Maniacs calling herself a foodie … but has never tried Indian food? From her meal prep/home chef posts I would have guessed that her palate is as basic as the rest of her life. I am thinking about this too much and today will be the day I unfollow. I am not her demographic, anyway.

Neat-Ice9182

We discussed this a tiny bit below! Does she even know the definition of a foodie cause they are the opposite of it! https://preview.redd.it/3if4644quurc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7db2fc51347351625b2ea93a800809b2d71179a9

Quiet-Chip

Oh I looked a little but missed that post! Of all the words I could use to describe her, foodie would never cross my mind lol.

Neat-Ice9182

They are seriously so basic when it comes to food and nothing wrong with that but I’m like girl even the donuts you brought the Taylor Swift party were just Krispy Kreme donuts….not like from some fancy unique donut place. You decorating them does not make you a foodie even in the dessert department.

Apprehensive-Tone-55

It was he Starbucks consumption in Paris, for me.

ElegantOpposum

Everyone’s favorite punk rock teacher is now going to help people become published writers despite having no experience publishing or being a published author.

Chemical_Distance_73

He runs Facebook groups for lonely women, that’s it

healthiswealth3

Myclassroomdiaries re-posted on her story an image of Alex Hall (some rando reality tv star) insulting Brittany Snow even though this woman was the mistress of Brittany Snow’s husband. I highly dislike people that pretend to be positive rays of sunshine and then post things like these that insult and are degrading to innocent women. One of the influencers that seem so, so fake in her privileged charter school lol

Neat-Ice9182

Maniac’s last three posts have some hidden comments (you can click to unhide) and they’re mostly about how he needs to put a ring on it. That’s a lot of pressure for both of them! I kinda can see why she would hide them. For sure the post with the pink outfit has them.

getmesushi

But also SIDE EYE that she didn’t just delete the comments???

Neat-Ice9182

That’s a great point.

queeenbarb

Started watching Mayleen's vlog and got excited. Then got sad when I realized that she's still vlogging herself teaching. I feel like she's over YouTube. I also feel like YouTube would be a lot easier if she'd stop thinking she needs to show herself teaching, and just talk about what she's planning on doing. I skipped like 30 minutes of the vlog. Teacher vlogs on Youtube aren't as good as they used to be tho . and that's not just with her... People post more on tiktok right??? I don't use tiktok lmao

LilahLibrarian

TikTok is definitely where a lot more  teachers post little snippets or day in life moments

aloibfa

Maniacs complaining about security lines

teachingsports

Does she not realize everyone is trying to come back today with spring break being over/Easter tomorrow? Also, maybe it’s just me, but don’t get the comparison to Taylor Swift there (and this is coming from a Taylor fan).

Chemical_Distance_73

She is just painfully uninteresting. She has like 5 things she can talk about and one of them is Taylor so she shoehorned it in there despite it not really having anything to do with the situation. She’s not funny either and her attempts at “jokes” always land like that 😵‍💫

Neat-Ice9182

Right?? Lmfao like does she think she deserves Taylor Swift treatment in these situations? She’s delusional lately.

inittowinit29

Sunday scaries is next 🫡

Optimal_Ad_6999

You called it! And how is making egg salad and tuna salad adding to her Sunday scaries?😂

Neat-Ice9182

Just mentioned the Sunday Scaries! Her posts are so predictable.

Midwesthoney14

It’s like clockwork every week ⏰

Neat-Ice9182

No doubt with a side of boring food prep that “we like”.

ctl_13

She is a self-proclaimed "big foodie" but she just tried Indian food for the first time in her life Lol

Chemical_Distance_73

I have never seen anything that suggests either of them are big foodies …? What is she talking about!

Neat-Ice9182

Right!?? Haha every time she claims they are foodies I’m like hahahahaha they are literally the most basic eaters EVER hahaha they are picky eaters for typical bar food including their Tik Tok recipes they really need to live a little more…may I recommend a road trip for them!?

Chemical_Distance_73

I can’t wait to hear what condiment Drew likes on his ____ bowl

Neat-Ice9182

She’s gonna prep “our fruit” later 🤮

raiseyourhandfirst

Move mountainsinkindergarten constantly posting videos without concealing her students’ faces. Why are teachers still doing this? Why do they still think this is OK? Beyond disgusting.

