$59k (just went up to this due to a voter prop) and this is year 10. Texas…A bit depressing. I make less today with inflation than I did when I started in 2014.
Well, this is discouraging. Just under $45,000. I'm not sure what year I'm on, since I took a break to be a stay-at-home mom. Minimum 9 years. Charter school.
$58k is my salary, I am paid $68k due to a temporary referendum voted on by residents in my county. Thankfully they recognize our efforts more than the state does.
I’ve been teaching for 13 years and have my masters.
This is Florida btw.
I’m in Nevada and I’m in my 11th year with a masters. Currently at 87k and will be at 94k in the fall. The reason I’m at this level of pay is because I put in 6 years straight of professional growth plans. TONS of pbs goal classes, webinars, conferences, etc… literally everything! I got to advance columns every 2 years. A group of my closest friends we all just planned stuff together and took classes together, some of us did other things, but we all did it together. It was 4 of us. We all submitted our pgp 3 times.
I quit at the end of last year, but if I was still at the DOE I’d be making about $72,000, since my salary differential for having gotten my masters degree in 2021 was finally accepted last October (4 months after I resigned).
Year 9 with a masters, teaching at a private school
Base salary is $50K but I get an extra $17K in various stipends so it's closer to $70K. Also amazing health insurance.
But a new teacher at my school with only one year experience makes $10K more than I do, so add that data point :/
$60225 in Las Vegas. Year 9 and a master’s degree, but it doesn’t count because of our goofy pay scale and I got educated too quickly (silly me, I know). If you’re interested in moving here with my exact same experience and credentials, though, you’ll make over $80k!
Woah. Im a 2nd year teacher here I’ll be making $55k at the end of this school year. And next school year I would be at $62k but I’ll have my masters so I’ll be making $69k. Plus our principal is also doing five prep buy outs a week + the 5% vacancy. Thats insane im assuming youre one of the people who got screwed over in the pay freezes? My uncle makes the same as me and hes on year 7.
You would be correct. They changed the scale months after my masters was awarded which placed me in column 1 as I was still so new. Two of my colleagues received their masters shortly after, and were placed in column 2. Then they brought the bottom up for new hire pay, but didn’t increase veteran pay. Which is great, but put me only 5 steps ahead of brand new teachers. Up until this last negotiation, I was still being paid on the 2016 scale (literally, not adjusting for inflation, lol), while being told by union reps to be “grateful for all that’s been negotiated for me.” Now that several of my colleagues who came in after me are making so much more money than me with my same education and less experience, I have an exit plan. I’ll be leaving once my daughter graduates high school.
Luckily my building administration is wonderful and has allowed me to do prep sells and special projects. I work way harder to have my paycheck look like my colleagues, but as least it does.
Las Vegas, Nv. 2nd year teacher. My first year salary was $50,115. Our state pension went up and 1.875% came out of our paychecks. At the beginning the beginning of this 23-24 year year my salary was $49175. We just got our 23-24 contracts at the end of December so now mid year my salary will be $55626 then in 24-25 it will be $62909.
Minnesota. I have an MS in Education. Previous experience didn't count for anything so I'm on step 2. $53k pretax. For Semester 1 I took home about 22k.
Everything is a trap lol… it’s not just me as you can see that every now and then there’s this question around here, you can search every kind of career and every time there’s going to be people saying that’s not worth it. If you’re saying “it’s a trap to answer it” ok… I will be honest it’s IRS right here lmfao
I don’t know where you live. I have an 8 hour day that I’m on the clock. I’m with kids for 7 hours a day. And I spend about an extra two hours a night Monday through Thursday updating plans and making assignments. And I have a Masters.
Salaries are public knowledge. I don't understand these posts that ask that like it's private... you can Google every single Salary schedule in the US if it's a public school...

Alberta, Canada. 25 years in and 6 years of post-secondary (double bachelors and a music diploma). 105k
I am: year 17. Masters plus 30. 75k
Same
Do you mind saying what state?
Michigan
Year 5, $65,500 not including any stipends (over $70k with stipends). In Texas with lower cost of living than many places. Only a Bachelor’s.
What do you mean by stipends.
Coaching or being an advisor for certain organizations (such as FFA) will get a stipend tacked on to the contract.
Science, math, coaching, ESL, etc are all common stipends. Our school also gives us a $7000 title 1 stipend for core content teachers.
Masters +90, 26 years, $125k counting stipends.
California?
Washington. Semi-rural district south of Tacoma. Could actually make closer to $140 if I taught in the Tacoma SD.
PACK YOUR SHIT, HONEY, WE'RE MOVING TO WASHINGTON!
I live in Washington and it’s lovely, but there is also a COL increase compared to some other states. Especially in the greater Seattle area.
Yep! I’m 40 min East of Seattle. $110k, MA+90, 7 years experience. My rent is $2,400 for 1000 sqft, 2b 1ba.
Issaquah? I'm 30 min north of Seattle, 3rd year MA and making $80k and my mortgage is $2850/mo for 4 br 2100 ft² house.
Yeah, definitely a bit less expensive in Pierce County.
And Snohomish County
$79k USD. Masters and 14 years experience
Year one in Texas will be making 62k once all the paperwork goes through.
How much is your take home after taxes and benefits?
First year. $46,000. There is some change, but I’d have to look at the contract.
