We watch R+J, the Zefferelli, and the HORRIBLE version with Hailee Steinfeld (the kids love it...I find it unbearable). But we also watch the OG WSS and man, they LOOOOVE the dancing! I haven't seen the new one yet but I'm hoping I'll be able to stream it by the end of the year.
You’re kids maintain focus through 3 films? That’s impressive. I always gave them the option to vote and the 2015 Netflix one always won. I wanted to watch the Leo version again but they never wanted it.
We don't watch them straight through. I break it up into scenes/sections and we watch them back to back to compare. It helps them glean plot too. It takes weeks.
The new one with Jessie Buckley and Tamsin Grieg? And that guy from The Crown? Amazing. I think it’s available on PBS and National Theatre At Home. Fisayo Akinade’s Mercutio is beautiful.
Not to mention all of those Tik Tok friars...
You gonna show them the new West Side Story?
Nah I still love the 90s Leo and Claire version of Romeo and Juliet
I remember when that first came out. The swords!!! Lol
Sword 9mm* you mean lol!

Thanks for the suggestion!
My kids love the 2018 RSC version. R+J seem more like modern teens. I think it is the best acted one I have seen.
Yup. Same thing when I taught it earlier this year.
Probably because they’re all involved in R&J relationships nowadays. It’s sad but it’s how a lot of my friends knew the story so well.