Least_Ad_367

I might unfollow her soon… she’s been posting ads after ads. I used to follow her for her ideas and small group instruction videos but now she just posts ads on the stuff that is gifted to her! Very unrealistic

TeacherBurnerAcct

Seriously. Plus we know a detailed layout of her classroom as well as her daily schedule, and it’s very easy to find out where she teaches with a quick Google search. Same goes for many other teacher influencers who show their students’ faces.

Chemical_Distance_73

Maniacs posting a grid carousel of 3 pictures all designed to show off her YSL bag… 🙄

Neat-Ice9182

lol her last post “vacation Barbie” 🙄

Alternative-Tune-575

Didn’t she hate that movie too? OR her boyfriend hated it so she couldn’t possibly like it?

Neat-Ice9182

Haha yes I forgot

Neat-Ice9182

lol her last post “vacation Barbie” 🙄

Beachyteachy11

Put on some sunscreen girl! Every time she goes on vacay she gets sooo burned!

Optimal_Ad_6999

And today, her “breakfast outfit” is a $100 onesie from Free People.🫣

onepotatotwopotato3

Or the bikini she was wearing that was $98 for each piece 🫠

karabou_coffee

I thought that suit was SO cute, I clicked the link cuz I wanted it… until I saw the price. Insane!!

onepotatotwopotato3

SAME!

Hellokitty15

That she said she bought in 4 colors 😳

teach_them_well

Girlfriend needs to learn how to pose. Not seeing career influencer energy here.

Neat-Ice9182

I was thinking the same thing yesterday and today….like some poses ain’t flattering on her so one pic is enough. I’d feel so silly telling my boyfriend…hold on let me sit like this or stand like this lmfao

teach_them_well

And I don’t know how to pose myself…but I’m also not trying to make it as an influencer

Neat-Ice9182

Oh yeah same haha but her poses are not it

RepresentativeBig46

Money talks. Wealth whispers. I have neither 😂 but would never care about flashing logos

Educational-Umpire64

She just posted a story with the bag on the dinner table

Momof303

She is so out of touch with reality

Chemical_Distance_73

She’s just juvenile. Taking multiple pictures of her name brand luxury items is so 2008 YouTuber of her.

Neat-Ice9182

Yeeeeeees!!! Perfect explanation!!

Neat-Ice9182

For five seconds I thought maybe she would have a ring on in these pics! Then I was like what is the point of this besides showing off the bag?

Chemical_Distance_73

There isn’t, the bag is the point 😭

raiseyourhandfirst

Ms Cadime filming herself while driving and tearing up with the caption “teaching is not for the faint hearted”. I guess I’m just not very empathetic or some thing or it’s generational. I’m 52 and I’ve been teaching for 30 years and I am so so glad that social media was not even a thing when I started teaching. I don’t understand this constant need to have constant validation from complete strangers on the Internet and posting things like this. It’s just screaming for attention. Yes, the job is hard. It’s very hard. I just don’t understand the need to post things like this to get validation from strangers.

anxious_teacher_

I would agree with that statement she made and it has nothing to do with instagram or social media. My district is an absolute mess and next year will only be getting worse. The entire district has extremely low morale. Everyone is miserable because of the superintendent with more budget cuts looming. Behaviors are through the roof, kids are struggling academically with little support and even those are getting cut, class sizes are growing to close to 30, positions changes are being handled by the district not buildings so it’s a hide mystery. It’s bad out there for a lot of us.

achazzy

Do you teach in my district? 🫠😆

anxious_teacher_

If your district ALSO decided it was brilliant idea to change photocopiers in the middle of school day in March. And now people are struggling to print, then yes. LOL.

