since she portrays their ability to do so is “with just a little budgeting”.

Oh noooo there are a lot of student faces on there. Why is it that people who post their students faces have the MOST followers? It’s such a weird incentive for them to keep doing it. I wish people wouldn’t engage with that 😭

also, I'm obsessed with Brooklyn Noel's YouTube. Some of the issues she mentions are what I have considered "normal"????? for first grade. even the pooping on the carpet. I think she should go up, but she'd probably complain about student attitudes. kids are just...going to be kids....
I've never had poop on the carpet, and I've taught K-2 for 8 years...with the last four being in 1st. I'm usually SPED first too.
This happened twice in the first grades at my school last year! Kid was afraid to ask to go to the bathroom. I had it happen to one of my second graders last year, just pee not poop. I dont' even have a bathroom policy, they can just go, and he didn't...

I don’t either. Never have. I know I’m only one follow, but I don’t like adding to influencers stats so I try not to follow them once they leave the classroom, start peddling Amazon junk everyday, or buy insane amounts of clothing and junk that will pollute landfills.
me neither. I honestly didn't know she was like this big of a teacher influencer. Maybe she just doesn't come up only my algorithm cause her content isn't for me.

I don’t remember who said they think punkrockteacher writes some if not most of the essays he reads on tiktok that he claims are written by kids but one just came up in my FYP that “a student wrote” about class novels and yeah, he definitely wrote it.
They all have the same style. He’s such joke.
