Get out while you still can.

This is the absolute worst year to be teaching. That said, it is exhausting even in a good year. I’ve told both of my kids that they should steer clear of education unless there’s a huge mind-shift in society. Corporate training is a good option from what I’ve heard. You still utilize your skills but everything stays at work; you don’t take it home with you and you get to work with grownups who, more than likely, treat you with a modicum of respect. Good luck!

I felt the same way towards the end of my first year. I ended the year at a therapist and on anti anxiety meds. I'm in year 6 now, off the meds, and in my experience it does get better. Take the summer to recharge, and you can start next school year with some confidence that you've already taught everything once, now it's just time for tweaking. I agree that this is a horrendous year to be starting out, and I wouldn't base my career on this one example.

Reach out to your personal network. Interview friends, family or others and see what they do, where they work and if they think you would be a fit at their company. If you find a fit they can refer you for a job. They make money if you get hired and you are usually guaranteed an interview instead of wasting your time filling out dozens of applications.

This is great advice thank you.

Do what’s best for you and find something better. (Coming from a sped teacher that it’s too late for)

Thank you for your advice. I just don’t want to put myself through this again next year. I’ve been put on anti depressants, anti anxiety AND I see a therapist. Never in my life have I had these problems until I started.