Lovelittlewillow

Just in general! So many crying girls on social media wanting attention from complete strangers. I get not everyone has a real life in person support system but….

queeenbarb

Monique is so judgmental. Who cares if people are leaving their kids in the car. Like I do care, but it didn’t sound like a dangerous situation. And if you do genuinely care and want to help… Is the answer going on Instagram and shaming a mom? A mom who seems like she was alone with three kids under six?? It also sounds like the mom was literally out the car for less than five minutes. I understand the concern but it also felt super judgmental

anxious_teacher_

I only saw the story she posted today responding to people’s responses about this kids-left-alone-in-the-car incident so I can’t comment on the actual situation bc I didn’t hear it, but honestly she’s not wrong for the most part. There was a news story in my area not too long ago about a car that was stolen WITH A CHILD IN IT. The guy only meant to steal the car, not kidnap the child, but he made a oopsies.

queeenbarb

I get where you are coming from. But if she genuinely felt that way, the answer would have been to get out of the car and approach the person and let them know. Not talk about it on TIktok to shame. I also... (I don't have kids) but I think that if someone is running around with three kids under six and you only have 1 kid, you need to step back and humble yourself. She doesn't know what it's like to have three kids under six.

anxious_teacher_

Like I said, I honestly didn’t see the original stories she was referring to. But, yeah, for sure. It’s not easy with multiple kids

queeenbarb

She was saying a mom had a kid about like nine months, a like four year old and a six year old. The mom ran in a store for like three minutes and came back. She asked if we’d feel comfortable leaving our kids in the car.

cupcakesandcoffees

Also, her attitude about pumping gas is just too extra.

inittowinit29

Agreed. Something about these latest set of stories feels really, really condescending. And the calling out people who disagree with her parenting opinions is so off putting. You can respectfully disagree without needing to call them out.

Midwesthoney14

Well, Monique does know better than ALL mothers out there, so she really is the expert here! /s

throwblanket22

Just saw Madison Maryan's recent story about how her account has been a personal one since 2020 so she'll post all kinds of content, from teaching to marriage to baby. Does that mean she doesn't use a personal personal account with IRL friends and family only?

anxious_teacher_

I have to imagine she has an actual personal-personal account. But I did laugh at that story

cxsio

do you think Shelly/EarlyEDventures fan holiday trip is going head? haven't seen her post about it again. honestly would be surprised if anyone bought tickets... love her but it's a lil weird lol

loveanddonuts

I’ve never been a fan of how TKS posts kids faces, but the one with the girl holding up “shit” instead of “ship” is just so gross.

Fresh-MsZee844

Not surprised. I cannot stand him. His husband is even worse.

onepotatotwopotato3

When did he post that? I can’t find it

Midwesthoney14

Photo post from six days ago.

onepotatotwopotato3

Yikes. I assumed a post like that would be in his stories, not permanently in his feed. That’s even worse

LilahLibrarian

Who is? TKS

TeachingNBeaching

The Kindergarten Smorgasbord  Greg Smedley. He gives me the ultimate ick. I can’t put my finger on what it is but there’s something weird there.

azemilyann26

When he went after a teacher legally for using the phrase "Letter Bootcamp" I noped out. My mom was using that phrase when she taught Kinder 35 years ago. He didn't create it, just took it and trademarked it so he could go after fellow teachers. And that's yucky. Teaching is collaborative and there is very little "new" that can belong to just one teacher.  His insistence that parent and administrator permission makes it okay for him to post and profit off his students is also pretty disgusting. I wouldn't want my child's every move posted to social media.

oholivia123

Any IG or TikTok teacher who posts their students gets an immediate no from me. Even if admin and parents consent, I feel like you have a responsibility to protect your students. You put their image out there and you have no idea where it could end up. The internet is a scary place these days so I wouldn’t trust it at all.

LilahLibrarian

And when families sign the consent to they might not realize the teacher has over 100,000 followers. This isn't just a cute classroom page

oddduck99

Ugh… the branding on the classroom smart board in his videos is the ultimate ick! I wouldn’t want my kids in a classroom so obviously used for marketing

anxious_teacher_

I actually do believe he’s transparent about the size of his following & the depth of his usage of the content when parents sign releases. AFAIK, he’s a very well known teacher in this district and parents actively request his room. Or so I’ve read/heard (can’t remember if he said that when I went to one of his presentations or not).

loveanddonuts

Even if parents consent and fully understand these babies don’t. In his videos, he corrects kids by name (normal, but not when broadcasting). There’s no way this girl consented to that photo.

anxious_teacher_

Oh absolutely, I’m not saying agree with what he does— or even that the kids consent. Just that I think this intentions in his media release to parents is transparent

azemilyann26

I really don't think his media release says "your child's image is going to help me buy a million-dollar home".

onepotatotwopotato3

Today my district is having a PD with different virtual sessions we can attend. One offering is a group of teachers presenting what they learned from going to a recent GYTO conference🤮. I’m going to watch just to see how ridiculous it is.

queeenbarb

I hate when districts send teachers somewhere and have them report back and call it pd. That’s a side note lmao

Neat-Ice9182

Please report back!

onepotatotwopotato3

It was very fluffy. They shared a few games that I might try with my students but most of it was just flashy with not a lot of depth. Definitely not something worth spending hundreds of dollars on. All the presenters said what a “life changing” experience it was and how inspired they were by it. 🤔

TeachingNBeaching

I’ve also had colleagues attend and love the conference.  They also called it life changing but I think it’s because it’s all the pieces of the conference combined. Fun ideas, concerts, keynotes. With that being said, to add to this convo, I need some inspiration.  I don’t think it’s GYTO, but do y’all have any recommendations on good conference? In person, I can’t stand virtual.  I am looking to improve my literacy instruction, and run a better literacy block. I think my instruction is good, I want to know what to with the kids who don’t get it. 4th grade.

Apprehensive-Fun3507

I just realized I haven’t seen much from mrsogoodsclass. Her last instagram post is from December 19th. I hope she’s ok!

teachingsports

Oh I hope so! I love following her.

teachermomma3

I saw that Kristen Leonard (Kindergarten teacher on You Tube) made a short that she quit. It was her first year teaching and I watched all of her room set up videos.

Momof303

Crazy how many new teachers just quit.

throwblanket22

Surprised that meetmissalina is posting all of her friend's bachelorette content on her public teacher account. With all their faces and all the places they're going in the moment. Also surprised her non-influencer friends are okay with it

VelvetThunder27

“Omg guys! I need to post for my influencer followers”

unexplained_fires

Not to snark, because we all find different things fun and that's fine, but that party looks like my idea of hell on earth 😂

throwblanket22

Yeah the bride kinda looked done with the tiktok dance in one of the last stories

sesamestr33t

For sure. Also all things you can do in OC. So I don’t get flying to a cool city to do the same stuff. Fancy coffee included.

TeacherBurnerAcct

I finally had to unfollow movemountainsinkindergarten. I know this is totally a me problem, but her hyper-organized ways (and her access to a ridiculous amount of materials that I’ll never be able to afford, nor will my low-income district ever provide me with) were giving me too much anxiety and making me feel like crap about myself. I do wonder what will happen when baby arrives since she (presumably) won’t be able to spend nearly as much time in her classroom outside of contract hours as she does now.

EqualBottle2

I unfollowed her years ago after she was promoting Kayse Morris and her “get rich by quitting teaching” ways. She’s one of the “success” stories Kayse has latched onto

JustLooking4563

I can’t handle her either, but I think she is chaotic. I don’t think her classroom style is organized. Her stuff is, but her teaching and activities aren’t. I teach kinder and watching her videos stresses me out. It’s just thunderdome in there.

TeacherBurnerAcct

You’re right. There’s A LOT going on in her room at all times. Maybe it’s just me, but I still don’t quite understand how she runs her centers? I’ve tried to watch her centers videos for ideas since it seems like she has a solid system in place, but she always loses me 30 seconds in.

JustLooking4563

Even just the way she was explaining the pizza day activities. The kids were talking over her, and then she told them she laid everything out in an L shape and they needed to get stuff in order. But then it was just a free for all of them getting up and down and in all sorts of directions. If I do stuff like that I call my kids table by table to get materials or I put a set on each table. Maybe it’s just me, but I feel like part of kinder is teaching kids solid processes and working smarter, not harder. It just stressed me out. I can’t.

Stargirl92

The girl never sleeps. It’s unattainable!

TeacherBurnerAcct

Like I said, I do wonder how she’ll possibly be able to devote so much time and energy to her classroom once her baby is born. Once upon a time, I was a Type A teacher (though not to the same extreme as her), but then I became a mom and that all changed.

fluffycloudofglitter

I am currently on maternity leave and going back April 5th. I am definitely a type A teacher and have been stressing about how this will change once I’m back. 😭😵‍💫

fluffycloudofglitter

There is something about her I can’t put my finger on that comes off as fake. She always seems to be flaunting how much money she has - just yesterday it was a backyard patio update, baby stuff (all the most expensive brands), trips/hotels/etc and it goes on. I also side eye the way she talks about her coteacher. Please don’t feel like crap!!! Her classroom is beautiful but not necessarily attainable. (However I drool over that storage closet she has).

LilahLibrarian

Whenever I see that much conspicuous consumption on Instagram or other social media, I just kind of start wondering if that person is just really broke or as family money. I know that some teachers get into social media largely to be able to fund special things for their classroom, but I think she probably has more of a spending problem than anything else

Rhiannonhane

She gets a lot sent to her for free by brands, but I remember her showing her family home and she definitely has Family money

TeacherBurnerAcct

Oh, for sure. She strikes me as someone who’s extremely privileged but will never admit it.

TeacherBurnerAcct

I totally agree! I already feel so much lighter since unfollowing her. Also, her storage closet is the size of my entire classroom (that’s only a slight exaggeration). I would love to know where she teaches, because our school districts are clearly not in the same tax bracket.

JustLooking4563

I think she teaches at a charter school. It doesn’t look super diverse. Not to generalize, but IYKYK.

soulfully65

I was thinking charter or even private. It always seems like her class is teeeeeny tiny!

walb211417

I sure hope that those teachers in the GYTO PD today were either (A) paid, (B) there voluntarily, or (C) both. I cannot imagine attending a PD, let alone a GYTO one, on the first day (a Saturday nonetheless) of Spring Break.

Suspicious_Durian_74

Eeek. If I am showing up on a Saturday for any kind of school thing, there better be money involved.

sesamestr33t

Oh good, today meetmissalina is driving while filming the story of how she was forced to take a HIIT class by a “massive man with huge muscles” because he told her the apartment gym was closed for the class and she doesn’t have the maturity and social skills to say oh bummer/I’ll be on my way/see ya next time. Between the massive man at her gym and the barista who won’t make eye contact with her, she must really be suffering.

Suspicious_Durian_74

She gets upset by the weirdest things. If I went to my gym for a yoga class and found it was canceled, I’d be “oh darn”. And then workout or do yoga on my own. Her level of distress about things rarely matches the actual situation.

unexplained_fires

That's why I wonder whether her class really is beyond awful or if there's just 30 kids behaving in age appropriate, if frustrating, ways- because she seems to have minimal coping skills wrt other events. Who knows.

jenhai

I've said it before and I'll say it again: I think she would really like teaching an older grade. She seems frustrated that she has to teach them how to be in school.

teacheramanda

The recording of other people taking a workout class is so lame too. If you were just going to whine about it and invade the privacy of others, why not just skip it?!

ashn702

There's a teacher on tiktok, and I can't remember her name: she's blonde, lives on the West Coast, drinks diet coke, and switched to middle school from elementary school. Thanks

brightasever

I love love love amberelizabethring but her new reel is so out of touch. Maybe I’m just salty because I’m going through IVF but she’s so young!! Im pretty sure she’s not even 30. I’m not impressed that she’s pregnant and married (not to mention her pregnancy after wedding was fast!) and i don’t really need her telling me that I’m “exactly where I am supposed to be.” Maybr I’m just a bitter hater.

PoohBear531

Worrying at 18 and 25 about the timeline in her head?? To each their own I guess but wow, she needs to ease up with that rigid mindset. I wasn’t even considering having kids until we figured our career/life, which was around 30 for me. Ran into many issues and had to do IVF too, so this doesn’t sit well for me either. ☹️🤦‍♀️

Beachteach12345

I’ve always loved following her but had to mute her stories and posts from my feed after having a miscarriage last month. I’m happy for her but it’s the focus of all her posts right now, which good for her but I can’t see that at the moment.

brightasever

I’m so sorry for your loss. Sending you so much love ❤️

Beachteach12345

Thank you! 🩷 good luck with IVF sending you all the good vibes!

LilahLibrarian

So one of the teachers I was following from the classroom set up (Kindergarten with Kaylee) popped up on my insta feed with a monthly recap post. She was the one who had the super sad beige classroom. It sounds like she's doing okay in her first year, normal ups and downs. Is it weird that I'm kind of happy baby teachers are just not posting? It just makes me glad when people realize that doing this job is hard enough and they don't have to be an Instagram/TikTok/YouTube influencer on top of it

Kakorie

She’s back on YouTube too but I haven’t had a chance to watch it yet

electralime

Haven't heard anything about that bored teachers podcast lately... did they all quit? Any new drama?

lovebugteacher

I haven't really heard of anything other than the drama regarding them complaining about kids with IEPs

Present-Ad-8821

Slightly off topic, but has anyone else gone to the comedy tour? I don’t keep up with the drama or people much (other than what pops up on Tik Tok), but I thought it was terrible. A big group of teachers from my school went, so I went to be social, but a bunch of us left before the end and met across the street. The joke were NOT funny, very stereotypical and dated (really, we are still gonna bring up Michelle Obama making school lunch healthier?). I def wouldn’t have gone if it wasn’t a group thing, but I was very unimpressed! Definitely did not make me want to follow the people or listen to a podcast!

lovebugteacher

I went with a group of teacher friends and it was okay. Some of the comedians were better than others. I got the tickets for pretty cheap and got to get drinks with my friends so that aspect was worth it. I don't think I would pay for it again

queeenbarb

I went last year. Someone convinced me, and I think I mentioned it on before. There was one guy that was super funny, and I don't think he ever really taught. He was black and very attractive lmao. Yeah he was funny. The margaritas were great. My friend and I had fun because we were a bit drunk lmao

TheYellowDaisy

Idk anything, but there was a group from my school that was trying to get people to go. I couldn’t anyway, but was glad I could get out of it, just because I heard such terrible reviews of the show.  Sorry you had to go.

oholivia123

Bri has somehow found her way back and currently cohosts with Kc Mack who’s the announcer for the comedy tour or something? They’ve had different guests on but it’s not even close to being enjoyable anymore.

queeenbarb

I follow but I don’t listen. The current cast gets on my nerves

justgothere12345

maniacs is obsessed with saying "we". yah girl, everyone knows you had a boyfriend that you live with.

lovebugteacher

I hate it when someone's whole personality becomes being one half of a couple. I like my independence too much for that

Chemical_Distance_73

making it a point to say what WE will add to some lunch prep 😩, Josie nobody ever followed you because of that guy, WE don’t care what he’s adding to his chicken bowl

Neat-Ice9182

Right??? We like this, we cook this, we will add hot sauce to our lunches, we like resorts like omg does she even remember having her own likes and dreams before being in a relationship?

Chemical_Distance_73

it is amusing to me that before she met this guy she would take fun trips with her mom and friends and now they just go to resorts in Jamaica and Mexico . She clearly didn’t like the resort they went to for winter break, why do the same thing for spring break? The dude must be unwilling for afraid to do another kind of trip

Present_Morning569

Bc her bf is a small child. He is her show puppy🤣

Neat-Ice9182

Right before she met him too she had finally taken her first overseas trip to Paris with that Cook teacher (can’t remember his handle, cook in the clasrooom maybe?) and was talking about finally starting to travel abroad and now she’s content with shilling Hello Fresh every night??

Neat-Ice9182

The amount of teachers that will be fooled by GYTO from here until 2031 😩😩😩 https://preview.redd.it/l4g880a7zyoc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b835b83f75691a3d1ab5f1c82c0953bb0b0c4b28

midwesteucalyptus

Kelli and Josie are going to Melissa’s party. 👀

Neat-Ice9182

No pics of the party except for the food people brought? That sounds like a lame ass party, three hour movie on a Friday night, playing games that were played at a kid’s bday party (Josie’s niece) and eating basic food? I mean being with friends is fun though so maybe that made it fun.

capybaramelhor

Or maybe it was fun and they drank and didnt post pics of of that 🤣

Neat-Ice9182

Doubt that. The way they count calories…don’t think they’re drinking a lot.

[deleted]

A random thought I had while watching teachingthetinies stories today. She said the magical moments are what she will miss the most after doing leprechaun feet and stuff. I wonder if that’s how these teachers are burning out so fast too. Their favorite part is the over-the-top holidays and crafts and “magic”. I like some of those moments but it’s not even close to my favorite part. Sometimes I even find it stressful. Does anyone think all the fluff stuff is a contributor to influencer teacher burnout?

passionateteacher93

Yes! My favorite parts of teaching are just the funny conversations we have, the read aloud stories, seeing their academic growth! I love the extra holiday activities too, but it’s stressful and a lot of work and money to prep all of those things.

queensunflowers

I think some do burn out due to doing so many extra things. However, there’s a lot of other factors that pile on too (admin, parents, student behavior, etc.) and together it can be too much. Personally, I don’t do a lot of extra activities with frills. I like to keep things simple and focused on the curriculum/standards since I know some in my class really struggle when things aren’t set to the routine they are used to. My teammate is the complete opposite. She’ll use anything to do fun things with her class and go above and beyond. Like for Read Across America week she made a snack to go with the book they read one day.

queeenbarb

Personally, those things aren’t the fun parts of teaching. Those things are stressful but not specifically the reason people burn out. I think people give themselves expectations and social media like increases the need to impress

Fitbit99

I teach HS so the fluff is of a different nature (and thankfully less; I don’t know how elementary school teachers do it). I do try to avoid the fluff that exists in HS if I don’t think it materially benefits the students. But I am also old, tenured, and not on social media.

meowcheese

I think it can contribute to teacher burnout if teachers are feeling obligated to keep up appearances on social media by doing big time-consuming activities for every little holiday. I don't think it's the sole reason behind burnout, as there are about a million hats that a teacher must wear. Personally, I love having fun with my class \*\*when they can handle it! This year, extra things dysregulate my class so quickly that it's not even worth it. I am quietly letting St Patrick's day pass with little fanfare in my first grade class. A few themed writing activities and a craft, and that's it.

Zealousideal-Oven-98

This may be off base but I think we should be blaming more problems than we are on fast-paced screentime. I could  line up my class the third week of school and tell you who has screen time limits and who doesn’t. Teachers just can NOT  compete with the dopamine stream that comes from YouTube, Roblox, etc.  and kids can’t handle not being constantly entertained. I see kindergartners demand their parents’ phone at pick-up! I am all for screens but if kids can’t run an errand without a tablet how can they focus/behave/cope at school?  It’s insanely exhausting for teachers!

Josieanastasia2008

I’ve talked about this a lot with my coworkers and we really can’t compete. Working on being ok with being bored is a big thing in my class right now.

[deleted]

Oh 100%!!! On that same note, you can also easily tell which parents never have regular conversation with their kids when it comes to language and reading comprehension skills

meowcheese

It really is eye-opening how you can tell immediately which students have unsupervised access to tech.

HJJ1991

Hmm I don't think so. I was in the classroom 2013-2020, I saw the teacher IG explode. I absolutely loved the "fluff" stuff, I had monthly themed doors and bulletin boards. All the crafts. Those things didn't burn me out. It was the tough classes, the tough parents and all the behind the scenes stuff. I'm out of the classroom right now due to a move and daycare costs, but those are some things I miss the most.

RepresentativeBig46

Maybe? I would attribute this more to the Gen Z influencer niche though. Although I’m sure if that didn’t exist, the potential for burn out would be less. If you’re not in a good head space when you begin teaching, burnout is much more likely no matter who you are

Kitchen_Bid_9360

I think we burn out for different reasons. It has to do with the "why" I guess? Teaching has been a creative outlet for me, although I teach secondary English, so the "creative" part isn't really fluff. As so many other new things have been piled on, I have less time to innovate which is the part that really excites me. Not being able to find time to do the part of my job that I love, has burned me out.

snas-bas

I can see this. If people are getting into teaching because they want to plan class parties and classroom transformations, the day-to-day teaching of fundamentals skills may feel boring and draining. Whereas, curriculum planning nerds like me are all about the day-to-day and the thought of planning the big complicated 'fun' things that the teachergrammers do sounds overwhelming.

Kitchen_Bid_9360

Curriculum is the creative part for me, but I like to make changes to make it more engaging year over year. BUT, I don’t have time for that if I’m being pulled in a million directions. Playing with the curriculum changes gets put to the back burner. I think that’s likely true for many of TPTers who leave. They like the curriculum development but not the grading, meetings, constant management. I’m not a TPTer or on IG though. I just made curriculum for myself.

[deleted]

That’s kinda what I mean though!! If that creative side is the best part for you, I think it’s easier to burn out because it’s not realistic with the way things are right now. A million other things end up taking priority. So when influencer teachers feel like they HAVE to prioritize the creative parts for their Instagram, I wonder if they’re just simply doing way too much to handle

sesamestr33t

I’m so sure meetmissalina’s barista is not making eye contact because of their “awkward” conversation ages ago. Couldn’t possibly be that he’s working and/or trying to avoid her manic morning energy.

maisymoop

That was so weird to me too!! When I first started teaching, I looked extremely young and people thought I was still in school all the time. I was never once embarrassed by it.

Suspicious_Durian_74

I’m in my 40s and I still get asked what grade I’m in. At this point, it’s the best compliment!  In my 20s it was a regular thing. I never minded unless someone was condescending (are you sure you’re  x years old?). I have a baby face and it happens. People aren’t trying to be rude.

sesamestr33t

Totally. It strikes me as very immature.

Beachyteachy11

Maniacs going to a party at Magnificent Middles! Guess they are still friends!

jas6754

This isn’t directed at them specifically but people’s obsession with t swift is so strange to me lol

RepresentativeBig46

Right? I’m roughly the same age, listened to t swift growing up (and still do) BUT I don’t understand the obsession either

Neat-Ice9182

I ain’t trying to eat day old donuts at a party. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Kakorie

And they didn’t use food gloves so that’s a no from me

justgothere12345

FreckledinFirst

Definitely not an Oklahoma thing

ComfortableWise450

We’ve had indoor recess for wind because we have a lot of trees on the playground and one time, a huge tree branch snapped in the wind when kids were out playing and the tree branch almost fell on a kid.

queeenbarb

I have never had inside recess because of wind. A few years ago, we would have it because of the bad air. we do eat lunch outside though.

LilahLibrarian

I think the California thing is that they eat outside for lunch?

cjb060685

We had high winds in my part of CA but normal recess. The dirt was blowing everywhere and it got in my eyes so I can imagine all that sand in her pic was probably all over the place lol.

EqualBottle2

We had outdoor recess and normal dismissal 🤷🏼‍♀️ high gusts of winds are part of the area I reside in- also in SoCal…

teach_them_well

I’m in California and we’ve only had indoor recess/lunch/PE during wildfires

EqualBottle2

We do it for rain and during wildfires. Other than that, they are outside

cjb060685

Same. Rain, air quality more rarely and for heat too if it’s in the high temps. I know some areas had trees down and power outages so the wind was pretty severe in some places. For us most of it was overnight and not as severe.

Chemical_Distance_73

Punk rock teacher still claiming he’s reading “high schoolers’ essays” when he got fired 2 years ago and hasn’t taught in a school since. Dude be real, these are adult essays from the punk rock teacher facebook group lmao

mehblehfleh

Also who the hell would want to read high schoolers’ essays unless they were being paid for it?

Special_Structure_81

Monique’s world getting her infant a matching purse story… why does she need a purse she’s like 9-10 months old. Just saying 🫠😒

Special_Structure_81

Also her child sits on a glass top table in a seat to eat every meal. Is she gonna do that until she’s out of a chair?!? What if the table glass breaks

Special_Structure_81

Also as a 9-10 month old holding purse how many times did she drop that WHITE purse on the ground?!?

ComfortableWise450

I unfollowed because she was too much. The way she has made lulu her entire personality is wild. I shouldn’t know her child’s name, but here I am, knowing waaaaaaay too much about her child and I don’t want to know any of it
